Solid move by Kenny at a minimal financial rate too. Anyone who was praying for some grit and toughness on our team and still complains about this move is a FREAKIN' IDIOT.... sorry to call names and all, but geeze, some of you people that are complaining need to stop NOW! Good move Kenny!

It's fun to see these idiots say this kind of stuff constantly but have no real logic to back it up. It annoys me at times and at others just entertains me. Crymson for Wings GM!

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done
SwedeLundin77 replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Wiow, let's throw a big pity party for this guy who obviously has very little hockey knowledge whatsoever. Bertuzzi didn't show or do anything positive for us to prove he was going to be anything tremendous this season. Holland wanted to re-sign him - Bert didn't give him a chance and signed with the Ducks ASAP. Schneider is the same case. We were going to re-sign him, but he is and always has been a California boy - it's where he wants to be. Again - out of Holland's hands. Rafalski is quicker, has better mobility, better defensive awareness, and equal offensive capability and we locked him up for 5 years. This was a GREAT move given the fact that Schnedier was going to hit the road no matter what. Markov was nothing spectacular, not even that physical overall. He can be easily replaced by a younger guy, UFA, or trade during the season. Lang was horrible this past season, he did nothing to benefit us other than score that one goal in the San Jose series that kept us alive - that was it. He signed with Chicago for 4 mil a season which is way more than he is worth. We are a better team with Filppula taking his place. Calder was strong to start but showed that he truly has lost his way in terms of being a good player. He may be able to revive his career somewhere, but Detroit was not the place for him. Seriously, get over it. Nothing that has transpired was really Holland's fault. He slightly overpayed for Rafalski but that was necessary. I am very happy that he didn't break the bank and overpay any of these other good players that were UFA's because that would have screwed up our team. Holland may say he is done, but he never says it with full confidence, he is still looking and trying to find the right fit. There are so many baby fans around here it makes me sick. -
I hope to God that he comes out, plays with a chip on his shoulder, scores goals, makes the team for the regular season and is good enough to play on the 2nd line and give us some extra punch. This is my hope right now!

You could technically give Raycroft a chance, if he doesn't show anything promising, have Osgood play some more to motivate them both. But again, Hasek will be back.
-
They will NOT give Ozzie the start.... the organization does not have the confidence in him to be a starting goaltender anymore, hence why he has been our backup and nothing more.
-
Raycroft is younger and showed signs of improvement last season.... You never know, but I highly doubt it anyway. Hasek will be back.
-
Please Kenny, send an offer sheet to this kid. He is good and will only be getting batter. Oh and he has size, grit, and he is pesky as all hell. I can only hope.
-
I am so sick of hearing about Ryan Smyth.... yeah, we have a much better - similar player in Holmstrom. Why not go out and get a guy that can take one-timers if possible. We need a pure goal scorer if anything. I think we'll go into the season with Bert as our big forward re-signing. And then we can see if Grigorenko is ready to give it a go, because he could be spectacular too - I think we forget that option.
-
Your logic is flawed when you include Lidstrom in your Wings "armageddon $ list" because he will probably be around for one season with Zetterberg's higher income. Oh and Datsyuk is locked in for a long time too, so no worries. I'm not saying that 6 million is what Rafalski is worth, but after losing Schneider, we got another solid defensemen, who is relatively close in stats with schnedier on the offensive side, but possesses a better sense of the defensive zone.
-
Good news, but I was really hoping we could sign him for under 2 million. The only reason I want to keep it down is because of his age and risk of injury due to it. I think he deserves a raise, but more like a million more and some incentives for playoff performance.

Happy Birthday Stevie Y!!!! You will always be "The Captain"

Bertuzzi was interfered with and held in the Calgary zone when they took it up ice and scored (I want to say on the 2nd goal....) It's just bulls*** that their opportunities were provided soley by the refs calls or non-calls. So there were two calls that were never called (on Zetterberg and Bertuzzi) that provided the Flames with opportunities.
-
The refs called this game, plain and simple. I don't like to make excuses for a loss, but please, if you don't see this, than you are either blind or a Calgary fan. How many calls did the Flames get from the start of the second to the end? What like 5 or 6? We got one powerplay? If the refs would open their eyes and not call tripping penalties on Markov (which he never once tripped a guy, his stick was never near their feet and they just fell over) and Calder for goalie interference (yeah, worst call by far too) than this game would have been a little different. I'm not saying we would have won, but at the least it would have gone to OT. Their second goal was scored after a bogus call... so please explain how the refs didn't call the game? Sorry, I'm just furious at the officiating tonight, it really did determine the outcome of the game. Wings will take game 4, i'm fully confident. GO RED WINGS!

When Zetterberg's contract expires, Lidstrom may most likely be retiring or close to it (in 2 years). Zetterberg's salary will replace Lidstrom's, hopefully evening out the level to where it will be next season. I also don't believe Zetterberg will demand 6.7 when he gets a new contract, but will be in the area around 5.5 to about 6 million (just my opinion though).
-
It's just precautionary, the last thing they want are any of their big name players being majorly injured right now.... He probably could have played the rest of the game, they just didn't want to chance anything. I wouldn't doubt seeing him in the last game on Saturday.
-
Lilja has actually been playing a lot stronger lately, he stuck up for himself a few games ago and actually faught, he's been hard to play against lately. The guy may be a pylon at times, but as long has he has good positioning, he'll be fine. I'm not too concerned with him in the playoffs as long as he plays the way he has the past 5 or so games.
-
Definately always one DB... It's amazing how that past can never be removed from the mind, some people just don't have much better to do than to think of it. I choose to either live in the present or look at the future, because that is what truly matters. Good to see Zetterberg skating again, hopefully he is a week away or so. Glad to have Bertuzzi in the lineup, he won't be amazing at first, but I'm sure after a few games he'll start to impress all thee naysayers. Hell yes to Cleary's hard work ethic, they should put him and Calder on a line... We'd definately win all the battles on the boards.

Whoever says that re-signing Schneider is a bad idea, well you're stupid. Sorry, but it really is that simple. Schnedier is having another career year, even with an injury that sidelined him for some time. If we can get Schneider back for the same salary or maybe even a little less, than why not? He may not be the best defensively, but think about it, he isn't that great defensively, yet we have one of the best defenses in the league. If Schneider wants a huge raise, he'll be gone, but otherwise, he'll be back. Maltby has been playing a lot stronger these days, he has stated in the Freep recently that he is trying to play more physical like he did back in the late 90's, and that he wants to get back to that form. Since I read that, he has played more physical. If he can continue to play this way, he'll be back - as long as he is contributing in some way, why not, we could sign him for less. Datsyuk will be back, he likes playing with Zetterberg too much to leave, why leave such a good chemistry for uncertainty. Lang should be a goner though, I hope. We could use some more youth and hard work on the second line. Lang may be able to score and make pretty passes, but I'd much rather have a hard working center up there who can do the same things too. Filppula comes to mind.

Mick can drink, he jsut can't drink whiskey - that's what messes with his stomach. And I would be absolutely shocked if Mick didn't drink. He get's progressively goofier as games go on, this is no coincidence. I have no problem with Mickey boozing it up, it creates some great quotes and funny commentating which is nice to have when watching games. Mickey is still the man, booze or no booze.
-
He also said something about one of the Nashville players getting it to the effect of, "It was like he got hit with one of those African big game hunting guns". It was worded slightly different than that, but that's the gist of it. You booze you loose Mickey.

There is absolutely no way that Bootland is on the first line.... Terrible idea. LINES SHOULD BE: FILPPULA - DATSYUK - CALDER HUDLER - LANG - FRANZEN MALTBY - DRAPER - BOOTLAND ELLIS - HUSSEY - LANGFELD NOW THAT IS MORE LIKE IT. BOOTLAND ON THE FIRST LINE IS A HUGE NO NO. I believe the Wings will surprise us and pull out a win!!! 3-2 Datsyuk, Calder (2) Dumont, Legwand
-
Pays to wait... We got Calder for just Williams and that is an upgrade itself. I have a good feeling that if we re-sign Calder, he'll return to his Chicago form of scoring 20+ goals!

What a terrible idea.
