How did the event do in comparison to years past Winter Classics?
-
See?? Was it really that hard to offer up a decent suggestion you Filppula glass half empty people? I mean, sure, in reality, San Jose won't get rid of Pavelski. But I would say he is a 2nd line center with a cap hit ($4mil) and talent that could reasonably fit on the Red Wings. He has at least decent enough numbers to shut up the people who only look at offensive stats. The fact that SJ simply won't get rid of Pavelski doesn't make it a particularly good suggestion but nobody here could even come up with something as good as that one. I mean, the idea for Sharp was kind of decent but he's probably better for the Red Wings if he doesn't have to worry about his centerman duties. But Pavelski at least not a bad suggestion. Now this thread has a little progress and substance other than arguments like "There are better options" without offering examples.

The media stuff doesn't bother me as much as that one incident where me made fun of Blake's cancer. I know it's only one incident but that's really ******* low.
-
Yeah that's Pittsburgh for ya. Sports are EVERYTHING to them.
-
I don't know. Callahan better score 50 goals in junior.
-
I'm not liking the comparisons that writers use for Callahan. Cooke... Avery... Yuck. I trust George Malik's analysis where he said Callhan is like a cross between Drake and Maltby.
-
I'm sure they're scheming right now. Can't wait to see what they got.
-
The Red Wings REALLY like Filppula for what he brings to the table: -Center -Good enough center who provides option of playing the Euro Twins together -Mature, willing to learn -Great work ethic -Very defensively conscious -Has talent on the offensive end -Great skater -Can play on the 2nd line -Can play on the PP and PK -Can play 16-19 minutes a game -Great fit in the Red Wings system I'm probably forgetting some things but my main point is that the Wings are not going to trade him unless they get someone (especially a center) who can provide an equal or better package, not to mention his price tag. I have yet to hear ANYONE present a solid case for a plausible, better option. You guys already have your bias and that's great. Show me something worthwhile.
-
Apparently: I have yet to hear anyone offer up a plausible option that is better than what Fil provides. A better 2nd line center who isn't Malkin and bla bla bla.
-
That's really the only part to look back on this game. I can't remember the last time a Red Wing looked so happy after a goal.

Floaters gonna float Lovers gonna love I don't even want None of the above...

Enh... They do a good job with the hair dye and the plastic surgery. But for me it just makes it more difficult to see if they have real, solid attractiveness.
-
There's you, me, Aussie... Who else? Drake_Marcus I think follows them pretty well. Newfy... Well, he only cares about them if they're meatheads who are gonna fight or run the crap out of people.
-
Nothing new to those who already follow the prospects. Except that Tatar and Nyquist are not centers anymore. Sigh... HF is stubborn.
-
Yeah. What else is new, right?
-
It would if the Wings would show up. Because it's new years I feel like they'll be thinking about everything else but hockey.
-
Whatever injuries they have will probably get a little worse playing against the Flyers.
-
That record or statistic that says no team has beaten the Red Wings more than times in a row during the post lockout era is quite weird to say the least.

What pneumonia seeps into what's his face and Ovechkin? What will NHL marketing do? Oh noes!
-
Thank you Captain Hindsight! Haha. That should be your new name on here.

http://video.redwings.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=-6&id=88836 Pav go easy on him or did Eaves just fight a good fight?

I'm gonna take a different approach on whether or not I particularly like them as Red Wings. Pro means I do. Neutral means that I don't particularly like them; if they're here, then cool, hope they contribute but if they're not here then that's cool too. Against means... well, let me just say, as an example, Brett Lebda and Jason Williams. Zetterberg - Pro (My favorite since his rookie season) Datsyuk - Pro Lidstrom - Pro Cleary - Pro Franzen - Pro Bertuzzi - Pro Rafalski - Pro Filppula - Pro Kronwall - Pro Holmstrom - Pro Eaves - Pro Stuart - Pro Hudler - Neutral Helm - Enh... Neutral. Close one though. Ericsson - Neutral Abdelkader - Neutral Modano - Neutral Salei - Pro Miller - Neutral Draper - Neutral Osgood - Neutral Howard - Neutral

I gots me two sets of curly fries. They were very delicious. Thanks Hat Trick Patrick!

It's kind of ridiculous that Fournier gets a contract and Nestrasil doesn't. Not saying Fournier doesn't deserve one because I think he does. I just think Nestrasil should definitely get one if Fournier gets one. Plus, I mean, Ferraro has a contract and right now that's looking like a huge joke. When was the last time that guy had a point?
