I like the idea of Zetterberg and Franzen together on the PP. Maybe resurrect the 08-09 2nd PP unit of Hudler-Zetterberg-Franzen. Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Lidstrom-Rafalski Hudler-Zetterberg-Franzen Kronwall-? It's just that logically speaking it only makes sense to put your best goal scoring winger (Franzen) with your best playmaker (Datsyuk) and your best net front presence (Holmstrom). Yet at the same time, other than last night's game against LA, they haven't really sustained any significant pressure. So something has to change.

They don't really seem to do anything more than run defensive drills at practice and recommend which pairings should go out there in certain situations. At least, for the Wings they don't. If Nick wants to, I'm sure he can use that machine like brain to be a head coach.

So the bottom six yesterday was something like this: Hudler-Helm-Cleary Miller-Abdelkader-Eaves And despite the loss, they obviously did a lot of good things. Did anyone notice anything in particular about a difference in play between when Helm is the third line center versus Abdelkader? (And please keep references to Helm's finishing ability to a minimum if possible). It appeared as if something clicked there. Maybe, maybe not.

No I had no idea what that song was or who it was by. But they kept playing it after the Wings scored. I thought it was Katy Perry or at least some form of female singer. I was dead wrong, haha. Jeez... Makes me wish the Wings would stick to playing Gwen Stefani.

So after a November in which they went 10-2-1 I think, the Wings are off to a 3-3-1 December. Yikes. Is it the snow you think? The rest of the month is filled with solid opponents. It should be quite the challenge. Hopefully they respond.

Financially the NHL is apparently in pretty good shape. We think their marketing sucks but apparently a part of what they're doing is effective.
