You have the Sharks and the Habs' Lapierre diving, Kane blatantly cherry picking, Alex Burrows, Chara underachieving, Flyers in the penalty box and Matt Cooke's knee on knee special recipe. All stuff I'd rather hear about from a headline rather than spend hours watching.

It's not that surprising that the Wings lose so much faceoffs against SJ because if I'm not mistaken they were the best team in regular season at faceoffs. What is it that they do better? The Wings need to steal what they do.

Usually a rugged guy like Vladdy isn't all that great of a fit with Nick but Vladdy could handle the puck and make good plays with it. It's why Murph and Rafi are up there in terms of best partners for Nick.

Actually I was just thinking that Datsyuk has a very good chance of being near Lidstrom when it's all said and done in regards to talent. Yeah Datsyuk can do tricks and can really entertain a crowd and will probably be an NHL YouTube legend but Fedorov had a lot more substance in his game. The guy averaged a point per game for 13 seasons while being the best defensive player on the team in most of those years.

As much as I love him, I don't think he's untradeable the way Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom are. If the right deal came along I would certainly pull the trigger.

Yes they did. However, that was against one of the best assembled teams in modern history. Plus, it's not like the Wings can just bench Uwe Krupp and get going like that team did.

I'm not sure how to read that. You have Pav and Z in one column of stats but then you have Thornton and C-Word in another group. What does "turned the trick" mean? Plus I'm sure Lidstrom and Rafalski really help in that area. If only we could SPSS that factor out and get a more valid stat.

Pretty much. Malkin is a good kid though. I have no doubt that if he were a Red Wing we would absolutely love him from the start. I'm just thankful they awarded him with the Conn Smythe and not what's his face. Fedorov was without a doubt the most naturally talented Red Wing in this day's modern era of Red Wings success. Lidstrom is a close second. I have yet to see anybody come even close to those two.
