    Jarnkrok (2nd pick, 51st overall)

Ritola-Zetterberg-Franzen ****-Jarnkrok-Nyquist ****=Some Swede that plays like Holmstrom that the Wings will get in next year's draft. That's right.
  2. The terms of his next contract will be determined by the following: -2% raise if he begins over 98% of his press answers with "Well," -3% raise if he says certain Wings players are "as good as any in the league." -Filipoohlah -1% raise if after every game he credits the "preparation" and "structure." -50% raise if he says to press, "I like winning" Am I forgetting any?

Have you seen him play recently or something? I think he's gotten a lot better.

    Getting Rid of diving

You know I've been wanting to use the laughing baby reference instead of a cry baby reference. Just can't find the opportunity on here.

4th Round Pick (111), Teemu Pulkkinen

I'm more worried about "I'd like to finish my career in the KHL". Please don't leave Pavs.... Like ever....

Is there a chance we can get Kovalchuk?

You would need to know someone with a time machine and go back to the pre-cap era.

    Last pieces for 10-11 roster

The bottom six is getting really clogged. To me, Miller's defensive aptitude was awesome last year and it was what kept him in the lineup. He definitely had a tiny bit of say in what the Wings wanted to do on the PK iirc. In training camp they need to rank the bottom six forwards who are up in the air (Miller, Abdelkader, Ritola, enforcer) on defensive aptitude and see who they can trade away for a late round pick or something. Babcock said that Abdelkader will be on the PK from day one. So if Abdelkader can provide what Miller does AND give solid minutes of tough forechecking then Miller is expendable, despite all the great things he's done for the Wings this past year.

I guess the reason why I'm not all that excited is because all the excitement I have reserved for this type of player goes to Joakim Andersson right now.

    Getting Rid of diving

Here's my evaluation of Franzen's diving past. He actually doesn't dive/embellish all that often. However, when he does, it's so egregious that people will never ever forget it. They're just flat out embarrassing. So while it seems like he's deserving of the diver label, he's actually not. He just doesn't do it often enough and I'm pretty sure he doesn't do it as much as Bettman's bottom *****.

4th Round Pick (111), Teemu Pulkkinen

I can't wait until RedWingsCentral releases their profiles on these new draft picks! I'm going to overhype them in my own mind so badly, haha.

4th Round Pick (111), Teemu Pulkkinen

Is it safe to say that Pulk is the pick that fans here are most excited about? I think he was the only pick where a ton of Wings fans wanted him and the brass actually selected him.

4th Round Pick (111), Teemu Pulkkinen

Does this pick make up for passing on Toni Rajala last year?

A Finnish guy who can perhaps "finish" off Filppula's passes.

Sounds like Pulkinnen is this years Toni Rajala. Everybody on here wants him but the Wings seemingly won't get him.

1st Round Pick (21), Riley Sheahan

No no... His teammates really hated him for taking bad penalties and pretty much his overall sense of entitlement he got from his father, Sergei.

Holland Looking to sign an Enforcer

Babcock had this one quote for Bertuzzi: “No. 1 priority, don’t worry about scoring goals. Forecheck, be physical, and when you get the puck, take it to the net and if you get a chance, shoot it. Look after all your defensive responsibilities, take care of the puck, and everything will work out just fine. If you start worrying about scoring goals, that’s not going to happen. So just play." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/03/rejuvenated_tomas_holmstrom_he.html Can Boogie provide 5-6 minutes or whatever of that kind of play? You hope so but can he really?

Holland Looking to sign an Enforcer

Yeah can we please define once and for all the definition of enforcer, good, whatever that thing is called today? EDIT: Haha, and maybe one day on urban dictionary or something, "An enforcer, according to letsgowings.com, is..."

I'm definitely excited about the Sheahan pick. He seems to have some really good upside.

    2010 NHL Draft Thread

I woke up and saw that this thread had 22 pages and thought, 'Oh man I'm so behind the Wings must have picked like three players by now' but then saw that I was only behind by like two updates to this thread; then saw it was like 8:30 AM. It's cool that we've already hit 22 pages. I just didn't notice at all. Anyhow, I'm really curious to see where Kabanov goes. I doubt he slips all the way to Detroit. If anybody out there is willing to take a risk on him it might be Washington since they they might think Ovechkin can straighten out any wrinkles in his act.

1st Round Pick (21), Riley Sheahan

My hope is that this guy or Joakim Andersson or Justin Abdelkader, one of those dudes will allow Datsyuk and Zetterberg to play together full time.
