Why not the ugliest?
-
Do the Wings have any prospects you don't like? Actually I can't really say that I dislike any of their prospects. More like, I don't really expect much if anything at all from certain prospects or have any kind of hope whatsoever for them to make it to the NHL.

Anyone see that video on Red Wings TV? "My Life" (1993) and "My Sister's Keeper" (2009) made Brad May cry. Seriously, good for him.
-
I didn't realize that was him as well. I've really only added O'Halloran to the Red Wing hater ref club but I guess LaRue can be the vice president.
-
Yeah ok he admitted it. And then sandwiched it in between two sob statements. But an admission nonetheless.
-
Believe it or not he's probably not even the worst example.
-
Man that was... Wow... I mean... Jeez. What the hell was that? I mean, seriously. What the hell was that? By that standard everybody on this board should be a ref.
-
Yeah pretty much. I mean, I like that I get to watch the Wings more often in the upcoming weeks. At the same time, I should probably be understanding if by the 7th or 8th game their effort looks off.

Awesome pic. BOOM!

For kicks, man. You know Ozzie. He's a prankster. He totally pulled one over on us last year with his regular season performance. What a guy. Who's got that picture of him putting on the glasses?

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

Scary. -
It's kind of hard to not run your mouth after that game. Chicago had like a three (maybe two) goal and fell apart.

"Good! Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the HATE flow through you." -

I don't think he's aware of what he's really saying. If you were to talk to some other people from Chicago I'm sure they'd display more empathy. -

Wow. Who says there's no sense of community in America? -
Your new pic. Is that Z at the Palace of Auburn Hills? Where did you find that?
-
Nope. But overall they're heading in the right direction. To start the season they took one step forward and then two steps back. Now they're at a rate where they take three steps forward and one step back. As long as they're moving in the right direction then it's all good.

The funny thing is, it didn't really start with us fans: "Hvem blir neste svenske stjerne i Detroit?" "Det tror jeg blir Adam Almqvist (18), en back som er veldig spilledyktig." "Who will be the next swedish star in Detroit?" "Hakan Andersson: I think it will be Adam Almqvist(18), back. Who knows how to play the game." http://www.nettavisen.no/sport/vinte...cle2728724.ece http://www.nettavisen.no/sport/vinte...cle2736914.ece

I actually thought the Filppula-Datsyuk-Cleary line was one of the better ideas we saw in the 07-08 regular season. It wasn't the greatest but it was an above average idea. I do agree that Filppula as a winger is a waste. He belongs at center. However, during their short time together it seemed as if Fil and Pav had some good chemistry. It's a nice option to shake things up temporarily and it worked against PIT in game 5 of the 08 finals. It's not my preference, but it is a temporary option when things just aren't working.

What in the world makes you think that?
-
The Draper-Helm-Eaves line currently averages nearly 14 minutes a game. I like what they're doing out there for those 14 minutes. They bring tenacity, skating and tough forechecking for quality minutes. The third line hasn't had that since Drake-Draper-Cleary line from 2008. If I had to pick between Bert-Fil-Willy and Draper-Helm-Eaves for those 14 minutes I would definitely go with the latter. To replace the speed line with games like Bertuzzi's and Willy's seems foolish. I really want the third line to have the same elements as it does now. If you're going to have Fil as the third line center then why not have Helm and Eaves as his wingers? Maybe Fil as the center would make that speed line even better.

Lines change all the time. It's hard to specify the details. I just like to go by certain principles. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Franzen are the main fixtures of the top six. (Duh.) For the most part, Bertuzzi and Holmstrom have to be in the top six. Otherwise they seem to really limit the effectiveness of the bottom six lines. Filppula should be within the top six. He is best at center but oftentimes looks good on Datsyuk's wing. The Draper-Helm-Eaves line is magic. Why mess up a good thing? In addition to that, the production of the speed line has led me to think that Williams and Leino shouldn't be put into those third line roles and yet they are not good enough to be within the top six (at least with Fil and Mule injured). The fourth line should have a bare minimum of two guys that can skate well and be responsible defensively. Therefore, only one spot is available as a 4th line scorer role that Hudler used to have.

I'd rather find a way to keep Helm-Eaves on the third line. Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Filppula-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Eaves Draper-Abdelkader-Leino/Maltby/May/Miller/Williams Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary Helm-Filppula-Eaves Draper-Abdelkader-Leino/Maltby/May/Miller/Williams Someone who said Williams as a scorer on the 4th actually had a decent idea.
