I can see the Wings doing this too if Howard stumbles a little bit.

Haven't collected any in a while. How do they arrange the order of the cards? By team? Or is it like how some did it in the early nineties where they started with the best player? I have one where the first three cards are Gretzky, Lemieux and Yzerman.

There is still a good amount of hope for him. At the same time, if the Wings decided to trade him to a crappy team to get a potential lottery pick then I wouldn't be bothered by it all that much. I'm really hoping for a new franchise player for the dmen.

Mike Green is a hell of a lot more talented than Smith. I wouldn't use that comparison at all. Smith though already has an awesome shot. It's better than your average NHL shooter. He's really good with the puck. Without it, well, you're right in that he isn't great in the defensive zone. However, this year he is significantly better in that area. Also, fighting is not a strength of his but he is not afraid to hit back if someone tries to start stuff with him. I see Smith and Lashoff complementing each other pretty well. Kind of like a Kronwall-Stuart combo in the making.

Haha, no. But when you think about future #1 defensemen replacement, which the Wings will need within the next few years, then he's definitely on the list imo.
-
He's already been stigmatized on here like no other. If he really cared about constructive discussion and harmless references to his favorite player then he would get a new username so that he can make a fresh start. If not then we all need to learn how to use the ignore feature on LGW.

It will be incredibly mind boggling to me if Babs has Williams on the playoff roster. What kind of effectiveness does Babs see from Willy that we don't?
-
I think he and Mindfly are in a competition for worst reputation.

It'll be tough whoever they face in the first round. Can Zetterberg hound the Sedins? Or can the Wings solve Bryzgalov?
-
I wish the Wings could steal him away.
-
Did his SO attempt hit the post first and then off Mason? A little too close for comfort there.

Welp. Too bad I guess: http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hockey/comments/blake_geoffrion_wins_the_hobey_baker_award/

He hatin'... Patrolling they tryin to catch me ridin...

Well, as a call up in the case of an injury. They really want him to get consistent first line scorer's minutes in GR and see what he can do with that. Hopefully he'll get around 60-70 points. That would be the ideal.

Meh. Enough talk. Just play the games already.

The idea sounds absurd since he's a rookie and a rookie just doesn't step into the top-six. However, the idea does have some reason to it. Ritola is a guy who can really handle and pass the puck. In theory he'd be a good linemate for Zetterberg and whoever else since Zetterberg likes to shoot and needs skilled linemates who can set him up. Sometimes it seems like the Zetterberg line (if he's not with Pav or other skilled linemates) is a little too easy to defend because they know that Cleary and Bertuzzi aren't all that great at doing good things with the puck. If they keep the puck away from Zetterberg and shadow him so he can't get a shot off then the line is pretty much neutralized. But now that Filppula is promoted to the 2nd line, Zetterberg has skilled linemate who can handle the puck with patience and set him up for some shots. Ritola is like a Filppula at the wing position. Therefore the idea of him as a potential linemate is actually a decent idea.

I would absolutely love to see the playoff version of Pronger against C-Word and see Pronger tackle him the way he did to Hossa last year.

Zetterberg congratulates the winner of his contest. http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=-6&id=65506

I would actually. Of course by big name I mean popularity. I didn't mean any sarcasm by it. I was just curious if there's someone out there underrated that we don't know about yet.

Anybody have a favorite who is not a big name?
