Another guy with skill would probably help him though. And right now Fil is that guy. I'm never exactly sure what kind of skill guy would be best with Z because as good as he is at making plays he also has a taste for scoring goals. I think both of his linemates should be capable of setting him up for shots so that he's not the only one sharing the puck.

What's with that creepy commercial of Sid and Max Talbot? It ends with Sid saying very eerily, "You're in my basement now....."

Of course. It depends on what's going on the game. One time when I was with my friends I found some room through neutral ice and so I tried to skate as fast as I could through it and was like, "Fedorov!" tried a deke and would say, "Yzerman!" but then I would trip and fall over my own skates and be like, "...Draper?" If only the Wings could steal him away as an offense mentor for Filppula. Selanne might be the only one Fil would listen to if someone were to tell him to shoot more.

I wish someone had his shootout goal against MIN. That was pretty clutch too.

Does this make anyone feel better about losing in a shootout to EDM?

Not gonna lie, I was a little surprised Fil pulled off that SH goal against VAN because of the notoriety of his finishing ability. It was good stuff.

He's just going to respond by saying something along the lines of Franzen has played 16 games and Fil has played 44 games.

Perhaps it's just part of the natural progression of his play. First we wanted him to start playing with more confidence and that involves a bit of risk taking for him. He did that, much to our ire, but luckily the Wings still won and he got some confidence. Now the next step for him is can he play with some confidence for another game and maybe under a little more control.

Thank you Minnesota. Now, this lucky break doesn't mean anything unless the Wings take advantage of it by beating Pittsburgh tomorrow. First of all, Pittsburgh is always a tough opponent. Secondly, the first home game from a long road trip is always tough for the Wings for some reason. They'll have a lot to battle though if they're going to finish the game with a W.

I'd be surprised if the Wild were to win this one. I think the best we can hope for is a Calgary OT loss.

Not really. But they feel really good about how they're playing and if they keep it up then they'll be ok.

General question for everybody: How good has Z been as a setup man?

The shopping list, if Kenny has the cap space to write one, should ask for an unquestionable top six forward. Not a 2nd/3rd line tweener. Maybe a defensive defenseman who doesn't need offense in order to play well defensively. We don't know what Lils will do after this year.

How did the subject of Z come up? Why were they talking about him?
