Sarcasm does not always translate via text. Good to know you were taking the piss on that one.

It's summer, you clown! -
No no no... more like Stalin style.

So Rasmussen tears it up this past season (with wrist surgery in the middle) and absolutely dominates in the playoffs and somehow we're still on about this garbage? What's done is done. Why can't we wait until these players actually all play in the NHL and then look back and see what was what. At the current moment, though, it looks like we have a very good prospect on our hands. For all we know, he'll be a better player than Tippet and Vilardi when all is said and done.

So.... how about that Parade today... you know, the topic of this thread at the current moment. Not whatever WAY OFF TOPIC shenanigans this is.

Some people just love being rude because "reasons." I like how points are trying to be made and people just skate over them because they've already made their mind up on the subject. Why are you here if all you're going to do is just dismiss everything without actually diving into the data. -

I have 2013-2017 in another post. -
My buddy said he read on a "complete hockey news on Facebook" that Kovy was looking for a 3-year deal around 2.4 million per. If that's true, then it makes a LOT more sense why Kenny was/is kicking the tires. That's a guy that younger guys can learn from... that's another aspect to think about it with this. I'm not advocating for them getting him or not... just saying.

I don't know, it's a tough racket... If he can swing us a starting goalie in Larsson, a solid 3rd line grinder in Holmstrom, and 2 top 4 D in Hronek & Lindstrom (over the past 5 years)... it's better than nothing, but yeah. It's tough to judge him without looking around the league at comparables, which I have no interest in going down that road of data... -

I'm bored, so if we go back to 1990 when Hakan started... here we go (obviously some of these may not be his "find" but they were more than likely scouted by him at least once (which led to the decision to draft them): 1990 - #45 Vyacheslav Kozlov (LW) 1182 games, 853 points 1993 - #22 Anders Eriksson (D) 572 games, 176 points 1994 - #257 Tomas Holmstrom (LW) 1026 games, 530 points 1998 - #171 Pavel Datsyuk (C) 953 games, 918 points 1999 - #210 Henrik Zetterberg (C) 1082 games, 960 points 2000 - #29 Niklas Kronwall (D) 874 games, 405 points #38 Tomas Kopecky (RW) 578 games, 174 points 2002 - #58 Jiri Hudler (RW) 708 games, 428 points #63 Tomas Fleischmann (LW) 657 games, 335 points #95 Valtteri Filppula (C) 876 games, 463 points #291 Jonathan Ericsson (D) 610 games, 120 points 2004 - #97 Johan Franzen (RW) 602 games, 370 points 2008 - #121 Gustav Nyquist (RW) 419 games, 246 points 2009 - #60 Tomas Tatar (LW) 427 games, 228 points 2010 - #51 Calle Jarnkrok (C) 316 games, 123 points 2011 - #205 Alexey Marchenko (D) 121 games, 21 points There are 16 picks total that turned out to be NHL players, some all-stars, some supporting cast. Of those 16, 11 were definitely Hakan "finds." Here's the kicker... since he started drafting (up until 2012), there had been 52 dud picks that didn't turn out from Europe. It just shows you the sheer volume of players that don't work out in the NHL. I really wanted a "Hampus" on the team. -

Andersson, along with several other scouts who work under him, has the responsibility of monitoring every league in Europe where future NHL talent might be found. From September to April every year he watches around 200 hockey games looking for players whose skill sets indicate they could be a fit for the Detroit Red Wings system. Starting in Stockholm, he moves on to cover the rest of Sweden, then Finland, and will sometimes go as far as the Czech Republic and Russia. Right, and what is missed in all of this is how many swings and misses did he have back in the Zetterberg, Franzen, Datsyuk time frame? Before that? I think this whole thing is blown out of perspective because he happened to find some late gems. The guy has been a scout for the Wings since 1990. -

5 Year Snapshot: 2013: #199 - Hampus Melen (W/C) Has not signed an ELC with Detroit (still lanky so not likely to work out) #79 - Mattias Janmark (C/W) 3rd line RW for Dallas (solidified role 19 goals and 34 points in 81 games last season) * We lost him in the Cole trade 2014: #201 - Alexander Kadeykin (C) Bust (has failed to improve in KHL) #196 - Axel Holmstrom (C) Could be a solid 3rd line center soon #166 - Julius Vahatalo (LW/C) Has not signed an ELC with Detroit #106 - Christoffer Ehn (C) Will play his first season in GR 2015: #110 - Joren Van Pottelberghe (G) Only 21, still a work in progress, playing second season for HC Davos 2016: #197 - Mattias Elfstrom (W/C) Still developing in Allsvanskan #167 - Filip Larsson (G) Tore it up in first season in USHL and going to UDenver this fall. Could very well be our future #1 #107 - Alfons Malmstrom (D) Projects to be a big stay at home D. Too early to tell. #53 - Filip Hronek (D) Tore up his first season in GR. Should be a top 4 with Wings by next season. 2017: #100 - Malte Setkov (D) Too early to tell, had a good season #38 - Gustav Lindstrom (D) Improved in second season with Allsvenskan and will be playing in SHL this upcoming season. -
I feel like, from an outside source who really doesn't know anything specific about Bylsma other than he has a cup with Pittsburgh, that this is a good move. I also read comments from PEN15 fans who are saying that he's a nightmare and isn't good with the players (treats them like employees instead of men). Yeah, he's already slated on ElitePropsects to be playing for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
-
Haha, in desperate need of center depth... Larkin, Zetterberg, Nielsen, Helm, Glendening, Athanasiou (technically), Turgeon, Rasmussen. We need centers, but prospects mostly.
-
What possible reason could we have for getting a 29 year old center who hasn’t cracked 35 points in 8 seasons and his best season was 09/10 with 40 points?!? Please God let that rumor be false. If we can trade up to 7 and pick one of the top D and Wahlstrom... yes yes yes
-
Well Bylsma has been an assistant to Blash the past two worlds and he’s a local guy with a Stanley Cup as a head coach. I would be surprised if he wasn’t in the running.
-
There is a case to be made for having a guy or two that have won it all, that know what it takes, even guys who have just been around the league for a good long time. Daley is one guy who fills that void. It's not going to hurt the team to have 2-3 mid-30 somethings on a team that's finally (hopefully) ready to compete. Vegas: Bellemare - 33 Engelland - 36 Fleury - 33 Washington: Ovechkin - 32 Oshie - 31 Beagle - 32 Orpik - 37 NOTE: I'm not advocating for the team to go out and actively seek a 34-37 year old just to have that... I'm perfectly fine with our D Vet be Daley and/or DeKeyser. Same goes for the forwards.
-
via Larry Brooks of the New York Post, This would be amazing. They have two 1sts and two 2nds in this draft. I wonder if we could unload Ouellet or anyone else to them as well... they do currently have the lowest cap hit right now (although they need to re-sign Tavares and only have 8 forwards, 4 defensemen and 1 goalie signed right now). Even better.
-
Yes, it would be pretty solid: DeKeyser - Bouchard/Dobson Cholowski - Hronek Daley - Jensen
-
Honestly, I think at that rate, just bring in another veteran that costs around the same as Daley, if not Daley. I don’t think E is nearly as good at his outlet passes, and this team needs that. I’d say it doesn’t matter if E was a true shutdown D at this point, but he just isn’t.
-
I think I’d rather they extend Daley in that scenario.
-
I know, and I’m pretty much there with you, but it’s been the norm so I can’t help but have it in the back of my mind.
-
Haha yeah. Did you see Burakovsky?
-
What worries me is what Holland would traditionally do... like re-sign Ericsson in 2 years. although he should done by that point, so unless he extends someone, we should be fine.
