If we add another guy, it won't be Blake... We got Calder because we believe he can be a top six winger, and he'll be on a line with Lang and Bertuzzi. We will try and get Mayers if we can, if not maybe someone like Gelinas possibly? Please Kenny, if you aren't done, get MAYERS!!!!
-
TSN Analysts on TradeCentre said the Wings are in on the Bertuzzi hunt very much.
-
Read last night that Calder will be playing tonight alongside Lang, and Williams will be playing for Chicago.
-
The only way I would accept this trade would be if we can also acquire Mayers seperately, since we won't be addressing size with this trade. I like it because Blake is a scorer and would be nice to have on Lang's line with Calder, but we need that toughness and Mayers would be the best and easiest to acquire in my opinion.
-
If the reports are right, a 2nd rounder and a mid-level prospect.... WHY NOT???? Mayers is what we need on the back two lines, he'll provide the toughness we need back there. GET HIM!!!!

These guys were placed on waivers.... I think we should trade Lilja for whatever we can get, pick Berard off waivers to be a depth guy instead - he's better than Lilja. Secondly, I think it would be silly if we don't at least try to pick up Cajanek.... If for nothing else but depth. Cajanek has something like 35pts or close to that this season. He isn't a big guy, but he seems like the type of player who can turn it up when needed. These are just some thoughts in light of the players placed on waivers this afternoon. What do you think, people?

Yeah but Roenick was bumped to LA where he had a hard time fitting into their system and then the same goes for Phoenix.... too moderately bad teams. Put him on a contender, he'll elevate his play. Besides with us he'll play on the 3rd or 4th line and be a great leadership type player to have playing back with the younger guys.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
SwedeLundin77 replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
Word is that Calder will be playing tonight on Lang's wing. Should be interesting to see what this kid can do with us. Please revert back to your Chicago days of production! -
I just read an article through mLive about Calder and it says that Calder will be playing for the Wings tomorrow on Lang's line and that Williams will be playing for the 'Hawks... Should be a good game! No zata, but we'll survive. I wonder who will fill his spot? Maybe Flip?
-
Yeah, a defensive prospect named Noah Welch and that's it as far as I can tell... if they actually do get Roberts, we'll have to wait until morning to know for sure.
-
Hmm, on sportsnet it says Holland is talking to Florida about Roberts, Gelinas, and Stumpel.... It would be funny if we swooped in and grabbed Roberts... although if we did that I would hope for Gelinas too since he is a clutch goal scorer in the playoffs.
-
Where is this all being reported?
-
Don't let them bug you Crymson, sometimes these jackasses just don't think... it really is black and white to some around here, sadly enough.
-
I highly doubt this would happen because of the cost of acquring him would be higher due to his skill, age, and production last season and this season. He would most likely cost more than Guerin, in my opinion. I would s*** a brick, however, if we could get him.... no doubt.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
SwedeLundin77 replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
If Calder can play like he did in Chicago, he'll be good for 25 goals on the Wings (in a full season). That is really the hopes in acquiring him. Definite upgrade over Willy. -
Good luck Willy, we'll see you plenty in the regular season coming up and next season!
-
How is adding Berard and letting go of Lilja "tampering with the D?" Berard is clearly a better defensemen than Lilja, and Lilja hasn't done anything good for us this season. Cajanek would be just for depth, we're not giving up anything huge for him since he's on waivers, so this doesn't mean we can't still go get Guerin, etc... And getting Cajanek is assuming we lose someone off our roster, for example Lang or Hudler... to trades. Obviously Lang will most like not be able to be moved, but I can dream damnit!
-
Fleury is going to have to pick up his game if Pitt has any hopes of competing hard in the playoffs. Roberts is a good veteran addition, and it seems like they got him for little too.... I don't know much about that prospect they gave up. I wonder if this means they'll pass on Laraque.
-
I'd say a conditional pick and possibly a Grand Rapids prospect of some sort. Maybe Hudler.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
SwedeLundin77 replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
Are you serious? You're talking about one player who plays for one of the best teams in the league, and another who plays for the worst. They practically have the same amount of points this season. Calder has more upside than Willy. This trade makes perfect sense. If Calder does work out, hooray! Because he can be a 20 goal scorer if you give him the right team, not Philly... The guy had 26 goals with Chicago last season. If Calder does not work out, you save 2 millionish on Williams contract for next season and put it toward getting Datsyuk signed or signing a sweet UFA. This was by no means a major trade, but it was a very smart trade - Calder has more skill than Williams. -

This is a good pick up, anyone who thinks otherwise... well you're wrong. Sorry, but it's true. Calder is a better player than Williams. Calder will play harder than Williams and he has more skill than Williams. Someone said something about Holland calling Calder gritty, well I was just reading on ESPN a quote by calder where he said he just wants to play hard and play gritty for Detroit. So take that, naysayers! Anyway, this is a good move and we gave up just Williams. Yes, Calder was a -31, but he played for the worst team in the league. s***, Gagne and Pitkanen were both in the -20's at one point, what do you want? Haha. Anyway, I smell another trade on the way. Either Guerin, Bertuzzi, Blake, or Nolan will be in... I believe. -
After what Torres did, and all of the other crap that Edmonton does, they have no room to talk about late hits and holding up on hits when they aren't necessary. Even Ken and Mickey said that the hit wasn't late, Mickey even counted 2 seconds and that was the amount of time after Lupul let go of the puck that Kronner hit him. MacTavish is a ***** too, he's talking like this were a Vancouver and Colorado rivalry and someone like Bertuzzi is going to take out Kronwall... WTF? I so hope Edmonton doesn't make the playoffs, they're a bunch of assholes. I also hope we can steal Smyth away too, that would be amazing.

Acquiring Roenick kind of reminds me of when we acquired Thomas. Yes, they are different players, but for some reason it takes me back to then. Thomas was older, and we weren't sure what he'd provide, but he stepped it up for us. I think Roenick would do the same. Keep in mind Roenick would be on the third or fourth line, so he would be helping out. I think he would be a good mentor to have on a line with Flip and Huds, or he would be good on a line with Maltby and Draper.... In either case, he's feisty, WANTS to win a cup already, and we should make a move for him. Wings trade for Nolan, Roenick, and Laraque..... Sounds pretty damn good to me.
