I'm excited for all the hate I will have for the Blackhawks this season. They got rid of Lang though. He was their best player against us whenever we played them last season. Bummer. They have Scotty Bowman now though. Wonder what that will do. Our D can keep Toews and Kane at bay, no doubt. Khabibulin's play will be important. He was getting pretty good again last season. Campbell is an exciting addition. They remind me of Pittsburgh, only in the Western conference.

Even a $4 million cap boost wouldn't work. Hossa - $7.45 Zetterberg - $7 Franzen - $2.5 Hudler - $2 Samuelsson - $2 Kopecky - $1.5 Downey - .5$ Conklin $1 = $23.95 That would require a $8.46 cap jump. How much did it go up last season? Can't wait to see some friendly competition between Z and Hossa though.
-
I haven't really seen a Hossa interview and have no idea how money hungry he is. There is $15.483 million for next year if the cap stays the same. You have to sign both Z and Hossa for at least $7 million each. Zetterberg is more likely to sign for less but combined I don't see how they could be signed under $14 million. If the Wings really impress Hossa this season he might consider staying put. That leaves $1.483 million to sign Hudler, Franzen, Samuelesson, Kopecky, Downey and Conklin. Franzen, Hudler and Kopecky would be pretty hard to replace. We'd have to see a salary cap boost. Say $4 million. Then you might be able to squeeze the guys in for reasonable payment. Probably not.

I think it's going to be tough. Dallas and San Jose are going to be good. If we hit them both in the playoffs I fear a major injury is almost inevitable. Hopefully we get another big guy who can run into people a lot at the trade deadline. Goaltending needs to be good too. Ozzy needs to keep his focus.

Who does Dallas have new now? Brunnstrom and Avery? They are going to be pretty good. Hossa though man. Hossa!

1) Fighting is cool. Let it happen more 2) ESPN plays games on regular basis and hires people that like hockey 3) ESPN2 coverage also 4) Better marketing 5) Smaller goalie equiptment. (already happening)

M.I.A. - Paper Planes Can't wait for pinapple express!

Yeah, I checked her profile too and she was only 16. She should be an LGW roadie or something.

Samuelsson looks totally dumbfounded in all these pictures. hahahah.

They'll bring in a tough guy at the trade deadline. Probably sign McCarty or Downey but I doubt both.

What a pretty couple!

The year long hiatus of NHL hockey and obvious slanted calls during important games are why I dislike Bettman so. Punk ass fool played himself.

Awesome wager. It's going to be close. How Hossa will fit in with the Wings remains to be seen. Iginla has proven himself a dominant player each season on his team. I think Iginla will get more points from looking at last season's numbers. Hossa had 66 points and Iginla had 98. I bet, with the Wings, Hossa will get around the mid-80's point range. Will Bertuzzi make more room on the ice for Iginla? Maybe. Iginla will probably have around 98 points again this season. I don't know much about Hossa's style of play yet. He's a real good puck handler. I expect to see many goals from many players on the Wings this season. I'll definatley root for Hossa to break 100 points though!

That's awesome. I'm totally stoked for this game. An octopi-free zone?! This game will be really exciting. -
Wow, games against Vancouver this season will be real exciting with Sundin and all. Vancouver is a pretty sweet city too. Yer gonna have an awesome time!

If we lose in the Finals, is '08-'09 season a failure?
jim3033 replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
The western conference finals will be the back breaker next season. San Jose and Dallas look like big threats (wouldn't be surprised if Anaheim is pretty good). Possible injuries will be a constant scare even more so this next season. Will it be a failure if they lose in the WCF? It's too soon to say. I'm looking forward to an exciting regular season. -
It's too bad Radulov left. Nashville was a good team last year and it's always nice to see good teams in the central division. The playoff series with them was really exciting.

It sucks Shanahan left but I agree that maybe he didn't fit with the new team as well as the old team of the late 90's. Would Shanahan come back to Detroit for 500K-ish on a one year deal? Or would that be taking away too much from our younger players? Shanny-Hossa-Franzen Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filppula-Hudler-Cleary Draper-Kopecky-Sammy Maltby/Helm You would have 3 very dangerous lines and you could randomly split up zetterberg and datsyuk. Shanny could play on the 3rd line some nights to help improve our younger players. You could have the top two lines compete for top line. Filppula-Hudler-Cleary could be a really, really good line this year. or.. Hossa-Zetterberg-Datsyuk Shanahan-Filppula-Franzen Hudler-Cleary-Holmstrom Draper-Maltby-Sammy We'd be scoring goals every few minutes I'm pretty sure.

Tamp Bay Lightning - Bary Melrose will make this Lightning season delightfully annoying/entertaining. Florida has 2 teams and I liked the Panthers first, must have been the rat thing. Pittsburgh Penguins - This once exciting team is now Sidney Crosby land. Malkin looks goofy. St. Louis Blues - The Lions of Hockey. Classic sure but when will this team be good? San Jose Sharks - The teal color is annoying. I hope we don't meet them in the playoffs next season.

:rotflmao: @ icon! I want to hear Pronger get in on this. He'd be all like "you spos-da be in last dis season!"

Burke wears the right brand shoes. He's still a good GM from a lawyer standpoint but does he have a good hockey sense? I think so. He's kind of like the Crosby of GM's.

It's a good idea. I think Emery is a good young goalie with veteran experience who can improve. Emery could carry the team in the playoffs if Osgood got hurt and probably pretty darn well.
