Good game by the Wings... this reminded me how great they are defensively, as this was avery very defensive game. Pavs is amazing, as is Hank, And frick Mule is on a roll... all in all a great team effort... I thought Dom looked really good tonight... he seemed faster and made some nice saves, especially on that last powerplay against the wings when it was still 2-1.... P.S, congrats to Babs for another 50 win season... GO WINGS

Seriously, the Sharks don't scare me at all. Last time they played us, they had their entire team playing, meanwhile wings were missing cheli,rafi, lids, clearys.... and Dom was rusty on his first night back in 3 weeks.... and yet they barely beat us, and technically didn't becasue their 3rd goal shouldn't have counted. They are not a big threat, they are just playing well right now, wings can and will easily match them in the playoffs if they make it to the finals with the wings...

Sorry to say it, actually I'm not, but Babs said Dom was playing tonight. After the win the other day, in an interview he said Dom earned to start today against the BJ's, and it would be another good test for Dom. So NHL s preview is wrong, Dom will be between the pipes, as it would make no sense not to start him again after his great performance the other night, becasue Babs wants to get him into a groove for playoffs, and if it isn't back to back, Babs won't play Ozzy... he himself said Dom is playing tonight, I'll take his word over the NHL preview, since he is the coach and all... Anyways, I predict 4-1 Red Wings (Dats, Z, Mule, Malts) and Dom plays spectacular.... GO WINGS

Guys... lets just stop the goalie arguing... its pointless and is getting nowhere. Every single goalie, I don't care who the hell they are, will have a few games here and there where it just doesn't go their way at all; everything bounces against them--- that was Dom's case today. Ozzy has had some games like that too this year, but guess what, THEY CAME BACK STRONG. Lets face it, a lot of teams in the NHL would kill to have one of our goalies; we have 2 great goalies, and Dom just had a rusty return thats all. So how about everyone quits ragging on Dom and see how he plays Wednesday (Me thinks Dom will be shuttin the door and eatin the key) . I can GUARANTEE that Dom will play amazing Wednesday to get back into the game, for the fans, the team, and himself... so instead of hatin on our players for 1 bad game in a long time, how about we give him a chance... you know... SUPPORT THE TEAM

Im not gonna lie, I'm a Dom fan, so I'm a little biased. This was one of those games that just... seemed to all go against Dom. That first goal was all on Dom, and I can tell you, he wants that back, because 99% of the time he will save that. The third goal, from my view, was deflected off of a skate, into the air and knocked into the other side of the net with a high stick; Dom had NO chance there. My point is, it just seemed liek nothing was in Dom's favor today... but one bad game should not mean everyone writes 10 pages about hating Hasek, or any goalie for that matter. I remember in November when Dom was going through his couple of bad games, everyone began hating him and said that he sucks and etc. Guess what he came back and has played pretty damn good hockey for us since that, so one bad game here should not mean we hate him. Babs is starting Dom wednesday against Columbus, and I think Dom will prove to everyone that he can be much better then today, and there won't be stupid pucks hitting skates and that...

except for the first goal, I am not blaming Dom at all. He had NO chance on the 3rd one, the second one bounced off 2 skates, and the 4th one he was screened. It just wasn't his day today... With that said, I think Dom will come out like a brick wall on Wednesday at the Joe to reedeem himself, not that he has to. On another note, I think there is a lack of coverage in our end that left Dom hanging a couple of times, therefore Wings need to step it up in their own end, and keep up with their momentum from the end of the second period...

Im actually glad the game happend the way that it did. The Wings did not play great last game but won, so going into this game a little reminder was needed, to play hard and pass properly and etc. You don't want them going into playoffs winning every single game becasue then they get sloppy; a loss like this is a nice reminder while heading into playoffs... Now, on to tomororw... I heard Dom could play tomorrow, therefore, I hope he does... the team tends to play better in front of him and he will be hot going into playoffs... either way... GO WINGS...

Actually, as weired as the thought is, I do think that it is a good thing. Our team is not playing good right now without their key defenceman, who are vital to create plays, the powerplay, penelty kill, and just to take care of things in our own zone. Not only are they getting some rest, but once they come back (1 and a half weeks from now tops), it will be very much like when the Ducks got back Neids and Selenne, a HUGE confidence and momentum booster to the team. This will make the wings surging just at the right time, heading into playoffs where they will win the cup...

Kronners will be back friday (Babs himself confirmed that) and Rafi will be back for sure by Buffalo game. Lids and Cheli will not. Dom plays Friday, and remains to be unseen if Babs will play Dom 2 games in a row or not (I think he will to prepare for playoffs)

Simply no. Ottawa was having issues in the lockerroom, having clear chemestry issues both on and off the ice, and simply have been showing A LOT of inconsistancy with little to no improvement showing. Now, I am not implying that it was Paddock's fault, but the Red Wings are not nearly as bad as teh Sens have been. They have their entire team with them, when, not only are the wings missing all of their top 4 d-men, their top secondary scorer, and their star goal tender, but they are missing the key players that start up plays in Mike Babcock's playing system, the defencemen. And, even through this, Babs has his team playing hard, showing improvement, even with all these young players. To top that, once our players come back, wings will be right back to old winning ways headed into playoffs... Babs will stay... as he is arguably the best coach in the NHL and has/is doing a great job with the wings...

I'm asoory, not to be rude, but I completely agree with you, for the most part. Now, I do agree something does look off about Z. He still doesn;t look himself, a little slower, a bit too hesitant, and doesn't shoot as much. BUT, Datsyuk has not played bad... In fact, he was the ONLY Red Wing that I noticed giving 100%effort all night long.... every time I blinked an eye the guy was on the ice tryin to produce stuff, set up plays and etc. he is doing everything he should, but its the players around him that are screwing it up... they aren't getting his passes and stuff. I notice he flew back for the back-check, was one of the only wings to win puck battles consistantly, and, I thought, was very good in the face off circle. ( I would like to know why Babs put Z as centre over Pavel before anyways... I always thought Pavel is he btter centre). Overall, with the team right now... Datsyuk is basically the only player that is trying all game long... so I think things will be much like this until Rafi (San Jose game return), Kronners (Tues), and Dom (likely San Jose gaame return) are back. And then things will REALLY pick up when Captain Nick returns on March 9. So, until then I see Pavel the one trying all game.. but maybe other wings will finally pick it up too... GO WINGS

I'm sorry... But Dats did not suck tonight. H had some take aways, some nice shots, grreat passes and a nice deflection. Lets get this straight, exactly what im telling all my dumb leafs friends that are bragging about the wings losing.... when all 4 of our main defencemen are injured, it WILL affect the play from Pavel and Z. Look at tonight, our defencemen did a TERRIBLE job keeping the puck in, especially on the powerplays, and this made it harder for Pavel or Z to set up plays... as they had to keep going to get the puck and try again. Also, these rookie defencemen cannot pass like Lids, Rafi or Cheli... which makes it even harder for our top players as they rely on that. My point is, the Wings will be fine, Homer will be fine, and dare I say as soon as the team gets healthy and back together finally, they will be a force to reckon with, as they go on to win the Cup.

With this 6 game winless streak, so many people, on these boards, and around me, think the red wings are terrible, that they are now the worst team in the NHL, and basically have no shot at winning the cup. Well, not to be rude, but I am TIRED of hearing this.... And guess what else... in the 2001-02 season, the wings went on a 7 game winless streak... but wait.. I believe they WON the cup that year too... Man, guys, wings are just in a little slump right now, and are about to pick up and be dominant.... Personally Id rather have them lose some games like this, then head into the playoffs thinkin they are above every other team... this way here it keeps things closer, and makes the post-season better for the wings... Seriously.... Wings are still the best, and will always be the best... lets not lose our faith.

First of all, I was very impressed... second of all, where the hell do you get we are doomed? You are acting like Dominik is done for the rest of the season... he will be back FRIDAY people... its not that bad of an injury either... in fact Holland said that if this was the playoffs rite now... Dom would be playing!... so quit worrying... wings will get their stuff together, win tomrorw, and be back to normal by Friday... sheesh

Guys come on... the majority of you are wings fans... and, if you truly are, how about you stop whining... no amount of whining will take things back. How about you look, realistically, at what happend today... 1) The defense was much better all game 2) Goaltending was solid 3) The offence lines were much better (at both offence and back-checking) And now, the things wings need to improve on: 1) I'm sorry, but I truly believe we need our top line (dats-Z, Homer) together all the time because no one else can truly shut them out all game (and at the end when they were finally put back together, they dominated a few plays). So back together I think they should and will go 2)Powerplay: wings had a little trouble getting into the zone and set up... and are still trying to be a little too fancy with the puck... (except for Sammy) SHOOT the PUCK! But, keep in mind, the powerplay will be better when Kronners and Rafi return (Rafi tomroorw; Kronner's Friday) 3) I think the Wings need to work a little more on clogging up the neutral zone like they did so well all season, which will help limit shots from the other team, and alow them to go back to playing their puck possession 4) Injuries have hurt wings, but with most guys returning this week, we will be alright... but this tells us some younger guys NEED to do a better job... See, you do not have to rag on the wings, they know their pros and cons.... and all we need to do is identify them too, not all of a sudden hate them.... man wings fans are spoiled.... Anyways... tomororw Wings will win... their defense was fixed today, and tomororw their offence will be fixed... GO WINGS!

I agree, those NBC guys were SO ANNOYING! all game... i actually had to mute the tv it was so bad. Their constant ragging of Lidstrom (of all people) was terrible, and Datsyuk (trying to say he isnt doing his job), and the goaltending (how the hell can they say Dom is a bad thing for the wings? He hasn't had 1 bad game since November). It was a continuos bashing of the Wings by NBC commentators, and it pissed me off... the worst was them saying the wings wouldnt make it past first round in playoffs... Like WTF are they talkin about. Man, I say we should write a compaint to NBC about this... because that was just bised commentating, and it proved one thing... they know NOTHING about a good team, and threfore do NOT deserve to commentate!

My god people, quit frickin whinning! This is a classic slump... we have a a lot of bad games, then we play good (today), but still don't manage to find the back of the net... which sets up for the next game where they dominate. Don't believe me? Well, too bad for you... look at the Islanders... they had the same pattern, then they went to win their next game.... Plus, tomororw I believe I read Rafi will be playing... which will make our top line better... (and powerplay). So quit worrying... I bet anything the Wings destroy the Avs tomorrow... But honestly, all of you guys ragging on the wings for "being the worst team in the nhl" clearly dont know what you are talking about, and you are basically turning your back on them just becasue they are in a little slump. Calm down and understand they are playing without 2 of their top 4 defenseman, without their main secondary scorer, and without Dominik Hasek... once they all come back (will be friday except for cleary)... they will be back to their old ways... So, have faith, wings showed they are still good (played a good game today) and I bet any money they will perfect their game tomorrow and beat the avs... GO WINGS

What the hell are you all worried about... really? Dom is fine, he has not been "injury prone" at all this season... This hip thing is just precautionary... Ken Holland literally said Dom would play right now if it was playoffs... so its not bad at all... they just don't want to risk anything. So, quit worrying, we will have the best goalie in the league playing for us come playoffs, and Friday against Calgary, Dominik Hasek. AND... Dom plays even better in playoffs... lets not forget he was the 2nd best goalie in the playoffs last year... so wings will be fine... quit worring...

I am sorry, but Hasek is in no "funk". Hasek has not hada bad game since November, as he has not costed the Wings a game at all since his return in December. So, no facts before you say false things. Now, Ozzie has not been playing good, say what you want, but he did not control rebounds good tonight at all, and that costed him some goals. Now, the team in general had their worst game of the year, and I do not know about you guys, but I felt the only, ONLY time they looked good was when datsyuks line was on the ice... Every other line was struggling... they just did not seem to have chemestry at all. On sunday's game, I really hope dats and Z and homer go back together bacasue they are the best line in the NHL. I liked the lines against the Ducks last week, Id go right back to that... and let the players get their chemestry back with their line and they will start producing again.... Anways not a good game... but this is the last game of the losing streak... a road trip will be the perfect solution... watch

Alright, I liekly have a biased view here, since he is my 2nd favorite foward nehind PAvel Datsyuk... But I have been reading all over that Jagr may actually come to the Wings... which would be amazing.... I truly think, even with his bad season, the wings would help him play at a better level, which would generate a better level overall for the wings... I think Jagr is the best pick for wings...

Alright... I watched this game, like every other game, and was not happy with the first 10 minutes. But come on, so many of you guys are acting like they are the worst team in the NHL all of a sudden... now I believe you can't be at your best every single night, and tonight the puck just didn't go in favor with the wings. It is very rare that their passing is off like it was, the puck seemed to bounce over wings' sticks, pave, though still good, just couldn't have his usualy magic with the puck, and , though many of you may rag on me, goaltending in the first 8 min or so was off. Im not one of those guys who are going to start hating Ozzy becasue of his bad performances the last couple games, as they were not all his fault, BUT I can safetly say he should have had the first goal and 3rd goal (Dom would have anticiapted that pass). With these key problems, where to go from here?Well, Ozzy hasn't been as good, bench him a game. If Dom isn't ready to go Friday (I think he may be now becasue of another loss) then let Howard play. When he went in net tonight, the wings played much better and picked up their play because they knew they had to play better with a rookie goaltender. Also, passing needs to decrease with the wings... there are so many times where they should shoot the puck but are nice and pass it off, which creates turnovers... they need to find a way to stop that and continue with their usual play. Personally, I CANT wait until Dominik Hasek comes back... at which point he will begin to get ready for playoffs... and DOMINATE... But, don't worry... just a minor slump with little mistakes that the wings will fix by Friday... Friday they will come out strong all game at home... GO WINGS

Well the way the articles were worded, it seems as though this is just a rest for Dom... they only go on the road to play 1 game, tomorrow night, so I think they called up Howard to bring with them just in case something happens, that way Dom could stay home and rest. It seems as though Dom is expected to be back Friday, at the Joe against Columbus, or latest by Sunday,,, so no worries. Unlike what the idiots on NBC said... Detroit does not have to worry about goal tending... but I think once Dom comes back he will basically be a full time goalie for the rest of the season so this is just for percautionary measures... See yah this weekend DOm...
