Oh come on. It's no fun for them if you don't play along. Then they'll just have to go out and blow Bambi's head off in order to feel like a man.

Shouldn't Gonchar be getting more credit for Pittsburgh's resu
titanium2 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Yes he should. Gonchar is like their Lidstrom. At the same time, they don't have many quality veteran offensive defensemen. Whitney was just a joke. Letang is still somewhat raw on both ends. They have that Goligoski kid but he still bounced from WB to Pitt. Pens playing below their abilities to get rid of Therrien wouldn't surprise me one bit though. -
Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

Picture of Conks. Did someone really make a sign that says "Frolov picks his nose"? http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section...mp;Profile=1053 -
any chance it will be up on YouTube?
-
Sounds like a solid prospect. I just wish they would find a defenseman with a right-handed shot.

Meh... Before the rule came along I always thought it was kind of cheap when teams would just repeatedly chuck it out when defending a lead late in the game.

How come whenever I go to Red Wings TV and try to look at Game Highlights that they're no longer up? Is this a result of cutting costs or something?
-
I really don't think it has anything to do with the browser. I checked and I have all the updates. Maybe I should explain in more detail. I can go to the Red Wings TV website and watch whatever is on "What's New." I can see Zetterberg's press from last night, "It was disappointing, bla bla bla." But when I click "Game Highlights," the fifth option on the left hand menu of the Red Wings TV website, all it says is "There were no games scheduled for this date." I've tried some of the other teams NHL TV website and I get the same results. For some other teams, it actually says something along the lines of "Can't access the server at this time." Just out of curiosity, what happens when you click this link ( http://www.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg=2008...27&fr=false ), anyone? Because it should take you to the highlights of yesterday's game against NAS but for me it doesn't.

Someone on the Pens forum is having the same problem. http://www.letsgopens.com/scripts/phpBB3/v...f=1&t=34279

Just to be sure, we're talking about game highlights right? I can watch the "What's new" with Nick and Babs' press meeting from Friday night with no problem but I can't watch any game highlights like goals, hits, saves, etc. What happens when you click this link? http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg...39&fr=false

I did, and, nothing. I wonder if they're only allowing those with GameCenter or whatever to see them now.

Shorts ads of Pavel. He impresses without saying a word.

At his best, Filppula sometimes plays like a cross between Zetterberg and Datsyuk. When he chases the puck like crazy with that awesome skating ability he looks like Zetterberg and then when he is confident he is able to make those one on one moves like he did tonight and look a little like Pavel (or sometimes on occasion Z). At his worst, which is mostly when he doesn't skate well, he doesn't look all that different from a Kopy who's still trying to get himself into game shape.

did someone say SHUTOUT

Crosby had a Reebok ad too from the same user. It's not bad. Pav's first one was better and it's laughable compared to Pav's second one.

I can see why Babs likes the Hudler-Samuelsson pairing: http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg...71&fr=false http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg...78&fr=false http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg...23&fr=false http://redwings.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg...00&fr=false

Hat Trick Dick Axellson at the prospeect tournement
titanium2 replied to Sitkajo's topic in Prospects
Well that's a shame because I was hoping that eventually he would be the missing link to a new Red Wings Swedish Five. Kronwall-Ericsson Axelsson-Zetterberg-Franzen Part of the reason as to why Datsyuk works so well with Zetterberg is because Pav has great passing, scoring and skating ability to go with great hockey sense. Zetterberg likes to pass the puck but he also needs someone with great passing ability who can pass it back to him in scoring position. Sometimes they have Hudler with Zetterberg, but only on the Power Play because Hudler is a mediocre skater at best. When it comes to passing ability, Franzen isn't that good. Samuelsson... well, come on. Holmstrom plays very well on Z's wing, it's just that he's injured a lot and when he's not, it seems as if Babs wants to pair him with Pav no matter what. Based on the scouting reports I've read on Dick Axelsson, it seems like he has the talent and skill to not so much be like Pav on Z's wing, but a hell of a lot more serviceable than Samuelsson, Hudler, Filppula, Cleary, etc. As of today, I've read that he wants to spend one more year in the SEL and then move on to Grand Rapids. Many question Dick's work ethic and attitude and whatever. It's as if the Wings have players who didn't face those questions ever. I know for sure that at some point in their early careers that Datsyuk, Hudler and Cleary faced those criticisms. -
I still don't understand how the Wings not going after Claude at McNichols arena proves that they're heartless. I forgot that was Vernie's 300th win.

"I don't think there is a team that likes Detroit." He probably meant to say there is no team that likes to play Detroit.

Contract talks between Wings and Hossa, Franzen on hold
titanium2 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
At best, the cap will go up to around 58 mil and then go down the year after. They could plan as if the cap were to go up to 58 and then rely on Nick's contract coming off the books to mitigate the cap going down for the next year. But that's a real tight rope walk. -
Contract talks between Wings and Hossa, Franzen on hold
titanium2 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
A couple weeks ago I had a late night where I just couldn't sleep for the life of me. I pretty much looked at all the goals scored by Hossa and Franzen. Hossa leans more around the perimeter while Franzen operates much closer to the crease on many of his goals whether it's a PP or even strength. It will be very interesting to see how those two differ in stats during the playoffs, which is when guys like Franzen who gravitate more towards the crease may become more effective. -

Haha... "My first assist this year that's not a rebound," Franzen joked. "He called for it. I was going to take the shot, but I was trying to shoot all night and it didn't really work for me. I heard Hossa coming, he was yelling for the puck. I faked a shot and went back to him in the middle. The goalie wasn't really ready for it." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20..._red_wings.html -
The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
titanium2 replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
Now you really lost me. When did that happen? Datsyuk with Cleary AND Homer? Cleary and Homer are rarely together on the same line for a reason, which is because they are primarily best used as a net front presence. Homer's a better passer while Cleary is a better shooter but neither are the primary option for either on any line. -

Where are you getting that info? http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=2008020147 http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=2008020672 Because I don't see that. Unless Z's linemates were Lebda and McCarty back in October or Hudler and Stuart in January.
