I must emphasize the bolded part. It happened. It sucks. Whine about it tonight. Drink your shots. Let it go. Move on and show up for work tomorrow. Otherwise, you're letting one stupid incident affect your game in the here and now. And let's face it, none of us wants to be that kind of person who constantly blames the present on their past.

Way to represent! Good looking out.

Brad Stuart was a +4. Discuss.

It was a very emotional game on my part. I was fist pumping like no other and I haven't done that in a while for a Wings game. They faced their adversity and they overcame it... for now. Hopefully from here on out they can just play their game and execute to perfection.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Those guys are pros, but they're also proud. If the coach yanked them off their normal rotation spot just because of a couple bad games, then that wouldn't bode well on a team of proud, proud veterans. They deserve their chances before they really show that they're just not being effective. Now, Chelios is a special case. He's just way, way too old. I don't mean to disagree with you, I mean to add to your ideas.

Hossa should've passed on that 2-on-1. I was genuinely upset about that. I want my free arby's. Now that the negative is out of the way, I must say that Hoss was great. He did all the little things right and he really battled.

Here's the thing. Babcock is not stupid. If he weren't the coach and he was just one of us on LGW, he would probably clamor for the same line changes that we have been for a while. So what took so long? It's as if as a professional coach you can't just follow on every single one of your knee jerk reactions. You have "collect evidence" as they say until the time is right.
-
I don't mean this as an offense to you or anyone but I'm not sorry for having my concerns about Hossa. Babs had those same concerns, expressed them to the players, and then the players responded. Why would you apologize for something that potentially helped them to do better?

It's actually bad enough that they have to release a statement to defend themselves. Any law students in here? How do you guys put up with that bureaucratic BS on a daily basis?

It's not that the Wings don't bring any intensity from the beginning. It's just that they don't bring more intensity than Anaheim because the Ducks are full on sprinting right from the beginning, which is why they wear down a little as the game goes on. They know that Detroit is easier to play against when they're down and have to come from behind. So they figure that they can just blitz for the 1st period or so and then they'll get by with a win. Detroit has to find a way take the first punch and yet maintain their endurance throughout the game.

I thought he almost made the team out of training camp a couple years ago? They said he plays better when he's around better players or something like that.
-
I've only been a few this year and I haven't seen it at the Joe but it's not bad.
-
All I want, pretty pretty please, is for them to start on time and a 45-or-more minute effort. I don't care who scores or who makes big hits. I just want them to lay it out all on the ice and take nothing home with them. Please.
-
God I hope that's a euphemism.

Hey. Last time you asked for an epic OT it ended up being a Wings loss. So stop it. Don't make me bust out the Babs pic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCbler-Ross_model Denial. Should we expect four more threads of anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance?
-
So Crosby doesn't like the fact that Ovie has a "big curve"...???
-
If you want to be a minimalist, then really all they need is a 40-minute effort right from the start of the game.
-
That's exactly what Pittsburgh accused Detroit of doing last year in the finals. Considering that, I'd say it's just a sign that Detroit is just plain getting outplayed and outworked.

13-40-11 93-51-81 26-43-37 96-82-18* *I honestly don't think it's realistic to demote Homer to the 4th line. But I considered the idea of 26-43-96 on the 3rd line and it's just stupid to have Huds & Homer, two average skaters, on the same 3rd line and have them go against ANA's third line of "pure energy guys."
-
I really don't understand Babs' obsession with familiarity. In other words, 96-13-81 as well as all the other lines have to be together during 5-on-5, the power play and the (13-81) penalty kill. For the most part except Sammy on the point and Huds on the left of Z on the PP, it doesn't matter what the situation is, you have the same units playing together over and over and over and over.... I mean, doesn't that make them too predictable? And from an internal perspective, doesn't that make it stale and boring? Wouldn't they benefit from a change up on a daily basis?

Hmm. This thread should probably merge with the "Reviewability of the calls?" thread. If so then I hope that thread merges into this one so that the video and official statement are up top.
