    Francis Pare

http://www.griffinscentral.com/players/fpare.html Plus: Decent skater lacking breakaway speed... Superior on-ice vision... More known as playmaker despite goal totals... Works well in front on the powerplay... Minus: Doesn't have rinkwide speed... Undersized... Big numbers in the QMJHL don't necessarily translate to the AHL... Organizational Comments: What GRC says: Summer 2008: Pare put up some big numbers in the QMJHL, garnering league MVP and a first all star team birth. It remains to be seen whether his game will translate to the pro level where he has less time and space to make plays. If he can make the adjustment he should bring some skill to the team. Role: Playmaking Center Sounds like he can be another Hudler if it all works out. Right now he actually sounds similar to Cory Emmerton, except smaller.

    NHL Mock Draft 2009

They drafted him in 2005, which was the year he graduated high school. Any scouting reports they had on him came from his play for the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders of the USHL. It's tough because whoever they draft this year won't likely don a Wings jersey for another 5-7 years if they're lucky enough. But have it Jimmy Nill and Hakan!

    Best Player Interaction

I think it was a year or two after he gave up football but I met Barry Sanders. At a friggin' Kroger too. I was kind of surprised but a friend of mine told me that at that time he would use Rochester High's track during the summer.

    Best Player Interaction

Mine isn't all that great in comparison to the ones above. I mean, Killer got to drink with them. No fair. I am j-e-a-lousss. But I met Pavel Datsyuk twice. Once at a soccer game and another at my brother's company. I got his autograph both times and in both instances he signed and joked afterwards, "Good? 30 bucks." Well, it was 30 the first time. The second time it was 50 because I asked him to write "Happy Birthday" for my Dad. He had some trouble writing it and actually, looking back on that experience, I wish I would've just asked him to write it in Russian. It would've been more genuine. I'd really like to meet Zetterberg. From what I've heard, he can be very, very unassuming in public; even to the point in which some misjudge him as stuck up and not particularly friendly.

4/5 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 3

Seriously, how is it any different from an interaction with a close friend? You criticize them because you want them to do better. And they're more likely to respond if you show them a little tough love instead of patronizing them with "Oh it's okay, don't worry about it, you're great."

I checked the Wild boards and if the ref didn't get in the way of the puck then there's no way Zetterberg gets to it for that quick pass.

I don't mean to be a smartass it's just that sometimes after each game a user named TPKDesigns will leave a comment in the article that paints a very detailed description of the game. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...goal_lifts.html

Shoot. I missed it. What was Backstrom complaining about on Hudler's goal? http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hl...amp;event=DET91

I don't know. There's only one puck and you have too many guys who should be shooting on one line.

Patrick Roy seeking a head coaching position in the nhl

A goalie coach? I doubt it. With his personality, he'd probably give up within the first week and just want to do it himself. But this would be something that could spark the rivalry again. Maybe in a few years get Mac and Cheli behind the bench and you got a story that will make the media salivate.

It's a tough call, imo. Defensively, without question he belongs. Offensively, he's just another one those guys who flirts between being a 2nd/3rd liner. If you're going to pair Zetterberg-Franzen, it might be a good idea for Babs to split those shifts between Cleary and Hudler (or maybe even someone else) depending on the situation.

I wouldn't mind it one bit if they dropped Meech and Lebda, maybe even Lilja included to have a third pairing of Big E and Cheli and use whatever's left to call up Kindl or Kolosov or whoever in case of injury, or maybe even double shift Ericsson.

I don't think any of us did, the Wings included, but after going pointless for three in a row like that, the next win is never going to be pretty, even if you're the Red Wings. Like you I'm just thankful they stuck with it even after all those failed PPs and missed breakaways and found a way to win.

Well, today felt like one of those wins in which the Wings got some metaphorical monkey off their backs and now they can just play and not have to worry about 50 wins or ending a losing streak or whatever.

Anyone else notice that NBC is promoting Zetterberg in the same manner as Crosby and Ovechkin? I can see the Wild threads now, "Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg BIG DRIVE!!! Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg Zetterberg."

4/5 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 3

A drive that got waffleboarded, knifed on by Crosby to Malkin, who finessed it back to the stick of Crosby who reflexes it through and FIDDLES it by the defenseman and... SCORES!!!... wait, no, what do we have?

    Franzen at what cost?

Haha. With a shrine that includes a cardboard cutout and the Mobil gas pump in which he handled the day he made that phone call to Hossa?

Fiance of Canucks Taylor Pyatt Dies in Car Crash

Damn. Can't even imagine. Are the Vancouver jerseys going to have her initials in black on their jerseys/helmets or anything?

Ron Wilson to coach U.S. Olympic team

I don't even know if I'm comfortable saying that the US will get 4th and that was before they chose the hamblachaeapee as coach. I'm sure that in many ways that roster is underrated but on the surface it appears to look like a joke in comparison to Russia and Canada.

    Mule close to signing

I'm not going to start a new thread since this is somewhat related. Isn't there a consideration for a change to the CBA for a team to re-sign a player they've drafted and developed and have only a percentage of their average annual salary count against the cap? If only this were in today.

    Brad McCrimmon should be fired

Well, I understand that he's the coach of the defense, but what does he really do? Hand signals with the defense? Run drills and that's it? Because Babs' response to the media says that he should be accountable as well, along with Nick, Drapes, Pav and Z.

4/2 GDT: Blues 5 at Red Wings 4

On that same token, a serious challenge helps the Wings play hard. Going up against Mason, arguably the most successful goaltender against the Wings this season, would probably help in that department.

It's a rotation, I think. Chelios one game, Meech the next, yada yada. Yeah that line doesn't look all that great. But change Helm with Maltby and that will probably be the line in the playoffs.
