Anaheim Lucks... More like Anaheim Flukes.
-
The Hoss-Z combo sucked during the regular season while the Hoss-Pav was good during the regular season. Maybe the Hoss-Z combo is different during the playoffs.
-
More like at the very least this will spark some emotion in the team that will inspire them to start on time. As much as I love them and as much as I agree that it was a bulls*** no goal call, they shouldn't be surprised they lost when they start out flat as they did.
-
Well you know what they say, luck favors those who work the hardest.
-
Because when a coach makes a change that's when the opposing coach knows he's weak and can move in for the kill. I don't really agree with that either but I've heard that argument many times.
-
I wish. I got a final tomorrow and if I could time travel to see the result of this game maybe it help me decide how to manage watching/studying better.

Wha??? Again... Post 741. Stop copying me!!! You think yours sounds better because you use more capital letters? Oh alright fine. But I'm still better at answering my own questions. Babs would be proud of me.
-
But but but... we don't want them to look intimidated physically. And even if they do lose, at least they'll have their "pride" from playing physical. I agree. Just play your game. You are who you are and you can't pretend to be something you're not just for the sake of entertainment or idiots who get off on the sight of blood.

Clip includes big hit on Salami.

Kenny said that he will play sometime this series. After Game 1, the feeling was the sooner the better. After Game 2 and the stupid penalties by Cheli and Lebs, the feeling is more like, ok, Now! No? How about now? You know?

NHL.com gushes about Ducks' Ryan Getzlaf as Conn Smythe candidate
titanium2 posted a topic in General
http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/05/nh...ducks_ryan.html May 3, NHL.com: I know, I know ... we're only two games into the conference semifinals in the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs. But seriously, has anyone been better this postseason than Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf? Big. Strong. Powerful. Great skater. Getzlaf has it all. Detroit coach Mike Babcock even went as far as calling the soon-to-be 24-year-old (a week from today) "one of the best players in the world." Hard to argue with Babcock. Getzlaf had three more points in today's 4-3 triple-overtime win at Joe Louis Arena, giving the big centerman a League-leading 13 points this postseason. Of course, the Ducks have a long way to go in these playoffs if Getzlaf has any crack at the Conn Smythe. But he has to be considered the early favorite, right? On Sunday, Getzlaf gave us another reason why he'd be worthy of the award. He fell one second shy of playing 39 minutes. He had another goal and two assists. He didn't shy away from the physical game. Yes sir, Getzlaf is the whole package. And the trio of he, Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry form one of the most formidable lines in the NHL. It sure can't be fun to play against those three. "As time goes on, we're hoping that the more he plays gutsy, the more he's going to run out of gas," Babcock said. "I think he had 37 (minutes) tonight. We're going to just keep padding it on and keep going. That's what you do in a series - just try to wear the other team out." If only Getzlaf showed signs of slowing down. "In my mind, he's the best player in the league," Ducks forward Teemu Selanne said. "If there's a better all-around player, show him to me." -
QUESTION (Potentially stupid question) I know it's not the same as the NHL by any stretch of the imagination, but when I played just for fun I had a lot of friends who were ambidextrous with their stick handling. Is it just not possible to be that way at the NHL level? For Junior to practice right-handed in the off season? I mean, Sammy is actually left handed. He just shoots right handed.
-
Wasn't Jimmy Nill rumored to be up for a new GM position as well?
-
Pierre Mcguire? Minnesota? At least he'll have one friend there, the wind.
-
Uh... huh. This is my reaction to his "doubtful" status.
-
Oh man that first one on Miettenen is one of the most perfect hits I've ever seen. Junior timed it perfectly and the explosion was brilliant and the landing was spectacular. In my book that's right up there with Vladdy's hit in 97's game 3.
-
I'll bite on the Carter broken nose. Malone's broken nose occurred on a hit that was pretty clean, especially in comparison to the majority of Junior's hits. Maybe that was a result of Malone having his head too low and not having enough awareness of Kronwall, even though I hate that argument.
-
Really? I think their top-5 can handle those kind of minutes for now. If the Getlaf line can play half the game every night then our top-5 can certainly play a little more if needed.
-
We've all seen this video but it's always a good one for a refresher. I like what Vladdy says, "I just want to play... My game... Aggressive style." Well put.
-
I got you. Yeah that idea actually pretty decent. But he needs to be out there with either Stuart or Ericsson. Nick-Big E Junior-Stewie Big E/Stewie-Lebda/Meech
-
Some would argue that chipping the puck behind their D early and going after it is what wears the team down, which allows a team to play more of a puck possession style later on. The Red Wings can do both, but when they default on carrying it through the zone, that's when they get lazy and that's when they lose. It's like what Babcock said. If you're going to make mistakes, make them while being aggressive. The whole carrying it through the zone can lead to passivity.

Oh most definitely. I just hate that the player we have that most resembles a power forward flails about and has very little outward showings of toughness. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hoping that one day he'll have a violent temper and take undisciplined penalties and start fighting every major PF in the league. But is it too much to ask that he not present himself as such a, as Milbury put it, wuss? Milbury shouldn't receive any kind of validation for being right at any point in time because he has one of the worst minds in the game, but I have to grudgingly admit he was dead on about Franzen yesterday. -
Yes, dear. (Hands over plastic)

How is it a dirty hit if the potential for injury or a concussion is low? He just has to do a little extra just to get the same impact that of a normal Brad Stuart hit.
