    We're Down One Goose

And not just that, they have been KEY players such as Pav, Hank, Alfie, Franzen, Weiss, Ericsson, Dekeyser, Howard. We have been VERY unlucky with injuries the last couple years I think the Hockeygods owe us this year,

On the NHL site on the schedule there is a channel listed showing the game tonight. I do not know what the channel is, but that means that there should be a stream made available online tonight. Of course I am staying in Europe for the year, but I will still be staying up late with the time difference to watch my Red Wings games, pre- season included! Lets go Wings!

    Training Camp Thread

I think Babs is going to go with Pav and Hank together to start the regular season. He continues to reference Weiss as the 2nd line centeman, which means Hank will likely play on the 1st line with Pav. Hank- Pav- Helm/ Aflie Franzen- Weiss- Nyquivst Jurco- Sheahan- Tatar The Red Wings have a GREAT group of forwards, far better then what people act like. IT is actually hard to come up with lines because there are lots of difference possiilities so I am looking forward to this season.

To add to that, Pav did not get any points today either. I guess we should bench him? I don't understand why some Red Wings fans need to be so negative all the time. I am more than willing to give Weiss another chance to prove himself. He is a heck of a player and lets see what he can do healthy this year before we dump him in freakin training camp!

    2014 Preseason Thread

If Helm's injury problems continue I think it will become time to trade him away in some sort of package. I love Helm as much as anyone, but quite frankly I am sick and tired of having him injured all the time. The guy is always hurt.

Predictions for the DRW 2014-15 Season!

Last season Howard costed us around 10 games before Jan.1st and then after that he found his game. To add to that, We missed Pav and Hank for half the season, Weiss pretty much the whole season, Helm off and on all year, Franzen was hit or miss, Alfie missed time, Danny D, Smith and Ericsson all missed chunks of time. Going into this season, with a very good schedule that we have, a fresh healthy load, there is NO REASON to think that this team cannot do substantially better than we did last year. I mean for God sake, in March alone, we litererally did not have Pav, Hank, Weiss, Helm, Anderson (5 centerman) hence why we had to trade for Legwand. I would LOVE to see how any other team in the league would fare in that situation. Lets stop being so negative and wait to see what our healthy team can do, with the kids also playing important roles.

    Alfie wants to play

If Holland was willing to re-sign useless Cleary to another AWFUL contract, then he better be willing to give a contract to Alfie. I will be SHOCKED if he does not bring Alfie back since Alfie said he wants to play. Alfie at 40% is still better then Cleary. Alfie scored 17 goals last season, would have hit 20 had he not missed some games. He was a good leader for the kids while Pav and Hank were both out. He is still extremely effective and is such a smart hockey player that can make our powerplay more lethal then not having him there. I say we bring him back and see what this team can do with a healthy Pav, Hank, Weiss and Aflie.

Quincy is our 5th best dman and we are wasting 4 million on him... Pretty sure that is a hugeeee problem.

Hockey News: Red Wings ‘D’ hunting

While that is true, it is also kind of misleading. In 2002, Pav was playing his rookie season on a team of legends. He was playing behind superstars such as Stevie Y, Federov, Shanny, Hull, and so on. He did not get that much playing time and did not get much powerplay time. In contrast, Tatar was relied on by the Wings this season because of injuries. He got close to 20 min a game at some points this season. I am not saying Tatar is not good, but that is misleading to say. However, I do agree with you that I think it is a mistake to trade him away unless it is for an Erik Karlson.

Well...at least we're not Philadelphia. Giroux Arrested.

It would be better because I hate Crosby and would love the NHL posterboy to be made fun of for it.

The only thing better would be hearing Crosby grabbing a males rear end haha.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

If we are going to give up that much for Myers, we might as well at least trade for Erik Karlson from Ottawa.

Zetterberg- Datsyuk- Alfie Nyquist- Thorton- Cammalari Jurco- Weiss- Tatar Abby- Helm- Glendening Kronwall- Smith Dekeyser- Boyle Ericsson- Oulette/ Sproul For Thorton we trade: Franzen, Sheahan, Kindl and a 1st (or something like that) I think that would be an extremely deep roster and, barring injuries (the hockey gods owe us a healthy season!) then that is a cup contending team.

My gut tells me he is going to play again. If he was going to retire he would have known by now.

    Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill

What exactly has Howard proven then? Since he became our starter, he has failed to get us past the 2nd round. Mrazek has unreal numbers for a rookie goalie, and has looked very confident in the games I have seen him play. He has had a ton of AHL experience to add to that. What I like most about him is that he does not give up on plays, much like Dom Hasek. Is he better then Howard? Not yet. But it looks like he has a good shot at taking the #1 spot within the next couple seasons.

    Dan Cleary may return...sigh

If Dan Cleary SOMEHOW is given a roster spot on the Red Wings then I think all us Wings fans should go to every single pre-season game and chant CLEARY SUCKS... maybe that would send him a message to just go away already along with tell Kenny we are fed up with his loyalty.

2014 SCF : (2) The Big Apple vs. (3) Hollywood

O'Halloran does not call goalie interference like he used to back when the Red Wings were supreme to the rest of the league. I watch a lot of games for lots of different teams during the season and he is actually one of my favourite refs these days. What I have liked about him the past couple seasons is that he is one of the more consistent refs and he tends to let things go more often then not. I can understand where he is coming from not wanting to make the call tonight on the 3rd goal because from where he was standing he thought he saw a push. The problem I have is really two. First of all, the NHL has done a poor job explaining to the refs what to call for goalie interference. Refs simply never know how to call in and that is on the league. That leads to my second point that plays like that happen so fast, it is easy for the ref to see something that did not actually happen. Like tonight, I understand O'Halloran thought there was the Ranger player who pushed the Kings player. But if the league would allow the coach's challenge one per team, then we would not even be discussing that right now.

2014 SCF : (2) The Big Apple vs. (3) Hollywood

Kings win largely due to the NHL officials STILL not getting the calls right for goalie interference. Lunquivst was clearly interfered with on that 3rd goal, but yet that goal counted, which paved the way for the comeback. The NHL consistently gets that call wrong and what a shame that that goal is what killed the rangers tonight, even though it should not have counted. I cannot count how many times we have been burned with that rule. IMO this is why coaches should have 1 chance a game to challenge a call.

    - Re-sign Aflie, Monster - Sign Dan Boyle to a two year contract - Sign Gaborick or trade for Hossa (if rumours of Chicago looking to shed him for cap space is true) - Sign Brian Boyle (Big body, always competes, finishes his hits, blocks shots, scores some goals... the kind of guy we need) - Make sure you dumb Kindl and Lashoff That would be a great offseason game plan for the Wings and would for sure make us cup contenders, as long as our key guys stay healthy

WCF: (6) California Dreamin' v (5) The Night Chicago Died

This was a very entertaining series. Both goalies were good at times making some unreal saves, but overall they were below average. LA is a very good team, but there is no denying that they have benefited in this years' playoffs from some crappy goaltending against them. It is going to be an entirely different story in the finals as Henrik Lunquivst is completely on his game. I think it is going to be a lot more low scoring in the finals and, despite what everyone thinks, I think the Rangers are going to take it just because Lunquivst looks significantly better then Quick. IMO, this is the finals that we should have seen 2 years ago instead of LA and the Devils.

ECF : (5) New York Rangers vs. (4) Les Canadiens de Montréal

Henrik Lunquivst once again STEALING a game for the Rangers! To anyone who ever questioned Howard being close to the King can look at this and never again make that comparison again. He was the sole reason they beat the Pens and, just continues to dominate. He was simply unreal tonight, jaw dropping with some of his saves. But the best thing for me was watching Michielle Terriens post game conference and it was an exact replica of the one he had in 2008 against the Wings complaining about the refs. He is such a joke.
