    NY Speculation: Trade Jagr?

Frankly, I"m amazed this thread has gotten to 24 posts.... That is just sadly pathetic for a thread that has no basis in reality whatsoever. Let's stop the madness now and stop posting threads that have zero basis for being anything legit, it's like beating a dead horse, really.

    Eklund

What he is saying actually seems to be true about the Blues and Guerin. The Blues apparently wil discuss or have discussed what to do with Guerin, they may want to sign him to an extension, but if they can't do so in time, or if the amount he demands is deemed to expensive, they'll move him - in which I'm sure everyone would agree that Detroit is pretty much the front-runner, because we need this type of guy on our second line BAD.

    Rental Players...

I actually agree with scotzman about this. The fact that you can give up SO much for a rental player and then have him not even give your team a chance to have him resigned in the post season... well it's just rediculous. There needs to be some sort of stipulation on going back to former teams the next season. If teams trading these players know this, they can take full advantage and the team trading gets screwed. If it is known that the player is planning on coming back to old team, there should be a decrease in the price being asked.

    Craig Rivet to San Jose

Is Rivet really worth a first rounder?

    Zubrus

He's another guy with good size, may not use it like a beast, but at least he has experience with Lang and he can score. If he is available, we should trade for him and put him with Lang immediately.

Wings have made an Offer for Jason Blake

The word is that Blake and Snow had gotten into it with each other. Blake told Snow that he wants to be signed to a new contract before the deadline, otherwise he wants out, wants to be traded. That is why the Isles may trade him.

    Robert Lang

Do you realize that when we traded for Lang, the Capitals received Tomas Fleischmann, a first-round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round pick in 2006. At the time Lang was the league's leading scorer.... Now look at this year and Forsberg and Tkachuk. All I can say is this year's trades so far are beyond inflated. It really is BS. My bad, I'm not sure who is wingers were, but they were better than Williams and Cleary, that is for sure. I am pretty sure he centered a line with Bondra now that I remember correctly.

Official: Blues trade Tkachuk to Thrashers

Not at all, but i'm sure Florida is pushing for Hudler and a conditional pick - that's not going to work for us.

Wings have made an Offer for Jason Blake

I agree with you, while Lang's uninspired play could be for attitude reasons, it could also be because he is used to having a good scoring winger on his line. Didn't he play with Datsyuk last season? Anyway, Lang should benefit from a speedy goal scoring winger (small or large).

    Robert Lang

Does anyone else remember the rumors a few weeks ago or a month ago (can't remember when exactly) about how Lang and Babcock don't get along. I remember reading something somewhere, and now that Lang is looking uninspired and lazy out there - well it makes me think that it has something to do with him just not wanting to be here anymore... Although it could also be the fact that he isn't playing with the type of players he played with in Washington when he was red-hot (Jagr was one of them). Anyway, I hope that he can either pick it up, or we can trade him for a 1st round pick and a depth guy, then take that pick and try to pick up Guerin or someone with a scoring touch soon! We need to move Filppula and Hudler up with Lang, FIlppula had like three scoring chances last night after his ice time was increased. At this point, the second line can't get any worse, it's time for some serious experimenting Babs.

    Oilers Upset over Kronwall Hit

Precisely... Kronwall was already lining up the hit when Lupul still had the puck, late my ass. Oilers lost today, 4-1 to Minnesota, playoff dreams fading I hope.

Wings have made an Offer for Jason Blake

In order for us to acquire both Blake and Guerin, we would be looking at no 1st through 3rd round picks for the next 3 years and also would be out Filppula, Hudler, Kindl, etc... haha It's just not going to happen. We'll get Nolan and Mayers.

Wings have made an Offer for Jason Blake

Blake me be smaller, but he can score, he has great speed, and he is a competitor. If he ultimately replaces Williams, it is an excellent deal. Although I'm afraid the cost for him would most likely be Hudler, Williams, and a 1st.... I believe someone like Blake being on Lang's wing, could get Lang going. Imagine a line of Cleary or Samuelsson, Lang, and Blake... Sounds good to me. I honstely think though, that we'll get someone that you aren't even hearing about. I believe we'll make a push for Nolan and Laraque.... if we cannot get Laraque, I think we may go for Mayers or Lapointe.

    Wings have more grit?

Maltby has said in the media lately, that he is working on being more physical again, he wants to regain his toughness that he displayed in the late 90's, and frankly I think he has started to. He has shown in the past two games to be more physical and I believe that he has a true goal now, not to try and be the best defensive forward and what not, but to be a physical force (somewhat) to help us out and make the forecheckers a little more worried about messing with our guys. It may not be enough, but at least it's a start.
  15. SwedeLundin77

    Guerin a Redwing?

I'm afraid after the Tkachuk trade, it'll take a 1st, 2nd, and someone like Hudler or Grigorenko to get Guerin.... I just don't see Holland paying that price for a rental, and he's smart not to.
  16. SwedeLundin77

Trade Idea if we don't get Guerin

A smart move if we cannot get Guerin or Bertuzzi would be to trade for Nolan and Laraque.... if not just Nolan. THan you trade for Mayers. THen we have Nolan and Mayers to add in. Second line would be something like - Samuelsson - Lang - Nolan Then you have a Maltby - Draper - Mayers line

    MacDonald claimed by Bruins

Well, good luck Joey Mac... This is interesting, I wonder if the Wings were counting on this to happen? Hopefully Liv wasn't a trade piece because now that makes it harder to accomplish if he was.

Official: Blues trade Tkachuk to Thrashers

Ok, if we can get Bertuzzi with a conditional pick, we'd be stupid not to, because we don't give up that much if he doesn't perform, and if he does, good, we make out on the deal. Secondly, Atlanta overpaid for Tkachuk, and it's only going to screw us in trying to acquire Guerin. I'm glad, however, that Tkachuk went East and not to a rival of ours like Anaheim or San Jose. St Louis may have just decided that they didn't want to trade to a division rival? Who knows. Don't forget that we can still trya nd get Jamal Mayers from StL, which would be a strong move for us to get some grit and toughness. Even getting Nolan would be good, since it's his first year back and he hasn't had any major issues, he could be strong playing with some better players. I don't knwo what is going to happen, but I am glad that Holland did not pay THAT much for a rental. Oh and Kindl isn't going anywhere unless it's a really sweet deal.
  19. SwedeLundin77

    Ellis Re-Called

Cleary has an undisclosed lower body injury and the severity of it is unknown as well... It happened last night in OT apparently. This may force Holland's hand in making a move if Cleary is going to be out for a while - but who knows.

    Olli Jokinen Available?

s***, I'd send 2 first rounders and a prospect for Jokinen, then trade Lang for a 1st rounder. DO IT! Haha, pipe dream though...

Holland: Wings won't deal unless prices come down

Holland would not have been able to sign the type of player that this team needs last offseason. Crymson is right, the psat is the past, it's over. Besides, your arguments for Guerin, Sykora, and Dumont don't solve any problems, and if we had those players, there is no guarantee we would be that much better. Holland did not make any major signings in the offseason - result = 39-16-7 record (2nd best in the league). This is a different team than last season, we may be missing some pieces likea big gritty scoring winger, but we have more youth this year, and we've seen with teams like Edmonton last season and Pisani, that youth can step up. We have 2 guys that have the potential to blow up in Hudler and Filppula. I am not counting on this that much, but anything is possible. And i'm pretty sure Holland will make at least one move before the deadline.

    Blues re-sign Brewer

Good moves by the Blues. Next up, Blues trade Tkachuk and/or Guerin to the Red Wings for Lang and Williams... haha - joking!

Spot on Crymson, my thoughts exactly.

Holland: Wings won't deal unless prices come down

With the exception of Guerin (coming off a horrid season in Dallas), the other two guys would not have solved any of our problems. Dumont is as streaky as they come and he's playing on a good line in Nashville. Sykora is good in Edmonton, but he wouldn't solve any issues of size that we need to address. While your points seem valid, they really aren't. I would not have picked up Guerin, considering that most people around the league considered him to be washed up after his performance in Dallas. Holland has two players in Williams and Samuelsson who were 20 goal scorers last season, if they were both performing up to par, we wouldn't be having the discussion about scoring right now, but they aren't. Both for different reasons, Sammy is hurt of course, but still - that is a big part of the scoring being down this season. Holland may have made a mistake by not signing anyone this past offseason, but the record and standings sure do not reflect any mistakes.
