Mount Puckmore: The four faces of the Detroit Red Wings
titanium2 replied to jeff48109's topic in General
What would be the opposite of that? Faces that were around for way too long. Willy, Bart Lebduh...? -
What forward position has he played for most of his life? Center? Wing?
-
So that's..... good?

I feel like I already know the answer to this question but considering a good portion of Stars fans didn't particularly like Modano on the point, is he an upgrade over Sammy? Also, I think many here believe that we should not assume that Fil will automatically reserve a spot on the PP for himself. Which is fair. I say he should start the season on the PP and then be kept on a relatively short leash.

Filppula - Finland Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Co. - Sweden Datsyuk - Russia Salei or Kolosov - Belarus Hudler, Kindl - Czech Republic Tatar - Slovakia Mursak - Slovenia They need to unearth some gems from Germany, Switzerland, Norway and Latvia in order to get the whole Olympic tournament.

Crosby doesn't suck but he's a whiney little bitch, however.

Believe it or not I was waiting for you this chime in with that comment. -
"Get me into the NHL or I'm gonna give you a serious pounding lil' bro..."

I'd hope so. We'll see if that were to ever happen. -

(Sigh... Yeesh. Okay, I'll never use an Yzerman clip ever again. Way too salient.) He didn't do anything wrong. At least not in the world of hockey. But what if what's his name sought retribution for a dirty hit? How would we judge him on LGW? And is that fair? That's all I'm asking. -

He isn't. At least, in our eyes he isn't. But if Skid did the same thing I think we would have reacted differently. It's kind of a double standard. It's like he'll always be a whiney little ****** in our eyes no matter what but if someone elsedid the same thing we'd judge it differently. Not at all. I'm just asking what if that were what's his face? We'd probably judge him differently around here because he's so stigmatized. -

I'm not comparing anything actually. I should've clarified. I'm just wondering if we saw Skid Mark do the same thing how this board would have reacted. If we saw him sneak behind a player that gave him a cheapshot and aim for his head how objective would we have been? Would we have dismissed him as a whiny punk or would we say his action were right? -

It's tough to say. Stevie definitely had his moments. It's just that there was no YouTube and they didn't really look as bad. Scraps, fights, cheapshots at the end of games seemed to be more accepted in Stevie's time as a youth. Since it's Stevie, we support him if he got cheapshotted. Thing is though, if what's his face did the same thing that Stevie did in this clip ( ), How do you think this forum would have reacted? I'm not comparing anything actually. I should've clarified. Nah Enforcers Toughness in general Stay at home defensemen versus puck moving for the 3rd pairing Filppula versus Hudler I think we enjoy those games more often. Especially toughness, which is a topic that thoroughly permeates virtually every single post of some of the members on here. -
They believe that he should devote some of that energy to scoring and whatnot. But people need to realize that Z takes A LOT of pride and enjoyment out of killing penalties. He wants to be in that rotation and it helps him get into the game. He loves being a player who plays great in all situations. He definitely should be in that rotation.

Really? I hate watching him like that because he really is a good player and people would like him more if there were no clips like that. EDIT: Oh, and IN b4 da DELETE! -
"Put 'em up! Put 'em up!"

The PP rotations are pretty clear. The PK rotations, however, are not in terms of the forwards because the Wings have so many players that take pride in the PK. It's a significant part of their game and PK TOI makes them feel good about themselves; they feel more involved in the game; and thus play more aggressively. I know Babs said that Abby will get every opportunity he can to show he can be on the PK but until we see how he plays there at the NHL level I think I'd personally go with a rotation of: Helm-Eaves Zetterberg-Cleary Datsyuk-Filppula Helm-Eaves And on the back end I'd like to see Lidstrom-Salei on the first unit to keep the familiarity between Kronwall-Stuart
-
I'm almost positive Babs didn't do that this past year. I saw that he always had the first unit come back out after the second unit's shift. You'd have Helm-Eaves, then Miller-Cleary and then Helm-Eaves went back out again after them, which they were then followed by Zetterberg-Filppula. But iirc, Babs did use a lot of forwards in the 08-09 season. It's when they had something like Draper-Cleary, Filppula-Maltby?, Zetterberg-Franzen, Datsyuk-Hossa.
-
It's not really about a lack of love for him. It's just that the Wings have only so many roster spots.
-
Question: If we assume that the lines will be: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi Hudler-Modano-Cleary Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves Who are the fair candidates for the two reserve forwards spots? Of course we got Draper, Miller, Ritola. I actually think Maltby and Downey are fair candidates. Anybody else?

That's like almost every twitter post I've ever seen.

Honestly sometimes I don't know why I bother posting links to Malik's blog because I feel like most if not all of us read it anyways. I guess I'll just post this for archival purposes in case mlive goes down or anything like that. This is a good link though. I definitely agree about Filppula though. Just a little bit of everything will go a looooonooonng way for him. I really want to see him play as well as I believe he can.

You like to read good?

I'm curious about the psychological aspects of rebound control. As a goaltender, don't you kind of have to develop somewhat of an immunity to small objects flying at you for an average of, what, 80 mph? Is it that when something bounces off you and you see it lying nearly dead on the ground it makes you feel better in comparison to when you simply "swallow" the puck? Kind of like in Happy Gilmore when he goes to the batting cages to let baseballs hit him?
