Well it's not a matter of cap space for me as much a matter of roster spots and the appropriate type of roster spot. The bottom six has a big enough glut of players as it stands today. Also, I really like the way the bottom six has been this year. They can all really skate and they're only going to get better in all aspects of the game. Hudler is a guy who should be in the top six. So is Bertuzzi. Those guys really shouldn't be in the bottom six because of their style of play. The top six will have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Filppula and Holmstrom will re-sign I'm sure. That only leaves one spot for a top six forward. Hudler or Bertuzzi?

Didn't you say that some reports out of Sweden basically said that Lidstrom has already retired?

A couple years ago the story was that he lost his way but eventually became sober and valued nothing more than his sobriety. To hear that he's potentially off the wagon adds a kind of, "Nope, just kidding" ending to that story, which is common with alcoholics but still frustrating.

Hmm... Well, I guess that doesn't leave any room for Bert.
-
Yeah that was... . I don't know what that was all about. They don't call that but then immediately after they call Wolski on a slash (that got negated by the goal)??? Isn't that weird to anyone else? Oh, and also, an interesting tidbit from the Free Press: A bottom six with Cleary, Helm, Miller, Draper, Abdelkader and Eaves has some serious speed. Any combination of those guys and you got a line with speed, which means it can't really be the reason why Babs made that tiny change. But why did Babs make that minor adjustment? Just for a shake up?

Good luck to Jimmy for today's game!!! :goalie2:

Sure but as we saw in the Olympics unfortunately you had a bunch of European players who were probably in great shape but still didn't handle the smaller rinks and physical contact as well as the North Americans. Hudler has to get used to getting hit and having very little room again, but at least it shouldn't take him very long. You think he's improved his skating speed and agility? No? I hope so.

How can this be good from your point of view? He's one step closer to being a Red Wing again.

Predators sign on to stay in Nashville until at least 2012

As if we don't hear the C-Word on this forum enough. -
Ken and Mickey reported that there is no difference when it comes to scoring goals. They said something like in the ten years since the composites have been out that the league has not produced significantly more goals than in the ten years before the composites. Obviously we have to consider more factors than the type of hockey stick. Have goalies gotten better? Have defensemen gotten better? Stuff like that.

At this point, I just want Lidstrom to say he'll come back and worry about his cap hit later. He definitely wasn't the only one who made mistakes on Doan's goal in game 2 but it's mistakes like those that make me fear that he thinks he can't enjoy the game anymore if he's prone to more mistakes in his game than usual. I'd still take a Lidstrom who has lost a step over anybody else to be the Wings #1 dman.

I'm not sure how I feel about that series. I want the Hawks to lose. At the same time, I feel like the Hawks are a more favorable match up for the Wings instead of Nashville should the Wings go that far in the playoffs.

I guess a heroic OT winner is better. If Sammy gets it...

Dude, GMR, you've been a member on LGW long enough to know better than that. Anyways that Caps game turned out to be a little odd to me. Just plain odd.
-
Not that I necessarily want to trade Hudler away or anything like that. I'm just curious. What could the Wings realistically get for him in the trade market? Again I'm not really for or against trading Hudler right now. I'm just wondering what the Wings could potentially get for him. I'm one of the bigger Filppula slappies on LGW and I was still curious what the Wings could get for him.

Hope Jimmy has been building more confidence as the games have went on.

There's too much money to be made, Crymson.

Yeah really. Everybody can beat each other up except the Wings. WAS uses two right handed shooters on the PP point. Selfish!!! Haha, oh mannn... Nice defense Warshington. And Mike Green is supposed to be a candidate for the Norris?
-
Hahaha... Hal Gill you moron. Or at least I think it was Hal Gill.
-
Yup. A good way to see whether or not they're playing well is if they're skating hard. I think that's a really big thing for that line.

Poti just owned Gomez.
