i read damien cox all the time in the toronto star and he is pretty brutal. one day he will say the leafs are headed in the right direction and the next he will go on about how the fans and the media are destroying the team and he will say that they havent done anything right in years. the guy is a flip-flopper and sometimes ill go so far as to call him a hack.

I was watching this last night and have been watching the ongoing feud between the kostitsyns and grabovski and ive got to say its awesome. these guys HATE each other and the city of montreal despises grabovski too. anyone know what went on in montreal when grabo was there? it seemed pretty strange to me when they traded him and now seeing the hatred there im thinking this is something thats been going on for some time. here is the video for those who havent seen. this is fast becoming a rivalry worth watching again. i love the PEACE IM OUT! at the end.

ovechkins family was rich and from moscow, datsyuk is from yekaterinburg which is basically siberia.

he may be biased but he is also informed. hell i might even call him an expert on the subject.

im only 23 and i easily remember those days. i remember being coached that same way and the idea of turning your back to a check was unheard of. regardless of the instigator rule there will always be cheap shots because there will always be a demand for players like tootoo who specialize in that type of play. people take stupid retaliatory penalties all the time so i just dont buy it that the instigator stops people from getting jumped.

im nearly 23 and havent played competitively in like 4 years but i still put in countless hours on my outdoor neighbourhood rink and im hoping ill get scouted. i keep hearing about our legendary scouting staff so im sure theyll send somebody by. fingers crossed!

its a pretty tough call really and especially after reading that quote from kopecky. i feel for the guy but chelios has been in detroit for a long time and to deny him the chance to play in this game would have been a pretty big deal.

ill start by saying i am a HUGE ovechkin fan. this is not a dirty of malicious hit, the guy is very intense and has only one speed and that is full out all the time. look at his face afterwards, he is really upset and remorseful. saying that he deserves a suspension and i suggest the same as randy jones for his hit on bergeron because to me they are similar as there was no intent but nevertheless it was a dangerous play. i feel the nhl is a joke with how it treats star players (dont get me started on pronger) and they need to level the playing field a little. remember AOs hit on briere a couple years ago? there was some intent there, but heward is AOs friend and there is no way he meant to hurt him.

i usually mute games on versus and nbc. i just cant stand it, i remember being subjected to brett hull and ray ferraro on nbc for a while there and its just unbearable. cbc is still good and fsdetroit is actually pretty good too because ken daniels is great. i hate how some commentators dont even get excited when the other team scores a highlight reel goal. they just say "ohhh and datsyuk scores, so anyway, my daughter said the cutest thing the other day..." and meanwhile something amazing has just happened. HNIC has gone downhill of late with pj stock but at least i dont have to earmuff when friedman opens his mouth anymore.

i sort of agree with this but at the same time i love to win by running through all of the best teams. just so when all my jealous friends mouth off about the wings winning again i can just say, look we dominated all the best teams to get to the cup. i really wanted to play the ducks last year for vengeance instead of playing nashville and this year i want to run through SJ and chicago sooo badly.

seconded. i want someone who will smash and bang on the 4th line and that certainly isnt kopy.

it took until the 7th post though so not bad for the one positive thread on here!

detroit needs to get the 4th line going a little more and play much better defensively (echo) before i consider them to be playoff favourites. the canucks remain to be seen, the sharks are going to be very good (remember how many years of playoff disappointment detroit went through before 97?) and boston is beginning to scare me if we make it to the final. these are some very tough teams to beat and lets not forget calgary and the ducks who might be monsters in the playoffs. lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

ouch, hope the guy can get back soon although it might be time for him to call it quits so he doesnt do permanent damage.

a lot of people on LGW dont like crosby. regardless of the play that happened before that caused him to do this its still hilarious to watch someone we dislike inadvertently act like such a jackass. its funny because it looks like he is fisting him and MAYBE he didnt mean to or the other guy deserved it, the video makes it look like crosby is fisting a guy.

okay i keep seeing and hearing this exact thought and i just cannot understand it. how can fighting be someone's favourite part of hockey??

i couldnt believe my eyes when i saw that s***. i was super furious already and then seeing them devote that much time to such a freak made it worse. eddie o losing his mind for like the next minutes was great though but his laugh was pretty strange.

the sharks also added a good coach who brought with him a proven system, dan boyle, and rob blake. setoguchi and vlasic are one year older and much better players. marleau quit sucking and murray has come into his own. im gonna say that is the reason for their success.
