I am impressed with the way Datsyuk is playing too. He leads the league in takeaways by far. He is starting to score some new kinds of goals I haven't seen him score before too. He is stronger now than he ever has been and it is showing. He really tore it up in game 6 against Anaheim last year and I was wondering why he couldn't have done that in game 5! The New york Islander's Nassau Coliseum is really bad right now but they are getting a huge upgrade. Before: After: It'll be an icon! I'm jealous! Detroit and Mr. I can do something competitive with this. I know they can! We're Hockeytown!

I think it would be great to have a new arena behind the Fox Theatre called Google Center. It would open the area up and it could be made more Parisian. A new arena might be 5 years down the road. I would rather wait for a cutting edge arena that can give Detroit a nice facelift rather than something more generic for a cheaper cost.

I don't like the idea. You would need super fast planes like the concorde to make it practical. I think it would take something away from the game to be honest. It's good for America to have Europeans strive to play over here too. Europe should organize their own pro-league. I wish Bettman would focus everything on the States. Make a push for more highschool hockey teams and leagues. Make playing hockey more accessible. Partner up with Yahoo for more free streaming games on the internet with ads. Don't grow the NHL past 30 teams. He's such a weiner.

One time I got there early and had a conversation with one of the ushers. At the second period he remembered us and moved us to seats in the lower bowl. I'd try asking after the first period.

That's bad ass! Okay, I agree you shouldn't say that in the NHL. It's an intimidation tactic. Sometimes hockey players have to fight. I say get rid of the instigator rule like others have said. I think throwing some insults is alright sometimes though. Like saying to Corey Perry "Hey your face looks like a foot, want to fight?" If Bertuzzi said he was going to kill me, I might think he was serious though.

I found one of the rumours.

Giguere is resting his left arm on the top of his non-form fitting pads! The vest he is wearing looks pretty big too. It literally looks like Giguere's chest guard is going to push off his mask if he isn't careful. Hasek's right hand pad isn't as wide but looks longer. Giggy's right arm pad looks like it is surgically attached to his forearm. I'd bet different synthetic materials can reduce the chance and amount of a rebound. I think they should set regulations on all those little things like material and how the pads fit to the goaltender. There should be a limit on how far the pads over the knee can extend from the thigh. Chest pads should be equally proportionate to each goaltender. Hasek isn't as bad. His shin pads pull back to his thigh (Eliminating an entire strategy of play really). It is visible that he has a neck. It looks like his pads are made out of different material than Reebok's(maybe less advantageous rebounds?). I think these little things Giggy and other new goalies do differently gives them a huge advantage while not immediately obvious. I think it is a problem and there needs to be a lot of regulations set for all the little tweaks you or a manufacturer can do. They should be checked with respect to the goalies size before they are shipped to the goalie. They should train one of the people to check them before each game too. We have the technology now to integrate this seemlessly.

Yeah, it seems like last year we had some dead weight skating around on the ice. I think players are more on the same level this year with no loafers.

There was talk last year before the playoffs of a new arena. They've bought the property for it by Comerica park but I think they were counting on the Wings to win the cup. They have to make a decision by 2009 when the lease at the Joe expires. An outdoor rink by the arena would be really cool! It's that or the Joe gets renovated. I hope it's a new arena.

That won't last long. Look at the new arena they are getting! The Lighthouse Come on Illitches! Let's get an arena that revolutionizes Detroit!!

Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake? I'd rather see Brian Burke in drag and Gary Bettman in the supporting roles! Anything in mainstream media with NHL hockey in it is good for the NHL even if the movie turns out to be crap. I'd rather see a good movie focused entirely around NHL hockey. Hopefully this one doesn't make a mockery of the NHL.

Eliminate Atlanta and Florida. Eliminate the CBA 'parity.' Move Detroit to the Eastern conference. Relocate Nashville to Winnepeg.

It's no doubt Bettman wants expansion teams to win and no team to stay great for a long time to emulate the NFL. Is Bettman, a man who never played hockey, ruining the NHL? Should he be forced to resign to someone who knows hockey? Teams like Nashville and Atlanta that caused the lockout are still struggling financially. Doesn't this make a mockery of the CBA?
