I think it's a horrible idea to play Meech. His defensive positioning is the worst on the team. At least Cheli knows how to position himself well enough. Meech is a reserve forward who tries to be a reserve defenseman.

NHL.com gushes about Ducks' Ryan Getzlaf as Conn Smythe candidate
titanium2 replied to titanium2's topic in General
So he's only 23 while Franzen is 29. The 23 year old was telling the 29 year old to stop being a wuss and get up off the ice. Wow, how embarrassing. -
Hey!... For those who've been Wings fans for a while, 4 cups in 11 years has become like crack to us. We want everyone else to beat each other up but when it comes to the Wings they better win, dammit!... But yeah, seriously, everyone, relax...
-
Warrior, yes. Moreover, imo, he's one of the greatest pests in Red Wings history because he could back it up with his physicality. He doesn't hit and run away like Malts or Sammy or Franzen the wimp according to Milbury, the worst hockey professional ever.

Hey... That's almost exactly what I said. Post #14... You think it sounds better coming from you because you're pretty? Alright I know the answer to that. But you think you're better than me at answering your own questions? Alright, alright, fine...

Agreed. If they went up 2-0 that would've made things a little uneasy for me.

+3 or 4 or whatever by the time I finish this post for the most part But what about keeping Cleary in the top 6 and having Helm and Draper down the middle on different lines.

Your nickname has to be The Mule.

With the way that Getzlaf line plays so many minutes, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have set 1 and 2 lines against them. Maybe they just need to get a little more creative with their shifts. The Cleary-Zetterberg-Franzen line has been good against them and so you want to keep that group out together for some shifts. But what about giving Pav a shift every now and again in Cleary's spot; or Hossa a shift every now and again in Franzen's spot. You start out with CZF and then on the next shift have DZF and then on the next shift have CZH. The main idea is to get a more creative rotation out there to give the big ANA line different looks and hopefully keep them guessing.

Are they against the rules? Definitely. Are they dirty hits? I don't think so because other than that hit on Peverly he didn't get anyone in the head. For the most part, he aims for shoulder checks. Has he ever caused injuries or concussions with his hits? I can't recall. Anyone? With him it's like the letter of the law versus the spirit of the law. And like Babcock, do I like to answer my own questions? Hells yeah.

I somewhat agree, see my post above.

Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Franzen Cleary-Datsyuk-Hossa Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Franzen-Datsyuk-Hossa Alright, maybe not quite that insane. It can get messy, but Bowman used to do it and if a team can get it straight then it can work wonders. I definitely like the idea of Datsyuk and Zetterberg together, mostly because it'll help Datsyuk's game intensity wise and it will also help Zetterberg because he doesn't have to be the main puck handler and can focus more on shooting when Datsyuk is on the ice.

What I said before. It's a 7 game series. Let's feel the full effects of our anger and aggression tonight and get over it for the next game. Simple as that. -

This just seems like one of those games where... I don't know how to explain it... Well, I try to look at this as all good. Either they're going to win it, which is always, ALWAYS good. Or, with the way they played the 4rd and OT in which they sustained some real pressure and really put their hearts on the line, only to lose just because of one goal, it can be one of those defining adversity games. The kind of games in which they learn that the efforts they gave in 1st and 2nd just aren't good enough, which can be inspiring enough for them to really bring it the next game. That's also good... ...But not quite as good as the win itself. Everyone in this forum would take the win no matter what. It's just that after a game like today's, it's not hard to find a silver lining. -

Me neither. I'm not actually. I feel like such a wuss. I'm all like, "Okay, I'll study really hard for this 20 minute stretch and then check." Ugh. -

Those who wanted an OT game, any OT game, while watching hockey last night got their wish. A part of me is thinking be careful what you wish for. -

I'm not watching because I can't seem to find a decent feed but it seems like the Wings are rolling over mentally. -

Truth is, I'm guessing NBC/Bettman/Whoever's in charge of selling the game doesn't really like either team all that much. Detroit wins all the time and so they're "boring" and Anaheim, like it or not, is a pathetic hockey market. (Oh, if only hockey players can get orange-tanned fake breast implants and play with no clothes on.) But since they have to pick one to sell the game, they will choose the team who has a style that employs the ways in which "typical North American intensity," as Babcock puts it, manifests itself because that style very much appeals to the audience here in the West as opposed to the game in Europe that has more of an emphasis on style and pretty passing. Hence, by default, Anaheim should get more promotion and the Wings will only show up in commercials in which they lose. Do you have a Swedish internet feed? Mind if I ask for the link? -

Moreso pro north american. It's easier to pay the bills that way. -

Well, thing is, it's very possible that the Getlaf line can play as many minutes and get through THIS series just fine. -

Hey some people feed off negativity, just ignore it for yourself and move on and enjoy your greater likelihood of not having to live with a cancerous tumor that you have no idea exists until it's too late.
