I watched the Nashville game a couple days ago; the one where Datsyuk had his highlight take away and goal. What are some other good games from this past season where the Wings played thoroughly well? Close to sixty minutes, or whatever.

His physical game, which wasn't all the great to begin with when he first came over, has even toned down since then. At the same time though he managed to be a -4 last year, which is really good for him. So... I guess he's going with that route in terms of playing better.

Hopefully. His upside doesn't seem as nearly as high as it once was.

Jimmy Nill doesn't sound all that excited about him.

Anyone notice on Rafalski's PPG how Datsyuk entered the zone? I wonder why we don't see that all that often anymore from the Wings. Maybe he was just trying to dump it in but to me it seemed like a really smart way to gain the zone if you had to dump it in: Hit it high off the glass so that the goalie can't play it and angle it perfectly enough so that it goes right to the support. Sounds simple but it looked and sounded like he got the puck to bounce exactly the way he wanted. Immediately after the finals some news source had an article that was really great about the whole thing. The main point was, "Gary, just stop it, we know what's going on here." I bookmarked it but then I forgot about it after a reformat. Oh and I forgot, one of my favorite quotes from that game: "The Penguins with still... 1 shot on goal... in now 16 minutes of play. What a tribute to Detroit."

It seems like if he stays healthy he should be a decent enough fourth line plug. Seems like a big if though. Are they gonna go after Cheechoo next?

I really hope the Val Filppula line does well. Amongst all four it seems like that's the one with the most question marks. His brother said it best, "More courage". To me that means Filppula shows that he wants to own the puck and be the firm decision maker for that line. It's great to watch him so confident without the puck. Now I'd really like to see him a lot more confident WITH the puck.

Someone on HF had a good idea to give the Wings a 1B Puckmore and that it would be all guys behind the bench. Ilitch Bowman Holland and one of Devellano, Nill, James Norris, maybe Hakan Andersson, etc. Even when it comes to management we have a lot to pick from.

And they're an original six team too so there's no, "B-b-but the Wings have been around longer!" Also, I mean, two owners? And Toews? Toews is definitely one of my favorite players in today's game but I really don't think he's worthy of puckmore status just yet.
