i'm back, and now that i am i'm sorry about excluding bossy in my original numbers. he was amazing and could easily be considered the best pure goalscorer ever. bobby hull is a good example on how he did leave for another league and would have had more goals. it wasn't neccesarily a topic where i was saying i was right, that's why i left it open for discussion. as far as i'm concerned all of the mentioned players are legends in their own rights. anyone think ovechkin could one day be mentioned with the likes of gretzky, howe, bure, bossy etc?? i do

we all remember fedorov going back on defense for stretches of time and doing extremely well, even to the point where the great scotty bowman even said "if he were there a whole season, he could win a norris trophy". i'm curious to see if anyone thinks other forwards could have done something similar and been successful and how you'd rate them based on predicting an outcome. i'm scratching my head and i honestly can't really think of anyone. even looking back at the past selke winners like sammy paulsson, jere lehtinen, rod brind'amour etc, they don't seem like ideal defensmen. i'm not saying you have to be big, fedorov is decent size, didn't really need to hit much, he was smart with the puck and knew how to move around checks. can you think of anyone?

haha, ok i'll lay off the crack then. so your saying mike bossy is the greatest goal scorer ever or simply include him. i'll include him if you feel it's not a valid case without it. i agree now that you mention him, but i still say bure is the best either way. i'm not gonna be on the comp for alittle while so if you wanna add bossy's stats, be my guest.

i'm sooooooo glad he didn't choose the wings, i don't want him. it's pretty obvious he's going back to philly and being from philly i think that's great cause i hate the flyers and he's not going to help them. i predict he'll get hurt before the playoffs for alittle bit, then do very little in the playoffs and the flyers loose in the 2nd round if they happen to get out of the 1st.

just sounds like your bitter, that's all. if anything when yzerman was out, fedorov thrived we all know that. lazy huh, go to the fourth game when the ducks swept the wings, who scored the final goal on an end to end rush when the wings were loosing the game........fedorov. i agree sometimes it seems he doesn't play his best but to say he was lazy, it's just not fair. anyone who hasn't made the playoffs in 3 seasons especially after making 13 straight wants to win and would put in just as much hard work as the next guy. he would do very well back on the wings, go out on a good note and detroit fans would respect him again. hell i never stopped. players change teams so often these days for a number of reasons, why give one player like fedorov such a hard time. don't answer that, i'll just assume some of you are upset not to have had him always a red wings. believe me i'm disappointed too.

i said salvador not mayers. and i'm only half kidding about hating those two that have to do with fedorov. i just don't like players who hurt fedorov even if unintentionally, it's a grudge. i really don't hate keith ballard, he just happened to hit fedorov up high that's all. the others on the list though i def do hate

let me state very clearly, i'm not saying gretzky and mario were overrated throughout their career's, i'm saying they were towards the end even while putting up ok numbers, they were hailed as the games best, and flat out were not. that's what i'm saying. of course they are great, legends!!

wow i didn't know that about clark, good to know. i guess right there it proves his potential was more on the offensive side. who knows maybe wendel could have been a decent defenseman. matthieu dandenault is a great example. drafted as a wing, played defense for a few years, now back as a right wing with the habs.

i don't think in mario's last 5 years he was deking anyone out of their skates, so my point still stays justified sorry. yes he was big, but so is chara, i saw avery taking runs at chara as funny as that sounds. bottom line is, players just didn't go after lemieux, there seemed to be some unspoken rule about it. gretzky too for that matter, he was so small, no one wanted to be the guy who ended the "great one's" career due to laying him out on his ass for good. and i'm very sorry to say this but i really think gretzky and mario were completely overrated due to their legacy all the way till they retired and the special treatment allowed offensive pts to still be produced. anyway, go back to making your lists, i don't want this to go too far off topic.

wendel clark huh?? hmmmm, well why do you say that? i don't personally think he would make a good dman, but maybe you could explain. he wasn't the best of skaters, not really known for his passing skills, he was a decent scorer over his career and he became more responsible defensively just as everyone does when they play for the wings.

not a tough call at all. the wings could possibly win the cup without lidstrom. not extremely likely cause lids might go down as the best defensman ever, BUT without ovechkin, the caps might as well go play in the AHL. ovechkin is the mvp this year in my opinion whether the caps make the playoffs or not. he's amazing.

don't get me wrong, i loved having schneider on the wings, but i couldn't be happier with having rafalski now. i was so pissed when schneider got signed by the ducks, the next day the wings announced rafalski and i said "wow we're better off now anyway". he's been a huge addition.

i agree with earthhuman, i just didn't wanna say it. haha. i can't believe there are this many crosby haters. i'm from the philly area, so it's understand here because the pens are a rival but elsewhere, crosby should be hailed and let's face it we need him desperately to keep hockey alive and hopefully more popular in the future. give him credit, he's the best overall player in the league.

i'm talking about the last 5 years or so of mario's career, he was given special treatment, just as gretzky was. seemed there was some code where players said "let's not hit these guys too much". i'm not gonna say they are 2 of the best obviously, i just never saw other superstars like them get such treatment. look at jagr yesterday. komisarek was messing him up. i give jagr tons of credit seeing stuff like that.

i'm not sure where he lives actually, he lived in west bloomfield hills right? i think his family is in michigan, i could be wrong. he still has the sergei fedorov foundation though which he created by giving up his 97-98 salary that helps kids in michigan get scholarships.

i'm sorry i can't just go top 5 1. steve downie (dangerous player) 2. todd bertuzzi ((we all know what he did) 3. derrian hatcher (isn't good enough to be in this league anymore) 4. chris simon (another dangerous player, no talent) 5. sean avery (all around ahole) 6. bryce salvador (for breaking fedorov's nose years ago) 7. keith ballard (for giving fedorov a concussion 2 weeks ago) 8. jordan tootoo (if he wasn't a cheap player he wouldn't be in the league, little talent) 9. chris pronger (takes really nasty runs at people intending to hurt someone, ex: homer) 10. jarkko ruutu (nothing but dirty all the time and he honestly looks like he wants to kill someone) if the list was top 50, almost the whole flyers team would make it. yes i'm from philly. all time would probably be something like: 1. claude lemieux (no need to explain) 2. john leclair (should give all his money to eric lindros and michael renberg) 3. todd bertuzzi 4. jean sebastian giguere (anyone else think if they were as big and covered as much net as he does and use the size equipment he "did", they'd be a pretty good goalie too?, ok maybe not but still, the guy is overrated imo) 5. mario lemieux (i really feel he was given special treatment as far as physical contact went. watch games again, players rarely hit him, i'm sure i'm opening up a can here, but it's true)

according to rumors, they have fedorov going to either the wings, ottawa or pittsburgh. i'm his biggest fan and honestly, i want him going back to the wings, but i certainly wouldn't mind him going to either the sens or pens. their offenses are leaps and bounds above jackets, although who's isn't. his career would spark and i would expect fedorov to shine in the playoffs like he always does. i've put my faith in the jackets as i follow where fedorov goes no matter how big a wings fan i am, but the jackets are just going nowhere and i want fedorov to end his career a winner. i can't wait for the deadline to approach, he just needs to get back playing from his concussion so teams can see him play a few more games before dealing for him

apparently not enough of you watch bluejackets games. get center ice! if you saw the way he plays, he's got passion, he wants to win with the jackets. he's not worried about scoring 30 goals anymore. he's further back in the defensive zone than the fr*ggin' dmen! see the look on his face when his teammate scores and say he isn't passionate. he skates his ass of for 30 seconds and gets off, he takes the shortest shifts ever, in fact in makes me mad but he's a team player and at least saves his energy well. i could see the jackets trading him for samuelsson and i'd love that. a move to a cup contender would spark fedorov and i would expect his offensive numbers go up without a doubt.

he's skating today and might play tomorrow so he'll be fine, it's not the end of his career. there's also talk about him going to ottawa or pittsburg. i'm so disspointed with some of my fellow wings fans on here for bashing fedorov like he's never done anything for detroit. he's a red wing legend like it or not. sorry he left, forgive the guy, he was a main part in why the wings won 3 cups.

he does play some time with nash on the top line, but look at it from a coaching standpoint. he's on the jackets 2nd and 3rd lines to add depth and defensive responsibilty as well as to add veteran experience on a team full of young inexperienced players. if he were strickly a 3rd liner, than he wouldn't be on the power play yet he's the main quaterback for the jackets with hainsey. so anyway
