They certainly could package Hudler and Kindl/Ericsson or Ritola/Bottom Six forward for an unquestionable top-six forward but it's pretty unlikely Holland will do that. But how will they trim the bottom six? If they were to resign Helm, Abdelkader, Eaves and Miller then they would have at the very least Draper and Ritola as healthy scratches, not to mention the possibility of retaining Maltby and May. Yes I know they're unlikely but just bear with me. With all the talk about class and whatever, I do have a hard time seeing the Wings simply cutting Maltby loose. Though I do remember that they decided to work with Steve Duchesne in that manner. And what about Brad May? The Wings will always need somebody to keep the flies off and I don't think that's something they can expect from Justin Abdelkader. He's going to want to play as many minutes as he can. How can he do that when he's in the penalty box?

Really? What about that stretch of 1 1/2-2 months where the hottest line in the league was Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Hull? That was really special. Especially for a rookie and a sophomore. They were amazingly fun to watch.

I've been wondering that as well. By default I think they need him. His defensive aptitude pretty much saved the Red Wings' PK this past season. I know Helm and Eaves lead the way in regards to the forwards but Drew Miller actually had a good amount of input on what all the forwards do on the PK. Abdelkader is a good player who will be on the PK next year from day one according to Babs. If that were to happen, somebody's gotta give way for it since the PK rotation only has so many spots. At the same time, I want Abdelkader or somebody to be able to provide some good old fashioned physical forechecking and also keep the flies off next year, which means that he will spend a lot of time in the box if he prioritizes that part of his game above spending time on the PK. It kind of depends on what Abdelkader wants for himself and the kind of player he wants to be.

I have been wondering whether or not the Wings' Game 4 performance is just anomaly or a sign of good things to come.

Oh Draper... He's the new Chelios or something. Last year he was still on the top PK forward unit for the start of the year. Then he played himself right off of it and this year was still responsible for defensive zone faceoffs. Then he couldn't do those anymore and now he's really heading towards being dead weight on the team.

It's hard for some guys to understand but I talked with my sister the other day and we both agreed that if her future kids were to ever call her a ***** that she would pretty much say, "Damn right I'm a *****! It's why you will listen to me!" Haha. So I can see how a moniker of that sort can be a source of pride for some women.

I really thought the Wings would do well in SJ because of how convincingly they won in SJ during the regular season. I know it's a different atmosphere but I still felt that way. Ah well. I hate it when the opposite of what happens in the regular season is what happens in the playoffs.
