    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

Bertuzzi does and has taken responsibility for the accident that occured by a) apologizing whole-heartedly publicly on television and b) paying lawsuits to Moore. What else would you expect Bert to do? Stop playing hockey forever? I think that even Moore wouldn't wish that upon anyone so long as they realize what they did was wrong.

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

Yes Hudler COULD be the scoring winger we need, but that scoring winger being Hudler would be an easy shut-down for opposing team's defense... We need a big strong scoring winger, not a small, average skating scoring winger... That is the whole point to getting Bert.

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

Yeah, sometimes when you read the news and believe every single word put into it, you become the one who is being sucker-punched... Have you actually seen the clip of the incident? Because if you actually watch it, you'll start to remember that good old force called momentum.

Schneider & Cheli talk trade deadline

I smell a Guerin trade in the works... Come on Kenny, do it! do it! Get Guerin and Lapointe and we can be on our way to a stronger playoff run!

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

What Bertuzzi did was vicious... but the problem I have is when people make a terrible incident/accident into more than it was. Bertuzzi did NOT "drag Moore's head onto the ice." There was a little force called momentum and when Moore got knocked out, he stopped skating and Bertuzzi did not realize this and was already leaning forward, thus momentum carried his forward motion into the non-moving Moore. Bertuzzi could not have known that Moore was knocked unconcious and could not brace his fall. Just realize that you, like many others who don't take a good look at that footage, over-dramatize the incident after the hit from behind. I think Bertuzzi was an idiot for doing what he did, but let's not drag him down even further with that crap - the guy was obviously remorseful and apologized publicly which is noble in itself.

    Blake?

If we had the slimmest chance ever at acquiring Smyth, well I would s*** a brick. Smyth is another type player that we could use and need for the long playoff haul.

To trade, or not to trade...

I don't know much about him other than he is younger, but I remember Ales Kotalik being available from Buffalo as they were wanting to move him. He is of good size and seems to be developing that scoring touch - he's also a winger too. I wonder if this would be a viable option. Anyone have any comments?

    Forsberg trade close

I vote for Bertuzzi and Tkachuk I would love our second line to be Tkachuk - ? - Bertuzzi I leave Lang out because for one I don't know if that line would be too slow or what and secondly, I don't think Lang would be here if we acquired two big name guys.

    Forsberg trade close

What's the source? I remember this kinda s*** happening in the past during the deadlines, specifically to us, and then another team swooped in and took the player away... I am hoping that we will be that team tonight, and swoop in and take Forsberg away from Nashville and into the red and white. Damn, this is scary if it's true.

    Return of Hatcher?

Yeah this rumor has about a .01% chance at coming to fruition... We had Hatcher, and he disappointed us, we're not getting him again, especially in the new NHL.

    Hey Schneider, take another shot

Oh Lord, it's another one of these whine threads.... yada yada yada. Schnedier JUST came off a knee issues where he sat out a number of games, give the guy some time to get his A game back. He hasn't been doing anything wrong that the rest of the team isn't doing as well. The Philly game was a rough game for every player, I mean s***, Lidstrom AND Zetterberg were both -3.... That doesn't happen often. This is called "get over it and move on" time. Do as the players would do, you take the loss, learn from it, and concentrate on the next game. This dwelling on the past s*** doesn't do anyone any good.

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?

I'd have to say that I would be surprised out of my mind if there isn't at least one of those names on the back of a Wings jersey come the deadline.

    Wings and Coyotes talking trade?

I would actually see if they would take Lilja for Boynton... I would love to get Doan, he is pretty much what we need in a RW... but I have a feeling that he won't be leaving PHX. Now Nolan would be an excellent rental player and if he performs, of course we could always offer him a contract for next season. Laraque would be good, but would having such a big guy like that on our team change our dynamic too much? I don't know, is he slower or is that just me thinking of him being so big that he must also be slow too. Laraque might be a good secondary pickup.... For instance if we can't get Doan or anyone else from PHX, why not get Laraque and then go out and get Tkachuk or Bertuzzi or someone like that... I think that would help us out drastically. Anyway, I'm not sure what PHX would be asking for Laraque or Nolan.... They'd probably want Williams or Hudler and a 1st rounder for Doan though.

Is Babcock a genius, delusional or stubborn?

Nothing changes as fast as you or I would like it to. But things will change with time. It's not as easy as people seem to think to just add an enforcer and then we can all skip-a-loo in joy to our amazingly tough team... We have semi-physical guys who can hold us over, the problem is, these guys are not doing what they should be doing. Holland has stated since the 1/4 point of this season that he wants us to get tougher and that he will address it with a tough scoring winger at the deadline. That position has not changed and their are several options available that he can look into. The word is, is that him, Devellano, Bowman, Yzerman, and company have scouted every team that should be dealing and have pinpointed all the players they are interested in - they WILL make a move, but it has to be the right move otherwise you mess up your team, we're not looking for a band-aid - we're looking for a long-term fix if at all possible.

Is Babcock a genius, delusional or stubborn?

You can't always take what you read and expect it to be 100% truth. Babcock is saying what he needs to say as a coach. He is not going to publicly rip apart his whole team and start calling them a bunch of *******. What he will do is give the media the most positive statements he can and lean toward perseverance and motivation for the next game. What, in fact he is saying to his "troops" is probably quite different than what he says in the media. I would have to imagine he is telling the players after last night's game that they need to tighten up, play stronger in the corners, and stop taking crap from the opposing tough guys. That is all he can say really, it's up to the players who can push some people around to start doing so. Guys like Maltby, Franzen, Lilja, and Chelios are responsbile right now for that, and they are not being anywhere near as tough as they need to be. Babcock is just being presentable to the media. He is portraying a, "we lost, we didn't play as well as we were supposed to, and we partly beat ourselves out there." And you know what? With the 3rd best record in the league, I think he has a responsibility to be smart with the media and not blast the team or players too much publicly. It's just not professional.

Back to Back Games = LOSS

Then I would say you have absolutely no clue about what you are talking about sir. Enough said. Freakin' naysayers, I'll tell you, at the slightest form of adversity throughout this sesaon, people just throw in the towel - can anyone say fairweather?

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?

Tkachuk is not old and washed up... I seriously don't understand where some of you get this crap, it's probably just because you don't like the player personally so they must be crap all-around. Tkachuk would be a prime candidate for us to get, he's not afraid to hit, will stick up for his teammates at all costs, and can score. When you bring up the 18 goals thing, it's really a non-point since he plays for St Louis, Guerin has 22, not THAT much better... We would only benefit from having Tkachuk on our team over Williams especially. If we were to at the very least trade for Tkachuk and Lapointe, well, we would be in much better shape heading into the playoffs. It is apparent after watching the Flyers game that we seriously need some toughness, because we won't make it past the first round without it. Teams like Anaheim and San Jose will own us as is. I am counting on Holland to add the strength we need. Bertuzzi, Tkachuk, Guerin, or Horton should be coming in at least. And on top of that I think we should push for Lapointe to play with Draper and Franzen/Maltby. I still would love Forsberg, but only if we sign one of the guys listed above as well to add some more toughness to this squad of nancy's - seriously, we don't even stick up for our goaltender or star players when they get run or knocked around, it's getting really old now.

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?

I wouldn't believe that report for one second.... Anaheim cannot be that idiotic, plus we're going to get him anyway... haha. The power of the Swedes is tooooo tempting for Foppa.

    Nagy goes to DALLAS

I would cringe to see Nagy on the Wings anyway... I can just see him and Datsyuk breaking in on a 2 on 1 and passing the puck back and forth to each other because neither one can decide to pull the trigger. About the resource not being available, I would think that that just means that NHL.com is editing their news page there and maybe adding on there that the Wings have traded for Forsberg.... haha. I'm sure the Nagy deal is done, just some minor tinkering with getting it to the press and such.

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?

Well I think the freepress report was written a few days ago, Montreal has been dropping games left and right lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if Forsberg was thinking of changing his mind considering Montreal may not make the playoffs this season at all if they continue their pace. Besides, I cannot imagine Philly trading Foppa to another eastern conference team, they probably want him in the west somewhere.

2/12 GDT: Red Wings @ Flyers

I wonder how much, if at all, they'll mention the possibility of Forsberg going to Detroit since this game is being aired on Versus. Hmm, I hope it comes true (as long as Forsberg's foot is truly feeling better). People say he went to Sweden and got a boot that fit better so he's feeling better, but I actually remember hearing that he got an orothotic which is an insert that is molded to his foot and placed in the boot... so which way was it? I was confused when they said that because I would have assumed that would be their first course of action (the orothotic) since I had foot problems in my skate boot and the first thing the doctor did was get me fitted for them and I felt better almost immediately when using them. Forsberg in red and white sounds quite right.

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?

If this all goes down as the reports say it will (which it rarely does), but if it does it works out quite well for us. Forsberg is a greater benefit to our team than Lang, that is a point that should not and cannot be argued against. So to acquire Forsberg, place him on the second line, than trade Lang for a pick or prospect to NYR would only benefit our squad. You would not have to mess with our number one line, and if for some reason our number one line slows down, you have Foppa there to mix in and see if he can stir up some things, afterall, the though of Forsberg and Zetterberg on a line spells pure magic. My hopes would be to trade Hudler and 1st rounder for Forsberg. Trade Lang to NYR for 1st or 2nd rounder or a decent prospect. Then trade for either Tkachuk, Guerin, or Lapointe. Obviously Lapointe may be the easiest to attain, and I have to say, he may be a perfect fit on a line with Draper and Franzen or Maltby. I'd look for Williams to be dealt in such a move too. This would mean that we could keep Filppula and Kopecky (when he returns) on the fourth line with Franzen, Maltby, or Langfeld. I also do not like these Nagy rumors one bit. Nagy is exactly the type of player we don't need, he is a winger yes, but not a physical one, and also has not had the greatest of season thus far with PHX with only 8 goals. Please Holland do not look at Nagy for one second. I really hope we can make some strong moves and remember, the above statements are just my opinions. I really hope, as long as Forsberg is playing better and experiencing less pain, that we can acquire him and a guy like Tkachuk, Guerin, or Lapointe. I also am hearing more and more about Horton possibly being shopped, he'd be a nice fit and an excellent player to build our team with alongside Zata, Dats, and Kronner. But that price is probably far too steep.
