Well, St. Louis was playing really physical and scrappy in the first, lots of stoppages. Downey and a Blue were ready to fight. Franzen, Kronwall and Z took a big hits. The last thing the Wings want is to get injured. While there weren't many offensive fireworks, the defensive game was good. It really looked like Detroit was in control the whole game, except for the last couple minutes. Call me crazy but I think the Wings are trying to hone their skills in clutch situations for the playoffs. They probably didn't want to blow out St. Louis if you ask me, to emulate high pressure situations. That's what I would do. I liked the defense.
