i'm from philly, i know flyers fans...believe me they aren't saying anything interesting. remember the fat loser who wanted to fight domi in the penatly box only to fall over the glass and have domi punch him. hahahaha flyers fans, always good for a laugh

with cleary out 6-8 weeks now, wow we certainly need to make some moves. the wings haven't been playing all that well lately.
-
fair enough lou, but you honestly think feds doesn't have alot to offer?? all the things mentioned that he brings to the table, you still don't think he'd help? i'm curious, plus he wouldn't cost that much to get in a trade or even if they brought him here in the offseason.

i've seen alot of people on here complaining about how the wings don't have enough grit and size etc. i agree we could use alittle but i don't wanna see the wings turn into every other team out there. maybe there's a reason we are dominating the league. i have nhl center ice and i'm about as big a hockey fan there is, but i hate to admit i'm getting bored with nhl play these days. i almost can't watch eastern conference games as it's all dump and chase and that bores the hell out of me. seems the wings are the last team left who focus on puck control and skill and carrying the puck over the blue line with players like zetterberg and datsyuk. i hope they never change. it's exciting and fun to watch and probably the reason i've always been a red wings fan. i'll never forget the days of the russian 5. that was magic. we have 3 cups in the last 10 years. maybe we'll get another one this year. it's hard to find shanahan's these days like he was back then. an enforcer and a pure goal scorer. sure we could use another 'late 90's shanahan', but there aren't many left. rick nash is similar but doesn't play all that fiesty, he just has size. to me the NHL is in trouble. the rule changes after the lockout are almost pointless now as defenses and coaches have adjusted to them. goal scoring is not up. basically i'm just so happy the wings never seem to change their style and hope they never do. they might be the only team i consistently enjoy watching. i hope we can win the cup this year without the goony/grit guys.

cause it seems every other time someone says "no" to having feds back, they cry about him leaving and being a money guy. it's total bs. not saying you've said that. but fine your entitled to your opinion as am i. it's all good
-
gordiesid&ted, your unlike most people on these forums that think fedorov has nothing left to give the wings. most people on here feel he's a valuable assest even in his decline. it's not just that i love fedorov as a player, i also love the wings and i wouldn't want a player on the wings if i didn't feel he'd help and feds would offer alot as many have already stated.
-
Lou we get it, you don't like fedorov, your bitter. you're actually one of the few people who constantly diss fedorov like you know nothing about the wings and his past here. he's not looked on to score 30+ goals anymore. he's basically a defenseman in the center position. he plays more defense than the whole jackets team, i know i watch all their games. he would be so valuable to the wings going into and in the playoffs, open your eyes
-
you might be my new favorite poster on these forums!! thank you. oh and i would never diss yzerman, he's a fav of mine, a red wings legend, nhl legend. i just won't ever go there, but facts are facts and sergei was the face of the wings during his time. yzerman was the captain. yzerman's big numbers came mostly before fedorov joined the league. sergei was probably the biggest part in winning the 3 cups and making the wings a dynasty. although i feel bringing shanahan in was the missing piece.
-
that has bitter written all over it! waaaahh, sounds like your the whiner. as for the guy who claimed if fedorov was never a red wing, we wouldn't be asking for him back... that's such BS. you're saying if he put up his #'s on a different team, you wouldn't want a former mvp with his skills and defensive ability a one of the most proven playoff players in history on the wings? your kidding yourself. that's not a valid point whatsoever. joe sakic was never on the red wings, his numbers are on the decline, you wouldn't want him on the wings?? mike modano?? your damn right i'd take either. and therefore we'd still want a player like fedorov
-
feds credentials as a wing doesn't match lidstrom's?? are you crazy, granted they are at different positions but let's get serious now. fedorov is among the top 3-5 spots in nearly every offensive red wing record category + mvp, 2 selke's, 3 cups, 163 playoff pts, 13 seasons as a wing, calder runner up, 4/5 all star selections, he even played defense very well and he was something like a +278 as a wing. one of the best +/- ratings since the stat was created. i think that's nough said btw there are already 2 topics in the poll section about whether his number should be retired. should probably move over there, i just felt compelled to defend this crazyiness.
-
what year did the wings current playoff seasons streak start?? that's right 90-91. who was a rookie that year with 31 goals? that's right. as much as i love yzerman, his team before feds didn't make the playoffs. and 163pts in 162 games in the playofs is among the best in the history of the game. i was gonna let the topic die but apparently people didn't feel it was neccesary. sorry again but might as well let it roll now
-
wow.. i cant believe how often this topic comes up. and i'm a lurker. but i'm sorry. move on. ok ok i get the point, it's apparently come up too much, if i could close the topic i would but apparently that can't happen so just ignore it then. sorry, just let it die and move to the bottom or if an moderator sees this, just delete it then.
-
my bad, i already did. haha. your probably right, although it's deadline time. hope people don't get annoyed with me
-
i've been on the forums for only a couple weeks and this is my fav topic so far. #1 i'm jealous as hell that you met him, but this topic has seemed to bring out all the fedorov supporters and in my short time on the site i've really been throwing his name around cause i'm his biggest fan no joke. it would be the greatest thing ever if he came back to the wings. you think ken holland ever goes on sites like this to look for feedback? we should start a topic about bringing sergei back!! i'm on it!
-
and i also mean not a former red wing, or else i'd include fedorov obviously, and maybe shanahan. 1. gaborik 2. havlat 3. kovalchuk 4. ovechkin 5. spezza goalie: 1. Dipietro

I don't know if I'm alone here, but I truly believe that Pavel Bure was/is the games purest and best goal scorer ever! Why do I say this, well here are some #'s. keep in mind I am in no way taking anything away from Gretzky and the following legends, just offering a topic for discussion. Bure 702 games played, 437 goals. that means it took him 1.61 games to score a goal. his career was filled with injuries. let's say Bure had a healthy career, he would have broke gretzky's goal record in less games. you'll see when i post wayne's stats. Bure had or neared 60 goal season's 4 of the 7 full season's he played. he benefited during his time with advanced equipment but faced better goalies. in my opinion, Bure never took a shift off and no one in the games history went on the ice with more passion to score a goal. he didn't play on the greatest of teams, and basically carried the canucks for many years. I'll always remember him going to the Panthers and playing in just 11 games that season and having 13 goals after missing basically the whole season. he was simply a goal scoring machine and a one of a kind talent. it's a shame about his injuries cause I really think when you look up the record for goals and even the nhl's best, you'd see Pavel Bure near the top no questions asked. Gretzky 1487 games played, 894 goals. that means it took him 1.66 games to score a goal. he played 20+ seasons with on a few injuries here and there. he had 5 60+ goal seasons. he benefited from playing with some of the games all time greats during their prime. the equipment wasn't what it is today, but let's face it, the goalies weren't half as good, therefore I would say Gretzky is the greatest of "his time". the game changed alot in the early 90's. Howe 1767 games played over 26 seasons, 801 goals. took him 2.21 games to score a goal. believe it or not, mr. hockey never had a 50 goal season. very consistent scorer. he benefited from longevity and flat out playing forever!! haha Brett Hull 1269 games played, 741 goals. took him 1.71 games to score a goal. 3 times he score 70+ goals in a season. so there are some interesting facts in my opinion. now to throw a wrench in, I wanna bring up Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin 217 games played, 143 goals. that's only 1.52 games to score a goal. in today's game, let's face it the goalies are so good, take up so much net and it's harder to score yet he's doing it at record pace. he may score close to 70 goals this season which would be a modern day record. in just his 3rd season he'll have hit or neared 50+ goals in each season. In 12-15 years from now, will we be hailing Ovechkin as the greatest goal score of all time i wonder? keep in mind, some of this is hypothetical, it's based on averages and who knows what would have happened in any change of a situation but as far as I'm concerned, when I think of the NHL's best goal scorer of all time, when people say Wayne Gretzky, I don't, I think Pavel Bure what are your feelings?? YES I SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED BOSSY AND MARIO. sorry i was at work when posting, i should have taken more time, however i still consider Bure top 3 for sure.
-
OsGod, you're my boy blue! so far you've always had my back in the forums and seem to be a big fedorov fan. good to hear, let's not let people get too down on fedorov. even if he never comes back to the wings, he's a legendary red wings like it or not that he left ya know.
-
thanks hank, at least someone is feeling what i'm saying. i guess you'd have to take into account, the players linemates, goalies, the era the played in, injuries, games played, all kinds of things and still it would be merely opinion. i'm sticking to my guns and keeping bure in the top 3 no matter what.
-
the only reason i said no ex-wings is cause this is a red wings site, obviously most of our fav's are going to be wings or ex wings. i was curious to see aside from them who people are cheering for.
-
i don't think anyone is arguing with anyone, merely bringing up different points of view. i agree with alot of what others including you are saying. i'm not on the forums to argue with anyone, i just like discussing and hearing what others have to say.
-
i'm from the philly area, bobby clarke says stupid things all the time. i ignore him, haha
-
i disagree that regular season doesn't mean anything. i know why people say that, but would you rather the team just squeek by and make the playoffs? no, we're are comfortably the best team in the league and we have incredible stats. (by "we" i mean the wings, ha). the regular season might get pushed aside once playoffs start but ya play every game regular or playoffs to win and they are. am i making any sense?
-
1. Fedorov me, back fedorov, naaaah. haha, i've been on the forum like a week and i've started 3 fedorov topics already. hahaha sorry. will always be my favorite, it kills me not to have him finish his career in detroit someone mentioned antoine vermette, that would be sweet, he's gonna be a star in the near future. and i can't believe i heard such a negative on jiri hudler, the guy is playing great this season. although i understand he's a big piece of trade bait and they might have to use him to get playoff performers. and a few gratton supporters, that blows my mind. although i've neve had a problem with gratton.
-
yes i agree i left out bossy by accident. i could have added lemieux also, i just didn't have an hour to post, i was at work sorry. but i agree i should have included them. it's all opinion anyway. and by the way, i already said "no disrespect to gretzky", however i'm sorry and i've seen this around the forum but it was indeed an era of s***ty goalies let's face it. even if wayne had today's stick technology, if he were up against goalies like broduer, loungo, etc all career, the games history would be much different, and i don't think there would be a "great one". is that a stretch? maybe but i've seen enough highlights of the old days and it makes me puke how horendous some goals were often scored. i'll admit i'm not big on wayne gretzky, i think his legacy should stick to his era. the game is just too different since the 90's as far as i'm concerned most of today's goalies are too big, equip is too big and the nets should be bigger!! how's that for stirring the pot for discussion. nah don't, that's another topic all together. haha and hey at least by starting the topic it's opening my mind somewhat and i'm questioning my thoughts on bure, although i still think he's top 3 for sure
-
alright!! i knew there were more fedorov fans on this forum! i can imagine all the fed haters changing their opinion if he were back in detroit. he would be cheered very loudly that first game i know it. RED WINGS LEGEND, and don't you's forget it! ok i'm just ranting sorry
