Why would the Euro style of hockey want him?

He's at least aware of his lack of defensive ability and knowing is half the battle (G.I.Jooee). You gotta give him credit for at least saying some of the right things. Let's see if he backs it up with his actions.

He was willing to come to NA and learn a new style. I think that's now a point of emphasis for future Euro picks. How willing are they to come to NA? Are they strong enough to deal with the culture change?

I've always had a paranoid suspicion that the Wings slightly adjusted their style of play with more of an emphasis on offense so that Hossa would be happy to get his goals. In that case though, both parties are morons.

How was sitting back supposed to be an effective strategy in the first place? What kind of reasoning is behind that? Just the typical "let the game come to you" kind of cliche?

This could imply that the forward combos to start the year will be: Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary Leino-Filppula-Williams Draper-Helm-Eaves I really liked the Datsyuk line during last year's regular season. I thought that was probably the hottest line last January. The Zetterberg line is also a good idea I think but only if Bert can be dependable. I've always thought that Zetterberg needs someone on his line to set him up for goals. Bert could do that but only if he's dependable. Filppula as the third line center is disappointing to me. Overall though his line is very decent. I like the 4th line. Helm and Eaves together is a good idea.

He's played wing before. What's so bad about doing that for 5-10 games this year? A set of games where his role is just to shoot the puck might help his offense.

I see Leino having a pretty good regular season but then a "growing experience" as they call it during the playoffs. LGW forums will then be too hard on him for "not showing up."

I really hope so in terms of his hockey sense. Maybe starting him out with 3rd pairing minutes will help him play well. And as far as him being physical, I mean, he'll likely be more physical than Lebda. Take it where you can get it I guess.

Is he a half step faster though? He's always been able to give it his all in his skating but he still didn't go very fast.

Good question. In the end, you do what you have to in order to win. I'm not sure if the league wants to emphasize offense more and more and become like the NBA. But it's important to know what wins games.
