Detroit will not get him right now..... drop it. Every big name or moderately skilled guy who becomes available is all of a sudden a possibility to come to Detroit? No wonder we bash Holland so much, our expectations are so through the roof.

Rumor: Holland talking to NJD about Gionta
SwedeLundin77 replied to SwedeLundin77's topic in General
If we had the chance to get Gionta on this roster by giving up a bluechip forward prospect and a 1st rounder, we'd be completely IDIOTIC not to do so. Plain and simple, there isn't anything else to it, you can ***** and moan about how he is tiny and all that, but let's face it, the guy is all balls, and will do what he has to, to score. And at the same time if you think about it, we could have either Gionta manning a RW on one of the top 2 lines, or Hudler, gee, looks like we should keep Hudler I guess... -
Rumor: Holland talking to NJD about Gionta

And he's not afraid to get into rough situations, he's a battler. -
Well earlier they mentioned through the media that Lidstrom was going to get the "C" but that was just speculation apparently. He still has probably the strongest chance of getting it, but don't be surprised if Zetterberg has it in keeping with the tradition of having a long serving captain.

This topic was relevant a while back in the summer but it pointless now as it will never happen and doesn't need to happen.

Very well put, losing Kronwall for Marleau would be a very bad decision. I want Marleau here, but not at the cost of someone like that. Kronwall is part of the future here. It really is a toss up, cause getting Marleau would be great, but you also never really know how Datsyuk will react to disgruntled fans and critics of his playoff disappareances, and you know you're getting the same production during the season too, so that's a good thing. I would trade Marleau for Datsyuk and Hudler/Grig/1st rounder, but not for Kronwall, it's silly. We have plenty of scoring on this team to go around if we distribute it right, if it had to come to that. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lang, Samuelsson, Williams, Holmstrom. That's our top 6 whom should each put up 20+ goals at the least, and 3 of those players will put up 30 to 40 goals or more.

"Oh my God, this is terrible, I'm ready now to go calling for Holland's head on a plate, Verbeek is the worst choice for a scout, geeze, this sucks, I hate life, this team is going down fast, AHH!" - Generic LGW disgruntled fan response, which can be viewed in just about every topic on LGW boards. "Good move, Verbeek was a sweet player and will make a sweet scout for the Wings." - My response

Saw this over on hockeynations.com/forums/insiders Montreal is apparently interested in Robert Lang again, and the word is, they're offering Perezhogin and a 2nd rounder for Lang. The idea is that this would clear up Detroits cap-space to then possibly land Dumont or have a little more cash for the deadlinee, as Perezhogin could address our winger problem, even though he is still young. I, for one, feel this may be crap, but who knows, it's just a rumor.

Dude why don't you analyze the analyzation while you're at it, you have WAYY to much time on your hands.... Marleau is a better playoff performer in that he scores goals while Datsyuk doesn't. Word is, is that we re-offered Datsyuk and Grigs for Marleau and it was rejected it again. Apparently the sticking point is that they don't want the hassle of dealing with re-signing Datsyuk since he's pesky when it comes to that. They also are looking for a top 2 defensemen, but I'm no tsure the Wings would offer Schneider and others for Marleau, personally, I would take it if we offered say, Schneider, Hudler, and a 1st rounder for Marleau.

Hey, it's okay, Ovechkin is not even ready to lead the Washington Capitals, I mean, come on, it's not like it's really tough to lead a team that will be dead last anyway right? He should have taken the "C", but then again, any player must wait a standard 5 years past the age of Yzerman when he took on the captaincy in order to assure that he will always be the longest serving captain... It's a new NHL rule.

Heard that Lang or Datsyuk would be back-up possibilities to current RFA's such as Briere or Gomez... but who really knows what is going on right...

Yeah, I trust Spectors about 150% more than I trust Eklund, Eklund just throws up smokescreens for Agents and GM's most of the time, or so it would seem. Also the fact that TSN is also reporting that Gagne and Clark have come to a standstill is another sign that Eklund just may be full of it, completely.

ribeiro, dimitrakos & umburger to the wings?
SwedeLundin77 replied to The Elite Wings's topic in General
Too bad it'll never happen, even if it does make more sense. We'll sign Carter before that happens, unfortunately. -
Anson Carter an (e4) Detroit according to Eklund
SwedeLundin77 replied to Zeta Power 40's topic in General
While we shouldn't have, I'm past that and concentrating on the plus side, the guy is a good player and will come to compete. While we could have given that spot to youngsters, at least we have someone we can depend on anyway. -
Anson Carter an (e4) Detroit according to Eklund
SwedeLundin77 replied to Zeta Power 40's topic in General
Yeah good point but at the same time, look at our centers. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lang, Draper, and Johnson.... Johnson is already manning the 4th line, so Draper can man the 3rd, Datsyuk 2nd, Zata 1st.... Lang is a good center, no doubt, but he can also be effective on the wing. Draper is a good center as well, don't leave him out of it. -
He scored 19 goals, 19 assists last year in 74 games.... Now that isn't half bad, since Holland said in the past that hey'd at least like to add a 20 goal scoring winger... Also the fact that O'Neill will actually hit is a good thing too. So I say we let Carter go to Toronto, then make a trade for O'Neill... He'd make a good addition on the second line.

We are giving up Langfeld and a pick, so either this is completely bulls***, or there are some names missing from this. I'm going to go ahead and vote on bulls***. -
Anson Carter an (e4) Detroit according to Eklund
SwedeLundin77 replied to Zeta Power 40's topic in General
EXACTLY! Same thing happened with Lang, he got less time than he was getting in Washington when he was playing with nobody and scoring 40 goals, I'm telling you, if we put Lang on the top 2 lines with Dats or Zetterberg, he'll score 30+. -
Those are Terrible lines! Why in the world would you put Holmstrom on the 4th line? Why would you put Cleary on the 3rd lines? Why would you put Franzen on the 4th line after a scoring 12 goals on the 4th line last season? Dumont would play RW too... Holmstrom - Zetterberg - Dumont Perezhogin - Datsyuk - Williams Franzen - Draper - Samuelsson Cleary - Johnson - Maltby Kopecky would battle Cleary and Maltby for time. This is all if for some strange reason this trade actually in the works, which I highly doubt, because Perezhogin, yes he's up and coming, but only scored 9 goals last season. Lang scored 20+, and with an increased role and time this season will only score more. We can keep Lang and still afford Dumont. My point is that, while Franzen is not projected to be a big scorer, he has shown last season that he can put the puck in the net with limited time, and he was used for penalty kills a lot too, so he did well getting 12 goals. I would hope that he'll be at the least on our 3rd line this season, he deserves it.

THE LATEST NEWS ON J.P. DUMONT. "LA PRESSE: Richard Labbe reports UFA winger J.P. Dumont has yet to hear anything further from the Montreal Canadiens following their inquiry last weekend with his agent. Dumont admits he's had a serious offer from a team but it's not the Habs. He wouldn't say which team but it's believed the Detroit Red Wings are interested. Labbe also reported that the Canadiens supposed interest in Dumont sparked some "insane rumours" floating around the internet, which GM Bob Gainey obviously refuses to comment on. Spector's Note: That would be the "Komisarek to the Islanders" or "Half the Habs to Pittsburgh for Malkin, with the freed-up cap space to sign Dumont" rumours. Bottom line, gang, the Habs were undoubtedly interested, but Gainey wants to maintain some cap flexibility for next season. Unless Gainey knew for certain he could move a player or two to free up the cap space needed to sign Dumont, he's not going to do it. As for the Red Wings, GM Ken Holland last week denied intentions to sign Dumont, suggesting the winger's salary demands were too expensive. Maybe Dumont's lowered his asking price or Holland has changed his mind? We'll find out soon enough." As you can see the speculation is that Dumont may have had a serious offer from us, and just because Holland denied interest in the guy, doesn't mean that he is not talking to him right now and/or working with him. Let's hope eh!

Yeah probably interested in them both as they'd like to add one of them, but either one, they'll be content. We also are reportedly intersted in Bondra now too, I know that's been mentioned, but I heard some more about it lately. We're interested in Dumont and Bondra. The deal for Carter could have been pulled off the table by now, I wouldn't be surprised for as long as the guy is taking after one stand-out season.

It's probably a bargaining piece to get a nice juicy long-term contract from Buffalo now. If I had a nickel for every time I heard about a hometown guy coming back home to play, but that player never did, I would have a s***-load of nickels.
-
Well according to TSN and Dumont's agent, Detroit is in the top 3 for Dumont right now, I also heard from hockeynations.com/forums that the Wings would idealy like to add both Carter and Dumont, but I don't see how that is possible... and it also would stab our youngsters in the backs as well, as cool as it would be. but we'll get one of these guys i'm sure. You can check out the article in it's entirety here: http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=175107&hubname=nhl

Yeah if Lang is going to Montreal it'll be for someone like Ryder, someone more prominent with a larger contract so that they could absorb Lang's contract. I don't see a deal going down with the Habs unless they plan on moving some other guys, although, if they do do this deal, it could technically be a way to free up room for Dumont, which wouldnt't be a bad deal because they'd be signing Murray who is young, has room for growth, and is a awesome forechecker with size. Ok I just turned this around to be something positive, that would be awesome if we got Dumont and Murray.
