Tatar Tots. Hey Red Wings, give me some of your Tatar Tots. No, get your own.
-
Well, I'm not really interested in arguing with you about whether or not Kopy fits your definition of a power forward. I'm interested as to why you defend him as well certain others. You defend Kopy, a guy who clearly hasn't made a significant impact for whatever reason as well as lobby for Huds to center the second line, which in other words means make one of the slowest guys on the team responsible for the most amount of ice among the forwards. Yet you're so eager to trade away Stuart, probably the second best defensive defenseman on the team. More often than not you just don't make any sense. Why?
-
Because you're clearly someone who allows himself to listen to reason. For some reason you can't let go of your perception of Hudler and Kopecky when they were Griffins. Huds and Kopy made some great strides in the AHL. Move on.

At least he didn't put Jiri Hudler on there. -

Peoples, it's mostly a publicity thing with only a shade of truth in it. It's arguable enough and so of course they have to say that whiny face is #1 to sell the game. -

Oh boy... here come the whiny face complaints. -
Is this kid going to stay in Slovakia or should he perhaps move on to a more advanced Euro league like the SEL or SM-liiga?

You really like being unique don't you?

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
titanium2 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Right now for those who want Hossa back no news is fairly good news. Jim Matheson, the guy who apparently has the best read on Ritch Winter said that the Wings would've traded his rights by today and as of this minute nothing has happened. You could interpret that in many ways though. -
Leino's? I know Leino's a diver but a primadonna? It was more because of his stickhandling ability.
-
We already have a 2nd/3rd line version of Kovalev in the making. His name is Ville Leino. Ok maybe not but that's the comparison Leino has gotten from many.

Look, the OP is all about outward manliness. It's his general rule. He's not going like any behavior exhibited from any Red Wings that make them look weak, possibly because the Wings are his favorite team and if the Wings look weak then he looks weak or whatever. However, he does appreciate Franzen's skill. It's just secondary to his preference for toughness. That's all. To each their own.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
titanium2 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Hmm. I thought the trade was supposed to happen by now. At least according to Matheson. This could be a sign. Heh, now watch, seconds or minutes after I post this the trade officially happens. -
That might be the OP's attitude. I'm more of the, "he's a Red Wing and therefore no 23 year old kid should ever have to scream at him to get up off the ice." I don't really care if Franzen's fights or not. In fact, I'd be happy if he was more of a pacifist like Lidstrom and Zetterberg and just tied up a guy during a scrum until he calmed down. Just don't exhit any moronic behavior associated with wussiness that would require a ref calling you out on diving or flopping after contact.
-
I don't mean to bash Franzen exactly, just those journalists and fans who call him a power forward.
-
It is very, very difficult to call Franzen a power forward when, wait, how old is Getzlaf, 23? And how old is Franzen? 30? Yeah, when a ******* 23 year old screams at a 30 year old to get his ass up off the ice and stop diving. My God that was embarrassing. Also, when the ref calls him on his diving but takes pity and doesn't call an unsportsmanlike. If you're going to associate the word power with a player, it better not be Franzen.

But Wilson wasn't hired to coa--Oh I see what you did there you....

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
titanium2 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
With the way the Wings structure long term deals Hossa isn't even taking that much of a paycut. After he plays out the years in which he gets fair value the Wings, at least as of today, can just buy him out of those years in which he's supposed to get 1million. At the same time, I suspect that Hossa is home in Slovakia trying to get away from hockey. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not even thinking about the negotiation process right now and would rather not think too much about it and instead allow his agent to work out the best deal for him while he knows deep down he'll eventually take whatever is available. Not saying that is what is happening for sure, just saying I wouldn't be surprised. -
Hmm. Maybe there's a merger going on.

Just had it the other day with classic garlic herb crust. Man it was gooooooood.
-
Oh man. I can see it now. Every time Jimmy Howard racks up an assist on a goal, a coupon for a free small pepperoni pizza. I don't remember on whether or not he likes to play the puck like Marty Turco. Or if he scores a goal... heh, then Hungry Howie's shall go bankrupt but there will be not be one single person in the state of Michigan with an empty stomach for at least a day.
-
Hmm... You got Jimmyed!!! Or... OH WHAT SAVE BY HUNGRY HOWIE!!!!
-
I'm not even sure why money is such an issue for Hossa. Kenny said they are prepared to give a long-term deal. Sure he'll have a cap hit of 4 million but he'll probably get Zetterberg type money next year, the year after, the year after that, the year after that and so on. If he doesn't want to play during those 1 million years then the Wings can just buy him out right? So what's the problem?

Kind of disappointing though isn't it? 03/18/2006 Tomas Kopecky, C, 38th overall, 2000 A breakout year moves Kopecky from 12th to seventh on the Top 20 list. He has finally arrived as a scoring threat and has been instrumental in Griffins success in 2005-06. The Red Wings called him up when the gold medal-winning Swedes missed a game after the Olympics. Kopecky was a +1 with one shot on goal. His development has been slow, scoring only 66 points total in three previous seasons in Grand Rapids. The 2005-06 season is a contract year for Kopecky and breakout season is necessary to persuade the Red Wings to re-sign him. Posting 54 points in 66 games and a notable +16, the second round pick in 2000 has earned a second contract. His 23 goals are good enough for fourth best on the team. Kopecky centers a tough but productive line with Filppula and Darryl Bootland. Often matched up against opponents' top forwards, he has shown he can find the net and sustain a physical role. At 6’3 and 205 pounds, Kopecky has the size to play an aggressive game, but needs to gain strength to challenge larger NHL skaters. Kopecky’s has a potential role as an agitator with an offensive upside. He has great hands, boasts a powerful shot and uses his size well. He will get a good look from the Wings during training camp next year, but needs to work on speed, defensive awareness and strength. He will likely spend most of the 2006-07 season in Grand Rapids. For the Griffins, he will be given the chance to continue his offensive progress and log plenty of ice time.
