A part of me wants to say Joe Thornton because players like that are just a big tease who don't perform in the playoffs. But he's still got time to prove everybody wrong. But you're right, being a part of the Red Wings is also being a part of a certain culture. Everybody fits well with each other because everybody has a moderate ego. They want humble, honest and hard-working people and have no room for big dumb kids who just coast off their size and skill.

Any chance the Wings can get Klingberg and Rajala in the second round tomorrow? I like the reports on this Klingberg guy. Seems like he'd go good with Joakim Andersson on the future 3rd/4th line. It's not really about what he is worth on the open market but rather what he is worth to the Wings. It's nice that he can scores goals during the regular season with an extensive history of that goal scoring in the East. It's nice he can fire shots from the perimeter and somehow stay healthy. But is he worth more to the Wings than Franzen? Doubt it. And this isn't a reply to your post necessarily, it was just a nice segway.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen Z struggle too badly against a skill-determination all-star. It's the guys who have the size-skill-determination like Getzlaf that he doesn't seem to handle all too well. Now, in the regular season Z did an awesome job against Joe Thornton but he's a size-skill guy with a ? over his determination.
