    Ben Marshall

http://www.redwingscentral.com/prospects/marshall.php Position: Defense Shoots: Left Vitals: 5'9'' / 160 lbs. Birthdate: August 30, 1992 Hometown: St. Paul, Minnesota Acquired: Detroit's seventh choice (201st overall) in the 2010 draft SCOUT COMMENTS "He's real dynamic, an excellent skater, a good stickhandler and a good shooter. He's one of those guys who just takes the puck and goes ... It's his skating, his competitiveness and the way he makes plays. He competes, he wants to score goals, he wants to win games and he has that energy about him on the ice." — Red Wings scout David Kolb (June 2010) ... "When he's got the puck he's like Phil Housley. He sees the ice, runs the power play. One-on-one he blows past people. It'll be interesting to see how he handles the next level." — Central Souting scout Jack Barzee (June 2010). STRENGTHS Outstanding wheels ... Dynamic offensively ... Loves to rush the puck but makes a good first pass, too ... Great puck skills ... Hard shot ... Offense-first mentality ... Knows how to quarterback a power play ... Great vision and playmaking ability ... Competitive and energetic ... Impressive offensive skills could make him an interesting forward project if defense doesn't work out. WEAKNESSES Extremely small for a defenseman, even in today's game ... Could pretty much skate around an entire team at the high school level, but will need to get smarter and refine his game in the USHL and beyond ... Hasn't had to worry about much on the defensive end yet but those days are over. PROJECTION The Red Wings drafted Marshall in the hopes he has a little bit of Adam Almqvist's magic. He has pretty had his way at Minnesota's high school level and his first big test comes in 2010-11 when he tries his luck in the USHL with Omaha. Marshall is a big gamble, but if he gets a lot stronger and continues to develop, he could be a dynamic power-play quarterback in the future.

    Zetterberg & Emma's Wedding

He'd probably give the funniest speech ever. "He said, 'How can I get girls the way you?' I said, 'You need more dangle dangle'".

Osgood may retire following this season

Oh wow this is like those NHL commercials from the playoffs.

    Zetterberg & Emma's Wedding

Haha. I would hope that was the case for every married couple but I've met some who don't feel any difference. Oh we've talked about this before on these boards. Datsyuk has a daughter. Lidstrom has four boys. Stevie has three girls. Somehow theirs and Z's children will mingle to create the new wave of Red Wings.

    Sergei Federov

The details of his departure are still hazy for me. Towards the end of the saga he had a meeting with Mr. Ilitch. He said after he met with Mr. Ilitch that he was very excited about a return to the Wings. Then... He left. Who knows what the hell he wanted? To be the highest paid player on the team? Did he get that when he went to Anaheim?

    Zetterberg & Emma's Wedding

Probably but I don't know how exciting that will be for them. There's no way those two haven't already.

Me too. This will be a very interesting season for those who watch him closely. The Wings really need him to do well.

Red Wings Making Play for Modano

As far as questioning their judgment it really depends. They're not going to get everything right. I mean, Jason Williams a second time?

    Zetterberg & Emma's Wedding

You trying to say that you think he's *** or something? No but whenever I look at that area I notice Zetterberg's dad not quite ready for the pic, haha.

But a lot of fun if the ethnicities mix like Mats Zuccarello-Aasen.

Who is the best man and groomsmen? Or is that not how they do it in SWE?

Red Wings Making Play for Modano

The whole "I've been wrong before" quote made me think, "When has he been wrong about situations like this?" Then I remembered how he thought it was a no-brainer for Fabian Brunnstrom because he'd be coming to "Little Sweden" as he put it. Ah well.

    Zetterberg & Emma's Wedding

He might be beneath the bushes with a shotgun thinking that he's found a mess of zebras. "Wait... Am I in Africa?" "Babs, this is a wedding, put the goddamn shotgun away." "Sorry... It's just a reflex you know..." "...You... Just carry a shotgun with you at all times?" "...Yeah." "Where do you keep it?" "That information is secret, bub." BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Where's Happy Hudler?!?!!

    Henrik Zetterberg

You'd think (or at least hope) that he'd extend invitations to everybody and that they'd find a way to make time for the ceremony at least. But oh well. EDIT: I'm sure Mr. Ilitch has a private plane reserved for these kind of events.

    Henrik Zetterberg

Hmm. No Babs? Kenny? Stevie? They probably couldn't make it or something. That sucks. Assuming Z invited them.

    Logan Pyatt

I really liked what I saw from Pyett this past year. Played in all situations and did well. I know people like to throw around Rafalski's name when it comes to Pyett but I don't know if I'm ready to project him like that yet.

    Cory Emmerton

Will he be another Evan McGrath?

    Sergei Kolosov/Siarhei Kolasau signed.

He's signed again for one more year. http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=534533

    Daniel Larsson

Why are some of the Swedish prospects going back home? Sure, a part of it is that they're just not that good. But why does the AHL get such a bad rap to some European players? Nothing to learn in terms of skill level?
