Lebda's speed isn't much good if he can't make the right decisions... From what i've seen of Meech, he seems to pick his moments better and also manages to get back. Meech seems to have a more rounded game than Lebda. Of course, Lebda's played all season, Meech only twenty-odd games, so one could argue that you can't compare them accurately. But when both guys were getting big ice-time recently, Meech looked really good whereas Lebda looked a liability. I'd keep Meech over Lebda.

For McCarty, the most important thing is to try to get into NHL shape. I don't know what sort of training regime he's on, but surely it would be pretty intense... Playing games on top of that should improve conditioning, and perhaps the results of this hard work might not be fully noticeable yet. As for scoring, he's always been able to put the puck in the neck if he gets a chance. He's played 10 AHL games, 5 goals, 3 assists, 19 PIM. I don't think that's too bad, especially since lots of Griffins were with the Wings this last while. Maybe he won't be able to cut it - but I'm glad he's making a decent go of it. I doubt if Babcock will use him if it's obvious he can't contribute. For me, his comeback is a win/win situation.

The secondary scoring thing is my only issue too, I thought we'd get someone like Prospal. But I think it's a message to the guys we already have to start delivering. There's no excuses now, they've got to put the puck in the net and prove themselves. It's a great chance for them to have, rather than just being traded away. I hope they take that chance. Tonight would be a nice start

He must've got a promotion! I agree though, I'm not downhearted at all. The injured stars to come back will be like new additions anyway, and hopefully the likes of Hudler and Filppula will step it up again. Go wings!

There was a lot of positives to take from this. Usually a young D-man would come in with 5 established guys there to help out, so I think they did well overall, despite the odd mistake. In fact, they did fantastic considering Lilja was their mentor for the evening Drake was excellent tonight, led by example. Ozzie too. I hate Sammy, but he'd be okay in a reduced role. At the moment, he's everywhere. Hudler is nowhere. Whatever happens at the deadline, at least we can look forward (hopefully) to have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Chelios, Cleary, (...forgetting anyone?!) back in time for the important games. We'll be a new team! 4.40am, bed now i suppose

Besides, Jagr is a veteran. I think he's probably been Americanized enough not to need his fellow countrymen helping him fit in everywhere he goes. And no, I doubt very much he'll be traded.

I have to say I agree with most of the above. It's all about marketing, and selling the product more... My only question is, - why Anaheim? (after they've won it... why not some other 'backwater')... Do Anaheim need to win numerous cups for the sport to take there?

Well I agree. I have to say... compare tonights game with Toronto. There's no comparison, and the reason why we were so bad against Toronto was probably because of Anaheim, and the prospect of tonights game. We won the game tonight, Anaheim just got the points... And let's face it, those loser goons need all the help they can get. I just hope they've used up all their favours now, before the playoffs take place. I'd love to see a quality 2nd line scorer and a good defenseman before the playoffs. (+ A good DMac) . The Ducks really aren't that good, IMO.

I agree with this 100% - I think it's a great rule cos it puts the focus on the refs to get the call right with the aid of video.
