Well, right now, it's not so much that Pav has lost his chances for a Selke but rather that Ryan Kesler has simply played better and deserves it more. Again though, that's for right now.

Well I don't think anyone's feeling that way. If we're "throwing away" anything then it's Pav's chances for another Selke or perhaps even a Hart nomination.

Has he ever tried to play a finesse goal scorer's game?

I felt like people were going to talk about him anyways with Pav out. I figured why not bump this thread since he hasn't played as well.

Oh yeah. I'm bumping this one. To me these next four plus weeks without Datsyuk will be undoubtedly crucial as to whether Filppula can at least show significant signs of fulfilling his potential. The main thing I'll be looking for is first and foremost how dominant he is on the puck. Also, I'm confident he'll be a solid defensive player as usual but the circumstances show that he must maintain his defensive play and that the second thing I think we should all expect from him is points, points, points and more points. Do your thing, Fil.

I think they're trying to call up Valtteri Filppula to help with Datsyuk's absence. Not sure if they've been able to connect yet.
