Wow, I didn't realize you and Barrie were so important to one another. No need to defend the guy so rigorously. He's a big boy. For the record, here's a collection of Barrie's posts regarding Holland's rebuild plan and signing UFA's. "I'm still not really sure what Holland could have done since 2009 to make things any better. We're rebuilding through the draft. With the Cap, and how over inflated the UFA market is, it's the way to go. We haven't missed out on a thing by not signing guys like Ehrhoff, Clarkson, and Wisniewski, or Suter or Parise to 13 years." "I guess I was in the huge minority this offseason thinking we had a very good hockey team. Holland, stayed away from overpaying for UFA's, and built a team with a lot of depth. I'm not surprised we're 4-1-2." "No worries they'll sign. Holland doesn't sign over priced UFA's for this reason. There's more then enough cap room to sign Tatar and DeKeyser, then Nyquist and Smith next off season." "I'll take Kenny, who's building the team with the draft, isn't signing any over priced UFA's, and actually knows how the cap works." "I think it's obvious Holland is building through the draft, and won't overpay for UFA's. Teams that build through the draft win Championships, teams that sign over priced UFA's don't." Barrie's entire premise is based upon the false notion that Holland has refused to "overpay" UFA's since 2009. But it isn't for a lack of trying. Holland has made big, competitive, sometimes overpayment offers (Suter & Parise) to numerous players that haven't signed. That isn't Holland refusing to overpay. That's players rejecting his offers.

Holland threw just as much money at players as other teams. Those players signed for less or for the same money elsewhere. Barrie is acting as if Holland didn't offer such money. That's my point. Because the players didn't sign here, Barrie claims that Holland didn't try to pay them.

DD has a big shot from the point, is a good skater, and is very responsible. He's fine on the PP. Too many people get stuck on labels like "He's a defensive defenseman" while ignoring what a player actually does on the ice. I'm not suggesting Smith shouldn't get time on the PP also. Just stating that DD is competent and will improve with experience.

You're still wrong about this. Holland tried and tried to "overpay for UFA's" but they refused to sign. I've corrected Barrie on this point numerous times over this past summer. He hasn't once responded. I'm not sure if they guy reads other folks' posts or just ignores mine.

Granato is in charge of the PK, Hiller the power play.

Mule has 2 goals and 3 assists in 4 games. Yeah, I don't think Babs/Holland are intentionally pulling him from games.

Holland and Babs aren't teenaged girls in a fight over a favorite lipstick. Good grief.

I wonder about this whole "corporation" argument. I worked for a company with season tickets for almost ten years. If the owners weren't using the tickets on a given night, they usually called me. If I couldn't use them, they offered them to the rest of the employees. I assume most people who pay for things hate to see them go to waste, especially those folks who are smart at making money and own their own businesses. -
Weiss may or may not pan out as a Red Wing. Still far too early to tell. Babs didn't play Tatar at the beginning of last season, was in the doghouse, and he turned out to be pretty good for the Wings.

Why in the heck would you root against Weiss? I would love for the guy who is signed to be the Wings' 2C for the next 4 (?) years to actually kick ass at his job. -
It's all the more humorous considering he sounds like Scooby Do.

It's also Z's birthday today ... and my son's. Coincidence? -
What I think is most frustrating now is that the Wings don't give up on bad picks. Kindl has had his chance here. Move on. Compare this to the NFL. Even the Lions, one of sports' s worst franchises, wash their hands of bad picks faster than the Wings (see Mikel Leshoure, Chris Greenwood, Nate Freese, etc.) Come to think of it, the Lions get rid of a lot of picks ... Hmm.

It was back when Lindros' Score rookie card (pictured as a junior player before entering the league) was selling for $8-10 at shows. Meanwhile this rookie card of a slightly more successful and decorated player can be purchased on eBay today for a mere $0.99. (Lucky me, I own literally 30 of these). Anyhoo, sorry for the thread hijack.

Bah, don't take my snark seriously!

I keep doing the same thing. *Avs fans not included.

Ok, this thread is 22.5 hours old. Why is Kindl still a Wing? ::headdesk::
