Along with a game 4 victory, I'd love to see Cleary phaneuf Tootoo...please oh please.
-
Trotz said that? What a dumbass. The madder Hasek is, the better, more inspired he plays. So keep on coming with those Trotz...kind of like when Vokoun said a couple years back that the wings were "arrogant" and then we didn't lose another game to Nashville that series.
-
Haha...well I ignored the GDT last game bc I had class, but I've learned my lesson. Wings will come out flying, will take a page from the preds' book and score back-to-back 2 times and add an another one in the third: Wings 5 (Cleary gets 2, Z, Homer, and Lids) Preds 1 Sidenote: Happy B-day OsGod Sidenote 2: I cannot believe that Hudler is our leading scoring in the series...damnnn.

OMG, most intelligent thing posted in this thread.

I guess I don't have so much of a problem with Lilja as everybody else. As much as he bothers me, I wouldn't pull him in favor over lots of speed, but no offensive abilities Lebda. Like I said before, no offense to Hartigan but putting Abdelkadar on that fourth line totally changes the feeling of that line...Abdelkadar will go into the corners hard, throw his body around, and I want to see him in this kind of hard-hitting, grinding situation. He was great at the end of the season, and he deserves a shot based on that now. Worst case scenerio: he is invisible like Hartigan and we move on.
-
Any word on Maltby? The more this series goes on the more I notice his absence. Until he returns, however, my only lineup change would be taking Hartigan out and putting Abdelkadar in. I just feel like that would be an upgrade energy-wise, and Abdelkadar plays a type of hockey that could better suit playing with Drake/Mac.

He needs some vel-cro on his stick to keep the puck there. He is still playing hard, but he cannot puck handle for some reason. And you're exactly right, any sort of physical contact and he is knocked off the puck, which I dont't remember always being an issue. All in all, he seems too tense...he needs to calm down and shoot the puck more. In regards to Cleary, I am willing to give him the pass card for being nonexistent on the score sheet, but until last night's game he has seemed like he was lacking effort--which is strange because that is something he prides himself on. But, like i said his effort was really up last night, so hopefully he has turned the corner.

I'll give in and say the Joe is "dull" during the regular season, but it is anything but during the playoffs. Personally, if I want roudy chants and thunder stix, I'll go to a college hockey game (which don't get me wrong, I absolutely love). Don't confuse actually paying attention to a game, however, with dullness...people are on the edge of their seats in the playoffs. I mean, the Sommet center sounded rather dull when the preds were down 3-2...so dullness is in fact a matter of opinion. Bottom line: i love both atmospheres, but in different conditions--the "dull"ness of the Joe suits me fine.

Exactly. It is nice to see at least some people defend him. After last night's game I was hating on Hasek, I was so mad--but after watching the highlights (it was painful) I realized that our defensive positioning on those final 2 goals was awful. It is easiest to blame the goalie, but in this case it would be the equivilent of Trotz blaming the refs--putting everybody else off the hook for their poor play. Here are my observations/venting from last night's game: -First off, Stuart is one of my favorite Wings, but he played awful last night. Just awful. I look forward to him really bouncing back in game 4. -Secondly, last night was perhaps the first game I saw Cleary really working his ass off in the playoffs. Prior to last night, he has seemed to be on auto-pilot (which I understand to a point because he did miss almost 8 weeks)--so looks like he's turned a corner and hopefully he can start contributing offensively. -I am coming to realize how much the team is missing Maltby--sorry Hartigan, but I am finding you rather useless out there.

And I can only wish that'd scording goals that quickly would actually happen for us instead of against us. BTW, in honor of this thread I thought I'd post this over from the photoshop thread... per CrossoverThrash

The toosie whistle is pathetic and annoying--a whistle to let the whole arena know that your third line checker is on the ice?---oookayy. In regards to the song, just because it is a country song and they are in Nashville doesn't mean that it is right to play this song. Way to keep the arena pumped up after scoring a goal by playing a fast, exciting song...oh wait. BTW:Can it please be tomorrow night already, so I can get this awful taste out of my mouth from last night

As much as I love Avery and think the screen was creative/hilarious, I wouldn't want to see something like that become part of the game. It's funny the first time around, but it takes some serious skill to screen the traditional Homer-esche way--what Avery was doing took zero skill, just an ingenious nact to annoy the other team. Part of what Homer does is not just screen, but also deflect pucks into the net. If Avery wants to stand with his head facing away from the shot, leaving him unable to purposefully deflect shots or get out of the way head-level pucks, then I guess he should go for it.
-
You read my mind...I was just heading onto youtube to watch Pavs/Grier thing. That was hilarious.
-
Nothing wrong with it--I found it absolutely hilarious...Avery just keeps coming up with new and creative ways to annoy the crap out of the opposing team. If the Devils didn't like it, they should have put someone on Avery to take care of it.

The return of the turtle, along with how fired up Babcock was when this was going on...

As much as I love Downey, I agree with the vast majority of people in saying he doesn't really belong on the ice right now. In regards to Hartigan, I can understand people not wanting Downey to replace him, but what about Abdelkadar? I just feel that Abdelkadar's style of play (grinding and such) suits a 4th line more than Hartigan's style. I am not totally against Hartigan, knowing that he has speed and every once and a while chips in a point--but in the future, I wouldn't mind seeing the rookie get a shot at it.

Per yahoosports If nashville continues to think that bad bounces are the only thing distinguishing them from a loss and a victory, this will be a short series.
-
I got so excited for Mac when he scored that goal...it was amazing. Felt like old times. But more than him scoring that goal, Mac played really well--especially defensively. Those type of things go unnoticed by most, but he was real responsible on both ends of the ice today. Nice job Mac!
-
Haha, I needed a good laugh. Nice mug shot Drapes!
-
Okay, did Homer actually touch Ellis? I didn't see any contact, just perfect positioning by Homer on the screen. BTW, this whining by Trotz does pass over to his players, as seen when Lidstrom's goal went in Ellis immediated biatched to the ref--just because you can't see doesn't mean it is a penalty Ellis.
-
I've noticed this with Cleary a bit as well, but I am not worried about him. He is only 8 games back (or so) from a serious injury in which he lost a lot of weight, but also was totally out of the game for a long period of time. He'll come to, I could even see it in today's game when Babock put Draper and Franzen with him--it got better. I love Clears...it will all be good.
-
I know...talk about taking the responsibility off of your team...instead of talking about what should have been, he should be calling out some of his players to work a little bit--no, a lot--harder, starting with his captain. He shouldn't be taking his team off the hook here. PS. Homer didn't even hinder Ellis' movements at all, and we all know if he had it would have been called (with Homer's tracker record and such)
