Well thank the Refs for calling that game lopsided and HANDING the W to the Quackers.... Oh and the Ducks are a bunch of cheap shotting, whining *******. It's no wonder that the team was formed from a corny kids movie.

Even when prices are discounted for the first three months of the season, we still have trouble selling them out??? This just pisses me off. If I didn't have to work that night, I definately would be there in a heart-beat and I would bring every single friend or family member I could find. This is rediculous people, if you have nothing else going on and have $9 chilling in your pocket on Wednesday, than get your ass down to the Joe, show some support. There is no excuse, no Tiger's game to go to, no Pistons game, and no Lion's game either.... Let's get our asses in gear, Nashville has trouble with attendance, not the Detroit Red Wings. Quit the bulls*** and start spreading the word. Illitch has finally decided to lower prices, let's answer his and our team's call... FILL THE JOE!

Haha, they dressed predominately NHL'ers and we dressed rooks and try-outs with a few NHL caliber players.... How is anyone surprised with us losing? Get over it, it's pre-season.
-
Wow, so as much of a hardass as Drake is, he's just not good enough on his own, we need another player who won't add anything offensively to this team in order to appease some of you people.
-
I love the Joe, don't get me wrong, but PLEASE give us a new arena. A new arena is a catalyst for better attendance. I don't mean just selling out games but having the people and corporations that actually buy the tickets, show up. I can wish anyway.
-
I just want to see what Grigs can do.... Weiss is tempting, but he isn't exactly what this team needs. We need size, scoring, toughness, and grit.... Weiss only provides one of those factors.

A superior work-out regiment and strong work ethics combined with a s***-load of heart and compassion. Oh and it's a known fact that neo-nazi's eat McDonalds all of the time and sleep a lot so they are quite out of shape. On a serious note, that is a great story. I don't think that the American media would just ignore it because it is related to the NHL, but that it just happened in Slovakia.... The sports media is crappy when it comes to euro-news.

D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E!

Wow, it's barely noticeable. Even if it is, the lettering moved like 2 inches.. haha. Seriously.

Franzen will either be on the 2nd or 3rd lines. I also am predicting him to score 20+ this season.
-
This kid would be an excellent addition, if he becomes available we should definately make a pitch.

a source at hockeynations reports that Calder and the Hawks are far apart in negotiations and that he will most likely be rewarded more than Wirtz is willing to pay, so I propose we trade Williams and Hudler for Calder, or something like that... Calder is a winger we could use and it is rumored that Wirtz would like a second line center in return for him... I just can't see us trading Lang for Calder is all, that's why I put in Williams/Hudler
-
He signed a 2-way contract.... If he performs well at TC, he'll have a chance to make the big club. We'll see, since having Hudler, Grigorenko, and Kopecky in front of him makes it hard.... but the kid has the potential to be a solid NHL'er.

While I see the meaning of the comparison and the similarities... I will have to agree with the past two posters. It's a different player, in a different time, and the game is played in a different way as well. I do, however, agree that Rafalski is going to exceed a lot of expectations around here. He IS better than Schneider defensively, and just as equal offensively. He will fit in quite nicely and get along with Lidstrom too.
-
I know it's Eklund and everything, but this seems like it would potentially be a move to replace Markov if he does not re-sign with us. Melichar is not as crazy as Markov is, but he seems to be a reliable blue-liner with good size who could play on the third pairing. He would also come a lot cheaper than Markov.
-
Hartigan is just one of those guys who could impress in camp and get a roster spot.... He is a good player who I believe is NHL ready - especially for a team like Detroit with athe talent we have.
-
You honestly have zero logical basis to your arguments. It's all based on petty girly emotional drama, it's rather fun at first to read your reactions, but after a while of you just calling him a jerk and other names without really explaining anything other than how he beat us in the past and so on, it's rather annoying. Seriously, if you have any logical argument, please enlighten us, but any person with a good sense and hockey knowledge would take Forsberg here for the right price and a better confidence in his health after surgery. And I mean any. You want a top six forward who will make our team better - well here he is.
-
We just got Drake, to go out and get Dmac back would be quite redundant. This makes the rumors about us possibly signing Niinimaa quite laughable.... Haha. DMac made him look like the biggest ***** ever.

Elkund says these players are on the Detroit radar.

I believe Ekman could thrive on our second line. He is not girtty so much, and is not going to provide us with any sort of toughness, but I am also pretty sure that he isn't some "soft" euro either. I am serious when I say that a Ekman - Zetterberg - Holmstrom line could easily clean up. I would be intersted in Forsberg too, but only for a 1 year 3 mil (at most) deal. I would also take a chance on Lindros for 1 year at around 2 mil, since it is no mystery that Yzerman has wanted him to play here and that he has pondered it as well. I would want Markov back but for no more than 2.5 mil. There are other players that we could potentially get after their arbitration hearings, so we'll see. I am pretty sure that we will sign a forward before training camp, but we'll just have to wait and see if Eklund can blindly throw his darts and get one to stick. -
Yes, but with guys that are skilled like Filppula, Hudler, Grigorenko getting more and more ice time... wouldn't it make sense to seperate Datsyuk and Zata to see if the kids have the talent to play along side these guys and learn from them, while in the process creating two scoring lines instead of one? Hudler proved that he can score 15 goals with VERY little ice time. Is he small? yes, but did he still score those goals? of course. I think Hudler has the potential to score 25+ goals playing a full season on the 1st or 2nd line. Zetterberg or Datsyuk split up could only give these kids a chance to show what they have. Of course if that doesn't work, you know that Babs will put Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Holmstrom back together and we'll figure something out through a trade before the deadline to address another scorer on the top two lines. This is also assuming we don't sign any of the tier 2 players left on the UFA market. Although Ekman, even though he is not HUGE or anything, interests me because he did do well in SJ and we could use that kind of production here on our second line. Plus the fact that he is a Swede could mean he'd mesh well on Zetterberg's wing.... Think about this: Ekman - Zetterberg - Holmstrom ^ That line would clean up in my opinion.

I'd take Yashin for 2.5 mil or less and a 1 year term. Or something incentive laden, but no more than 1 year to see how he performs and how his attitude is. I am sure any player coming to Detroit is well aware of Babcock's style of coaching and his "don't take s***, work hard and be rewarded" policy. I think Yashin, for as much crap as he has gotten for being lazy, being a locker-room cancer, etc... could flourish here in Detroit where we have been known to turn bad attitudes around and make players better. I do believe Hasek was bringing a lot of baggage back.... but that has worked out just fine all along! Yashin isn't my first choice, but it seems at this stage in his career, he has more offensive upside than Fedorov does.

Who gives a rats ass about fighting.... why? Does it really help us win games? Did we lose against Anaheim for our lack of fighting? We got a gritty forward, who is 38... whoopty freakin' doo. Chelios is 45.... Hasek is 42.... Do I hear you bitching and moaning about them? Nope. Let's just think about this, we got a tough, gritty player who will play on the third or fourth line, and we did so paying him 550k. Hardly breaking the bank I say and still leaving us enough room to sign a decent 2nd line forward if possible. Our team is just as good as it was last season and we could have beaten Anaheim had we had 2 of our defensemen not injured. Getting Drake was necessary to address a need that everyone has been whining about. The only problem is that it's not good enough for those Wings fans who just seem to be locked in the non-cap era still. Get your heads out of your asses already. Thank you, a logical entry into this thread from someone who is level-minded. I completely agree with what you are saying and that is what I was trying to explain earlier when good ol' Lou decided that fighting these days wins hockey games.... what year is it again? For a bit there I thought I was in a time warp.
