I can't believe the Rangers lost to these guys the other night without Blake. No wonder Avery got in a fight with Malik during practice.

Did you see them callin' ozzy to go to the bench at that delayed penalty? He wouldn't budge! This is like a scouting/trade assessment game. Redwings are just testing out their weak spots on these guys. They showed Ken Holland watching the game. He looked like a hawk! wrap around Z!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow this game is really messed up. Mickey on 2nd goal- "If they even smell another one close to that they gotta switch goalies." Redmond is awesome!

Wings win it 4-1 (Hudler, Filpulla, Cleary, Holmstrom) It is possible Kings could pull a McGiver and win this if the 3rd and 4th lines play crappy again. Blake signs a contract with the wings between 2nd and 3rd periods. New Mickeyism introduced. Bettman retires.

Back in the eighties you could chase people down with your skate and not get a penalty. Wow, I sound as stupid as Bobby Clarke. The caps grabbed third seed in the east with only 2 games above .500!

ahh I didn't remember that one. I remember there were rumors he wanted to leave and then he was gone! I don't know what happened with Shanahan. I know Lapointe wanted to leave. I got a little carried away when I compared to redwing players. Even though I still don't see Fedorov making such a splash if in Forsberg's position. Maybe that is because he isn't as big of a player. Still something doesn't set well with his antics and the fact that he hasn't played at all this year and expects teams to roll out the red carpet. It's something you hope doesn't happen every season at this time of year, that's for sure.

No, he's being rude for making such a splash at an important time for the entire NHL. No team is going to trade with another team trying to get some draft picks and prospects if they have a chance to get Forsberg for free. So nobody has made a move yet because Forsberg is leading everyone on to get the most money out of the team he wants to play for and catch a bunch of fame in the process. I think what he is doing is really selfish. Mlive said he might not make a deal for another couple of weeks. I don't know whether it is his agent and the hype system in the NHL but at the end of the day he is the player that controls all of that. You'd never see a famous Red Wing player make such a hoopla, (Shanahan, Fedorov, Lapointe) they are bigger than that. And look at Rob Blake, he came right out and shot down all the rumors by saying he wants to help build LA into a competitive team a few days ago. It's just a little selfish and doesn't set a good example for younger players who look up to him. He could get just as much by going up to a team w/o the media and saying "hey, I hurt my foot but I'm getting better. I want to play for you guys and here is what I want."

Well they have been playing league hockey all season in a Swiss league. Anson Carter is a right winger and wanted a 4 million dollar deal or something and no team would bite. He scored 33 goals in 81 games in Vancouver a few years ago. Niinimaa is a defenseman and won a bronze in the olympics. They are both big. It is possible they could be dead weight but the wings have a lot of cap space to get some depth players. If someone gets hurt maybe these guys would be better backup than a Quincey or a Lilja or another mediocre guy I can't think of right now. They're more mature, which is an advantage in the playoffs. Plus you don't have to give up any players, prospects or draft picks. Could be a bad move. But they could pull a Cleary!

Football players play 16 games in a season and just run into each other for 60 minutes or so. Then everyone squables about the quarterbacks for a week until the next game. How can they possibly compare football to hockey?

Shut up Duck Guy. Just kidding... thanks for the input. Snoop Doggy DOOOGG DOg.. Snoop doggy dog.

Yeah really. It's really rude of him to do this in the midst of the trade deadline. For someone of his stature to just say to his agent "Hey, here is a list of demands. Get me the best deal you can get." knowing very well teams will be willing to pay more at the deadline. And for him to already have his mind made up before he makes every GM suck up to him. I just think that is a really rude thing to do no matter how much of a hockey great you are. If HE approached the team he wanted to play for and gave them a list of demands, that would have been more acceptable. But this is just a ridiculous ticker tape parade for Forsberg. If he doesn't decide this week it will be even worse. No GM is going to make a move on any trade. The regular season DOES mean something. A big something.. and Forsberg is just insulting it.

Well, Forsberg isn't going to Calgary, Pittsburgh, Dallas or San Jose either. He has NOT denied Anaheim yet. This concerns me as they are probably Detroits biggest threat. Here is the article: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=229000&hubname= I hope he goes to Colorado. Anywhere but Anaheim. How much more money under the cap can Anaheim be anyways. Christ!

Yeah I agree with that. He hasn't pulled himself away from the pack at all. I saw him put a hit on a guy last night which got me excited he was going to start playing better but then we coughed up the puck. He has a lot of experience and seems pretty mature though, which is why I am hoping he comes out of hibernation come playoff time and plays those teams really tough. Osgood had a lot of good things to say about him that night he got that goal. I totally agree here. I think Rafalski was a great move and he is really focused all the time on the ice which makes him less likely to get hurt than Schneider was. But Kronwall is really clutsy and/or fragile(but he is really good). We need a big D man and even moreso if Anaheim or San Jose pick up a triple A player before the deadline.

Cleary might make sense in a deal for Hossa, Blake or some other player that makes sense for Detroit. Then if Holland could get Janne Niinima and/or Anson Carter from Europe(would only cost money which the wings have enough of) that would put Detroit in a better position to play a team like San Jose or Anaheim come playoff time if those guys can put on their A game. Then if for some reason Detroit doesn't get Brunnstrom in the summer we still have Hossa, Niinima and Carter. If one of those 2 teams win the 'Forsberg sweepstakes' Detroit is going to have to find someone better than Lebda and Lilja. Those guys aren't creative enough with their play. --Toronto wants to trade Sundin for an entire team, management and all, which is friggin' stupid. I like Cleary a lot but I will be super pissed if the Wings don't win the cup this year. I'm under the opinion that if Kronwall hadn't gotten hurt last year we would have won the cup.
-
Hope he doesn't go to Anaheim or San Jose. He would be such a ****** if he goes to Anaheim. He said no to Dallas and Nashville as well. I think it is a little ridiculous to want to play for a cup contender right before the deadline after teams like Detroit have been building their team from the ground up all season long. To inject 3 all star players onto a team right before the deadline is just a little bit of an insult to other teams and the NHL.

It seemed to be a game focused on getting the third and fourth lines going. Hasek proved himself ready for the playoffs yet again after a tough start to the season. Hudler missed the net when he was set up a couple of times. Drake was playing a pretty physical game which was good to see (for playoffs). Overall they played pretty flat in the first two periods and seemed better, but not by much, in the third. Hopefully Hudler, Filppula, Sammy and Lebda get better without the assistance of Zetterberg and Dats come playoff time. I liked how Franzen played in the first. That was a game where Kronwall would have really helped.

Neidermayer - the game 5 goal scorer with 7 men on the ice and 40 seconds left one Chris 'I'll hurt players if I have to and say I didn't' Pronger Ryan 'check out my facial hair it took 5 years to grow' Getzlaf Spinorama Grier Jarome 'you can't pway dat good its not fair we'll check you the whole game and win also I love Canada' Iginla BAD REFS! That was a hook? I didn't even have a stick! I know but if you did it would have been a hook so it was a hook.

What about Janne Niinimaa and Anson Carter? They play in Europe right now so would only cost money right? Two big guys and veteran players. They both have good playoff experience.
