I love the optimism.
-
Exactly right. A rookie goaltender is going to make mistakes, it's par for the course. And he's been one of the pluses this season overall. When you're own team haven't scored in lord knows how many periods it makes it impossible to succeed.
-
Yeah it was sweet. I thought McGrath's was gonna win it, but yeah, Mr Tatar can fairly handle a puck.
-
Shootout. Tatar with the winner, McCollum stopped 5 out of 6 in shootout. Griffs win, yay!
-
3-3. Going to OT.
-
3-2 Griffs now. Williams and Pare.
-
I started watching the Wings after the 1st, but it sounds like the first 10 minutes of domination was an anomaly for Griffs. If UKredwings was here Tardif would surely score.
-
Pretty much. Quite a few 2 on 1s for the Griffins early on (well, 2 or 3 at least). Monsters looked total s***e early but responded as soon as they got their goal.
-
1-1 after one. Griffins came out strong, Monsters gradually got back into the game a bit.
-
Well I'm watching. (thanks for streaming) Nice goal by Mursak, assisted by Emmerton and Delmore. Griffs all over them early in this one. Now a PP... uh oh, Williams gets a penalty for a great defensive play I thought. 4-on-4.

Dumb logic. Vidic and Masch are 2 examples of wives being vocal on their surroundings. What about every wife of every player in every club, do you know whether they are happy or not? And every player who is playing poorly, how do you know it's not the wife that's the problem there?. Maybe a player plays well on the pitch because he's away from the constant nagging...! Blah blah blah, like I say, dumb logic.
-
So she's okay with the place then?! Sounds like rubbish. He earns 7m a year. I'm sure the wife can cope. If not, throw her in the gulag!

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=301486 Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Long-time Red Wing forward Darren McCarty, who has yet to play in the NHL this season, announced his retirement on Monday. The 37-year-old posted one goal and one assist in 16 combined games in a brief stint with the Wings from 2007-09. A second-round pick in the 1992 draft by Detroit, McCarty made his NHL debut in 1993 and spent the first 11 seasons of his career there before signing with Calgary in 2005 and lasting two seasons. In 758 games, he recorded 127 goals, 288 points and 1,477 penalty minutes. Over 174 playoff contests, McCarty racked up 23 goals and 49 points. His most notable moment occurred in the fourth and deciding game of the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals, when he skated around Flyers defenseman Janne Niinimaa and goaltender Ron Hextall en route to the eventual Cup-winning goal.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=508980 "I'm very proud to have played for as long as I did, with so many great teammates and to have been a part of all those strong teams, especially the four Stanley Cup-winning teams in Detroit," McCarty said in a statement released by the NHL Players' Association. "Playing with and against the best players in the world for the past 15 years has been an amazing experience. I'd like to thank my family, teammates, coaches, the Red Wings and Flames organizations, and the fans for helping me realize my dreams. "It was a great ride. I appreciate what the game has given me and I'm happy with what I was able to accomplish as a hockey player, but now I'm excited for the next chapter," McCarty said.

Yay, a WIN! Drapes having a good scoring year alongside two youngsters... managing to hit an empty netter is a plus When this team wins it's immensely satisfying... much more satisfying than last years team, just because we're lacking the big scorers, and it requires good hard work to get it done. Go Wings!

Who iced that? Rafalski?
-
Powerplay. Lovely stuff.
-
Keep 'em out now. Just 1.40 to go.
