The Wings Were Not Playing Very Well Early In This Game Even Before All TheGoals Happened. They Had Allkinds Of Chances With Pp Early In The Game. Oh Well, Hope ForA Grea Game Monday

Well if we don't win, my mind goes back to that back to back against Columbus where we played terribly and lost both games. Come on guys, show up, play hard, get the breaks, win the game.

I think reality is setting in for people, in that the blue line has been desimated and nothing has filled those holes. And people have hoped and prayed that the Wings, being the wings, would overcome it, but that absolute disaster of a game exposed every hole on this team yesterday. One thing is for certain, it looks like this season we are going to find out just how good Howard is. The goalies that stand on their head and will their teams to playoffs do it with average defenses. We'll see if Howard can do that or something close to it, becuase the argument that the defense masks how poor he is will be taken away. I'll be interested to see how Howard performs this season.

At least we get to play the blue jackets next. It's like being on a losing streak and you got the Lions up next.

Same nuttieness of why you can't cross check anywhere on the ice but inf ront of the net you can break your stick over a guy and it's fine. I will never get that one.

I had to listen on sports radio all day about people thinking the wings would be good this season. I really don't know how it's gonna happen unless they sign some free agents. The wings were not that great defensively last year with Lids and Stuart. They were good but not great, and most of us I think dreaded the hole on the blue line when they left. The fact Holland got nobody to fill the hole is really showing. It been a long time since the wings got beat up this bad in a game. First period at one point the shots were 16-2 Blues. I really don't remember the last time the wings were dominated that badly in shots. 5-0 is nuts. Wings may just have to bend over this year, sadly. Just not a fan of the game itself anymore. The brass has destroyed it. I don't know how this product is considered good. cough 6-0 cough. Sigh...

At least Nascar was/is on ESPN. Hockey is dead for now. We are all fans of hockey but we have shrunk into a niche type sport sadly. Thanks Bettman. 3 lockouts in his tenure.

I hated Tootoo because of the way he annoyed me, but now I am glad he will be annoying other fans. I am glad to have him as long as he doesn't commit stupid penalties on a regular basis. And please fans, do NOT carry over that damn whistle.

I agree with alot of what you say. However, I don't think it's sour grapes becuase if a team like Vancouver won the cup, I wouldn't say what i said. The 2008 wings had more superstars/stars on that team than the Kings. Maybe Quick is an up and coming superstar, maybe not. People thought that about Giguere. Where's he now? I'm just saying that in general, I don't think it is good for hockey. Now, if the Kings players go on to turn into super stars, then I can look back and say "ok, it was a super star team in the making". BUt I just don't think parity works in hockey at all, at least, not with 30 teams and the talent thinned out. I don't know, I guess I just don't like how the league is changing. On one hand I like the speed of the game, but on the other, the balanced towards the importance of 3rd and 4th line players is too high in my opinion. The saying that "you have to have your stars come through for you" is really not accurate anymore. It's always been about having a solid supporting cast, I just think that the importance of 1st/2nd liners is not as high as it used to be. I don't know how else to say better what I'm trying to get across. I was disappointed with the Wings this year, but I had no expectations toward the end of the year when they couldn't win much. You compare the wings 2008 to LA this year, well I think the Wings had at least one player that is arguably the most exciting player in the league, and that's Datsyuk. And they have an all time great in Lidstrom on defense. The rest were not superstars, even Zetterberg I don't consider a superstar. But at least they had a couple of superstars that made the game a bit exciting. BUT EVEN THEN, looking at the wings of 2008, the excitement level was far less than the 2002 team, or even watching other high powered teams like the Avalanche back then (I hated them but they were almost a carbon copy of the wings and were unbelievably good). LA won the cup, but they lose 1 more regular season game and they don't even make the playoffs. Then we are talking about a completely different team, maybe Vancouver goes on to win the cup. It's just funny how things work out. LA could not even come close to making the playoffs next year. Hell, maybe the wings don't. I guess I just want to see teams that have high flying offense and aren't primarily composed of grit. That's boring, and the league ratings say it.

I think it was kind of exciting to watch the underdog come out of nowhere and beat 3 top seeds and then win the cup. The way that they did it was amazing. But who thinks it is good for hockey? Because I think it isn't. I don't mean to be so negative, but come on. I think it's a statement on how the parity in the league sucks. I don't think a team like that should be winning the cup. How can you look at a team like the 2002 wings or even the avalanche at the time and then have the same bunch of no-names that probably won't even make the playoffs next year win the cup? I'm not trying to bash, and I'm definitely not trying to put LA down specifically, but more in general, why are the wings trying to go after high priced talent then when it is looking more and more like what it takes to win is really just grit and speed? Most people have no idea of ANY of the players on the kings. Is there really a superstar? Maybe one in the making, but right now is there really one? I guess I just miss having two high talented teams going at it. I know I know...spilled milk. Sorry. I just think we are in for more of these kinds of teams winning the cup. It's crazy how essentially every highly offensive skilled team went out in round 1 this year. Is this just an aberation or is it a sign of more to come?

Due to the parity in the league we'll never see power house teams again. Sigh. This still gives me chills though.

Um, after this year the Preds team is going to get broken up. The Preds aren't a rising beast. LA is doing something special right now. Imagine it, they could knock off 1, 2, and 3 seeds and win the cup as an 8 seed. It's amazing how LA hasn't really had to deal with much adversity, knocking off VAN in 5 (coulda easily been 4) and now about to knock off the blues in 4. Unbelievable. I never believed in the blues, but I believed in the Canucks lol.

I'm watching...because I am intrigued to see the 8th seed in the brutal west manhandling the 1 seed and now the 2 seed. Still a bit shocked about how all the high flying, offensive minded teams got knocked out in round 1. I don't think that's good for hockey in general because offense is fun and you want your big time stars playing and scoring, but for die hard fans it's pretty interesting.

I find it to be a disgrace to the NHL that every team that is loaded with offensive talent is sitting on the sidelines. WIth that said, good for LA I guess lol. They have the best goaltender remaining and they're probably the team going to the finals as the 8th seed, and i would say they will face the Flyers... If LA's goaltending continues this hot, they'll win the cup. And I think that's pathetic honestly. Good for them, but for the NHL that's pathetic. The average hockey fan can probably only name 1 big name player remaining in the playoffs, and that's Ovechkin.

Since the league decided that if you so much as pass gas in front of a player in the Pitt/Flyers series, you'll be thrown out, I think all the series have become more timid, i.e., boring. But, I don't have any ill will toward the Predators, and now that we are out, if they go on to win the cup (although nothing about them strikes me as a cup worthy champion), it would be a great underdog story. So, my support is with them. I hate Vancouver, Chicago, Phx, StL, LA, SJ, and the eastern teams are just boring to me (except the flyers/pitt series, but now that one's even turned boring). I want violence and I want scoring.

I agree with this guy. It's whining over spilled milk. The NHL is sissified enough. We don't need to go down the road of handing out fines and suspensions for an automatic penalty that the ref didn't see. The refs don't see alot during the course of a game. Another thing that's absurd, when coach Quenville got a 10,000 dollar fine for 'COMMENTS' about the Hossa hit, yet Weber got 2500 for deliberately smashing someone's head into the glass LMAO. How was that player max fine ever negotiated? Unbelievable. I'm over the incident, it's just the hipocrasy in this league.

Nashville's defense was amazing all game. They didn't even need Rinne to stand on his head. What a frustrating playoffs. Oh well. Good luck to Nashville.

The preds defense was absolutely flawless all series. They deserve to win.

Preds aren't giving anybody any room to move...that's a benefit of their speed and size. Can't out skate them. Helm would be a game changer in this type of series...
