WCQF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Blue Jackets 5

I felt that way in the first...I just sensed that this game was not going to be a 4-0, 4-1 game. -

Agreed...I am willing to give in order to receive. Hossa brings this team to a whole new level and other players are just expendable when he is at stake.
-
Hudler--the guy hardly plays and is near the team lead for goals scored Leino--we haven't seen nearly as much of him as I would have liked, but this guy definitely looks like a keeper! Rafalski--I always knew he was a good player, but for a while down the stretch when Nick wasn't play all that well, Raffy was our #1 d-man. Conklin--while I am still pulling for Ozzie to be our starting goalie, I can't say I wouldn't trust Conks in the net for the playoffs. I also give honorable mention to Lilja--the man is a beast on the pk and isn't nearly the turnover king he used to be.

Kopecky (I thought that last yr before he got hurt he looked like a pretty good player--now he just seems rather useless) Draper (He isn't known for the offense, but usually he makes up for that with his great defense. This really isn't the case this year). Flip (For as much money he is making, he needs to be more consistent in goal scoring--I mean when was the last time he scored a goal?)

Top 10 Link Scroll down under "featured" and check it out. It is the top 10 wings goals in the modern era. The Lidstrom goal is pretty sweet--I hadn't seen that one before. Of course, I agree with the #1 goal...I think that Turco's jock strap is still hanging in the rafters. PS. Did anyone check out ESPN sportscenter this morning--my heart nearly stopped when Barry Melrose not only said the Wings were the best team in the league but also he expected the Wings to win the cup--shocker on his part.

Agreed On top of all of this, it isn't exactly like Cleary has a history of dirty plays. He is a gritty player and he went in for the hit, and unfortunately for Thornton, he turned at the last minute. I think it definitely looked worse than it was. All Wings fans know that Cleary would never go into a hit with the intent to hurt someone, so I don't really give a crap what Boston commentators say.

I find him most annoying during our home games. Mickey and Ken are doing the broadcast and then every so often a third ghost voice--aka Larry Murphy--will come in with some lame comment from ice level. When Ken and Mickey are there, I just find Murphy unnecessary. On the road I find him less annoying, but I often am in disbelief at how much he tends to compliment the other team. I know he might just be trying to level out the homerism that Ken Daniels sometimes has, but often it is ridiculous.

Wow, that is awful. I loved Avery when he was in Detroit, I met him and thought he was a stand-up guy. That said, he was clearly masking his a-hole tendencies. The guy is a pretty good hockey player, but IMO what he brings on the ice doesn't make up for the guy being a complete cancer in the locker room.

Lebda because he seems like he can party with the best of us college students.

Along with that one, I wanna see the one from the 2002 playoffs vs. Carolina when Shanny was in the box and some fan was taunting at him--and Shanny made this gesture to her trying to say "shave your armpits." It was priceless...priceless enough where I can't even find it on youtube.

"But he doesn't have the work ethnic" haha, love it!

Haha...hilarious video! I'll join in on the fun...this isn't really funny, but it was great to see Hartnell get his ass kicked.

Alright I am off to bed...6am comes wayy too fast. Here's to a better outcome come Sunday.

Yea, like that stretch where we didn't win a game in like 10 games? We were all freaking and I am pretty sure things turned out okay. Hopefully this game pissed every single Red Wing off and things will get better from here ::keeps fingers crossed::
-
I guess I'll look on the bright side right now...at least I am not a Lions fan. The wings have more wins right now than the lions will probably get in the next 2 seasons...combined.
-
Exactly...they have elite players who are not playing up to their potential. If anybody can make these guys play up their highest levels it is Babcock. I have trust in him--he'll either get the effort he wants or bench them (hopefully).
-
Other teams smartly won't take him...they'd rather the Wings keep him and they reap the benefits when they play the Wings. Since Lebda won't score any goals for them, they know he'll be more valuable for them if he stays with the Wings and improves on his golf score of a +/- when they play against them.
-
And that this saying a lot...that first game this year vs. the Leafs was painful.
-
Betman hates us...he gives us the most back to back games of any other team in the league, and then "rewards" us with a week off so we can get rusty. Gotta love it.
-
I think that our record makes us look better than we have been playing...but at the same time this game is making us look sooo much worse than we really are. I'm not freaking out based on this game, but something truly needs to be done about this defense. Whether that is taking Lebda out, or switching up the lines or whatever, Babcock can't simply overlook this anymore.
