It must have been killing Mayer...he wanted to fight soo badly and Downey wouldn't bite. I love Downey for that reason. He is smart about when to fight, and can still manage to piss a guy off, simply by laughing, when the time isn't right. He definitely had a good game tonight, as did the rest of the team.

I read somewhere (maybe mlive?) that Ericsson was playing tonight and Meech is a healthy scratch. I am really bummed about that, I've been really impressed with Meech lately but I guess they just want to get Ericsson more playing experience. Anyways, I'm feeling a win-streak here. Wings 5 Blues 1

I am obviously a HUGE Michigan hockey fan, but I would love having Miller as a Wing.

Lidstrom practices (and other notes from practice)

I wish that warm weather would kick in about now. It is awful outside right now. -
I really like Lebda, but I've been really impressed with Meech lately. He's got a pretty good shot (at least better than Lebda) and good instincts.Unfortunately for Lebda, despite his speed, I say sit him.

Avery breaks off contract talks with Rangers

Not cool. Just my opinion, nothing more or less. I think 2.5 million is too much for him, you can respectfully disagree though, not problem with that. -
This just made my day

Exactly! No thank you...2.5 mil for an agitator--can you say wayy too much? -
Per ESPN Article I know this article comes from ESPN, a channel that could care less about the NHL, but what is everyone's opinion on this? Is Nick no longer the front-runner for the Norris? I personally think he is by a long shot, but does anybody agree with this ESPN writer that his injury could keep him from winning again?
-
The front-runner question was my question, not from the article. But, I totally agree with you with his prolonged absence hurting any chance he had at the Hart trophy, even though his absence alongside our losing streak only proves how badly this team needs him. But his offensive numbers are now taking a hit, and that unfortunately comes into play when deciding the Hart. Crosby, however, is taking a bigger hit, not just because of his numbers, but because Malkin has stepped up and led the team in Crosby's absence. Not that the Penguins would ever NOT need Crosby, he is arguably the best player in the league, but the Penguins have survived in his absence.

Exactly--and I wouldn't mind avoiding a hot goaltender. Actually, I don't know if the Wings make the goalies look good, or the goalies truly are that good--regardless I'd love to avoid that fate.

I am definitely with you on the injury prone thing, but I think Kronner is a really good defenseman as well. The problem is he gets hurt so much that we don't get to see the things he did tonight as often as we would like. Plus, I thought we had a pretty strong defensive game tonight--I didn't think that anybody looked particularly awful tonight. Heck, even Lilja did a good play with his save on the pk.

Creasemonkey--the baby in your avatar is soo beyond cute!

Awesome, I am gonna be at that game!

There also was that Lebda goal that the ref deflected in and was called off. I know that goal wasn't going in anyways, but another example of the refs messing up (by for some reason standing in front of the goal).
-
On a positive note, it was nice to actually hear the fans at the Joe tonight. Everyone was super into the game/ pissed at the refs and I enjoyed hearing a little energy from the crowd.
-
I love how the score on the GDT says 2-2...that's how i'll treat this game.
-
The exact same thing happened a couple of weeks ago at the Michigan versus Miami hockey game. Michigan is winning, I think it was 5-4, puck hits the mesh, refs don't catch it, Miami scores, game ends in a tie. Again, not reviewable. While it doesn't happen that often, something obviously needs to be done.
-
The last two losses have been heartbreaking. First Lilja, now the damn refs.
-
If we just scored that second goal for nothing, I will be even more bitter at these so called "refs." This game should be tied--and now we have only five minutes to make up for the refs' blindness. Lets Go Wings!!
-
I was at peace with another loss or whatever, but now we have the bulls*** refs working against us as well. I hate this.
-
We are 35 minutes into this game and I am loving him.

I didn't think I would get to say this ever this season, but I tried--and could not get a ticket for tonight's game. I am bummed. On the other hand, it is nice to see the Wings sell out again. Oh well, FSN it is. I'm glad to get Kronner/Stuart in the lineup tonight/ surprised (and happy) to see Quincey reassigned to the minors while Ericsson gets to stay up. Looking forward to a strong outing to build off of the third period of the last game (minus Lilja's penalties, of course). Wings 4 Sharks 2

Hahaha Soo true.

I was at that game!! I miss Cleary soo much right now. Glad to see he is getting better and, it appears, through the worst part of his injury. In relation to those clips, when I think "clutch" Dan Cleary, I think of this:
