2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET
Green Wing replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Totally lame. That home streak has people thinking this team is better than it is. No way this team is significantly better than last year. If Datsyuk misses playoff time we're completely f***ed. -
Sounded like Don Cherry was no.11 for the Wings.

Nyquist, what a goal. -
Unbelievably awful.

Wings sign former Penguin and Michigan native Chris Conner, according to The Production Line's twitter. If true, I assume it's for GR.
-
Good stuff. Man that backup goalie market was thin.
-
Pleased that Eaves looks to be staying. I think he could be better with more opportunity, too.

Tallon...

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
Green Wing replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Wow. Didn't see this coming. It must be that spaghetti knee of his, I'd guess. He was pretty disappointing recently, but I'm still shocked he's actually retiring and not trying to battle out another year. There will be a big signing or two now, with this news, I'm sure. -
Holland is apparently on Espn961 now at 3pm ET talking about the Wings offseason plans. I can't access it cos I'm not in the US though, boo, hiss. But if anyone wants a listen... http://www.espn961.com/main.html

Anyone else think that they'll move MacLean back to Defensive Coach and hire an Offensive guy?
-
Wahey! Pop the champagne corks, McCrummy's gone! I knew it was him!
-
Go Canucks, Go Lightning, Go Bruins, f*** the Sharks.
-
f*** that, Wings scored 3 in the 3rd last game. They only have to get 2 in the 3rd today.
-
Just 780? I'm 3500 and I'm drunk AND hoarse, lol!! Go wings, woooo!

Thanks, just wondering whether I'm imagining things. It's logical that some of these second round series' be extended (especially since Tampa went 4-0, and Boston are 3-0) Not that I'm complaining, but yeah. It'll be a different story in game 5, no doubt. and yeah, about time too.

I honestly don't mean to be a downer, but anyone else think that the refs were ... well kinda favorable towards the Wings tonight? Or maybe they're aware of previous bias toward the Sharks, and are suffering guilt, or more likely, told to extend the series to get more TV revenue?? As it happened, the PP didn't really decide it anyway... but just wondering what everybody else thought?

Yay. I love Eaves, he's awesome.

That f***in Niemi, gloves a Franzen topshelf effort.
-
Cleary and Helm on the tail end of that pk, good work.
-
One thing you can rely on Abby for. f***sake.
-
The overall team defense is sloppy, forwards back but watching the puck - their D-man stepping up unhindered for scoring opportunites. PK not up to it. The coaching just hasn't been there.

This year is the big question - if the Sharks get through and still f*** it up then forget about it. But I have a feeling that they might actually do something this year. And whether McLellan is better than Babcock or not, I think he was invaluable to the cup run 07/08. Also, I think McLellan's time here has meant he has Babcock's number. McCrimmon and his s***ty coaching record of rubbish defense (Calgary/Atlanta) can get f***ed for all I care.

The penalties he's taken have nothing to do with my reservations about him. I mean, he was great against Nashville a while ago, because of two things - a combination of good physical forechecking and offensive production, ie, 2 goals. It's easy to look great with 2 goals to your name. I wish Abs was used as a bonafide fourth-liner. I want him to attempt to emulate Dallas Drake '08. I know that might be difficult, but I think he could do it. I actually think Babcock has too great a manlove for him at this moment in time. He is really lacking in offensive skill, and I think Babs puts him in positions that are elevated to his ability. He's been playing him center half the time and presumably he's expected to put up some decent offense (Surely center on 2nd or 3rd lines with the Wings would mean as much?) But he's looked far better as a winger, IMO. IMO, he should be with Helm and Eaves on a line and told to hit, hit, hit, and deal with whatever transpires from that physical game. Be it scoring chances or rough stuff. In his defense, I don't think Helm has been much better than him the last two games (the penalties apart) and that's a big worry (considering our 'top' 2 lines) I wouldn't scratch Abdelkader. I'd play him 4th line, and expect him to hit like blazes. Miller's been even more invisible this series, so I'd probably give Modano a chance and hope for the best.
