T.J. Oshie Re-Signs With St. Louis
JasonNewEra replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
I don't think that, I was referencing the fact that we aren't signing ANYBODY. It is just depressing. This team signed this guy, this team avoided arbitration with this guy. Wings?... Nothing. -

Man, why can't the Wings sign someone like that? It really is starting to look like the ride is over... -
Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)
JasonNewEra replied to a topic in General
That contract is outrageous. If the new CBA doesn't fix this soon, we'll be treading baseball contracts soon. Honestly who thinks paying for one guy like that will be good for them? They won't be able to afford anyone else to help him! I wouldn't have signed it, but maybe it's just the almighty dollar working its evil again. I remember when we fought for the cup, not a $...- 469 replies

This is why we need a new CBA. I don't understand how this is even allowed. Philly has this money? They won't be able to do anything in terms of the draft and they will be maxed out for 14 years... I just don't understand it. Also, why in the hell is Weber accepting such a low contract!? He's worth WAY more than 7.2 million a year! He could easily get 8 to 9 a year next year. Something just seems off to me. I don't get his thinking at all. P.S. Philadelphia sports teams are morons! Betting it all on a few players is moronic.- 469 replies

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
JasonNewEra replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Gonna be an interesting Season considering there is no Lidstrom. I can't wait to see the new team. -
I wasn't saying he should join us I was saying he is still got "it" and could even be a Red Wing if circumstances were right. I don't think he needs to be here either.

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response
JasonNewEra replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Would you all have preferred he not try at all? -
Well the only thing I would say to this is that it wasn't his bodies fault that someone ran over his wrist. That is a horrible statement. On the other hand I know he'd be a 4th liner, but really would that matter? Just saying...
-
Wow, there seems to be a Anti-Madono sentiment here. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if he came here on a small contract. Should he play with anybody? I don't know, if he feels hockey ready and shows someone that he can still work it, then by all means. The age thing people are referring to, really? REALLY? People who are fans of the Detroit Red Wings think he is too old? I'm shocked honestly, I mean who are we to decide what someone who is 42 can, and cannot do? If Holland can't get anybody through free agency, I would consider it.
-
Okay so I was thinking about it after this signing, what if Kenny just doesn't want to spend this crazy money? I wouldn't blame him, honestly, the amount of money these decent players are asking for is crazy. How much would Datsyuk ask for if his contract was up? 8 - 10 million? 10 years?
-
Seriously, why are we even waiting? He obviously wants to stay in Phoenix, and has little desire to play somewhere else. He's just waiting to find out what is going to happen to the team. So until that is situated we won't know jack shizer.
-
Throwing money all over the place! What is with these GM's that don't understand the way the cap works!?
-
7.5 Million a year???? Either this is a lie or someone needs to fire they're GM.

Here is my problem with a Nash trade. If we were to do this we wouldn't be able to get a top defenseman. I mean, literally, no chance in hell. It's gonna take a lot to get Nash from Columbus, and in doing so will remove all our assets for another trade. So the only recourse is free agency, and in doing that we wouldn't get a top defenseman. We'd end up with a serviceable one, but then nothing will come of it. I'd rather we trade for Shea Weber or Keith Yandle. Hell, I'd like those or even someone else as long as we get a defenseman. I think our offense is good as it is, I mean it could always be better. But trading for one of the above and then signing a free agent forward or two would be a better investment in my opinion.
-
So what would be our options if this happened? I mean, what are the chances we sign a top defenseman or a top 4 offenseman?
-
I don't know, isn't it gonna be hard to pick him up? I mean, he is the Captain of their team.
-
I heard he is mostly going to be a "liaison" for the players to the organization. At least that's what his main job will be.
-
This is disappointing to hear. Strangely I just found out that a co-worker of mine is friends with Joey. A little inside info, apparently the first team mate that called Joey was Howard. He was upset at the fact that they picked up Jonas Gustavsson especially cause the Wings organization isn't sure that Howard will resign with them when he goes up for free agency next year.
-
Why must we land such huge names? I don't understand this mentality. Is it cause of the big names we used to get in free agency when there was no cap? Is it because Lidstrom is gone now? Really, the only thing we actually need is a decent defenseman and we'll be fine. It's not like we lost EVERYTHING when Lidstrom retired. We will get someone, will it be a Suter type? Probably not, but that doesn't mean we won't make the playoffs or something worse. I think we all need to take a chill pill and just wait and see how things go. Perhaps he is waiting, maybe Holland wants to see if this team can do something without the big name. If they can't, maybe he pulls the trigger during the season in a trade. Pure speculation at this point. However, I think we need to calm down and remember that we have one of the premiere GM's and that he will do what is best for the team and the owner. More importantly, the fans.

I love that he is staying with us as a scout. Bring some talent that can replace him and others for years to come.
-
Okay, no. I'm not six, I was making fun cause you sounded like everything anybody told you was false cause you said so. Datsyuk in Russia? Yeah, maybe, in like 10 years. I guess I'm not seeing this 7th-9th place team your talking about. I see a team that needs One more really good defenseman and a decent goal scorer. They are competing against some good teams in the most solid division in Hockey. However, the Predators just got beatable, the Blues I believe were a flukey team that went on an AMAZING stretch. Chicago is a threat but not that great as they didn't really get any better. Do I even need to say anything about Columbus? What gives you the thought that we are a moderate to crappy team?
-
All I've heard is excuses to why what WE tell you won't work. So your in the opinion we should rebuild because you heard through "sources" that Datsyuk is leaving for the KHL eventually. Also that YOU think a bunch of our AHL guys are career AHLers and they won't sniff the NHL? Which quite a few of them have seen time in it and some are still too young to get the call up. So we should rebuild because your right and we're wrong? Nani-Nani-boo-boo? Stick your head in doo-doo?

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan

A lot of these guys you're talking about are in their prime. What makes you think they are over the hill to require a rebuild? Silly, and sounds like you felt that it was Suter and Parise or bust. That's far from the truth...

Could be good, but really we need Defense bad, I hope it's not the only things we're looking into.
