I agree. Hossa is too uneventful lately. He doesn't look hungry at all. *sigh* guess he came to detroit to have others win the cup for him. Z needs to get going as well
-
yeah it was an accurate shot but it was slowerin hell
-
osgood shoulda had that one. that's why we lost
-
osgood...terrible loft shot over the shoulder...he let his hands sag and it cost him...we woulda had that save 100% last year... Hossa, F*#%ing guy is invisible

That is classic!!! I'm gonna use that from now on! I live in Calgary, and all my friends think the Flames are the greatest team in the world. "Detroit never sells out their games, they always have empty seats! That's so terrible." I usually just point out that Detroit is 3rd in the league in attendance, higher than Calgary. BUT NOW! Wooooo boy, I'd rather have empty seats than empty rafters, tooo good!

A couple goals is great in the clincher against the jackets, but this guy HAS been lackluster this playoffs IMO. For 7 million dollars a year, I expected a lot more from him. Especially his hunger, he doesnt seem to want to get his hands too dirty to get the ugly playoffs goals that are required for a team to contend. Hopefully he changes my mind soon, after all, he is making as much as Datsyuk and Lidstrom! I would resign him, but only in the 4-5 million a year range.

Will USA seriously challenge Canada in the future?
cboth686 replied to SovietWings's topic in General
http://www.fromtherink.com/2008/11/26/6736...-nationality-52 Looks like I was wrong about Russia and Sweden, but they still produce higher quality players than the US. Interesting site, Canada still has a large number. It's like 52% Canada to 19% USA. That's quite a large gap to make up, something drastic would have to happen. -

No. Sweden or Russia have a far better chance. And no, kids up here don't play for less than $50, whoever told you that is...well...not paying for hockey. For a season, you're looking at minimum $600 + equiptment, etc. For the upper tier leagues (AA, AAA, etc) They usually run about $750+ a year. I would know I played in both for over 15 years. I now play in what you refer to as a rec, mens league/beer league, and we pay $600 each for 30 ice times a year. They are only 1 hour and 15 mins long too. They aren't prime time ice either, our earliest game this past winter was 10:30pm, our latest 11:45pm. Needless to say, hockey is just as expensive up North as it is down south. Yes more Canadians play than Americans % wise. But, the reason we're so good is because our development system is essentially the best in the world, and far better than the American one. Much in the same way our basketball players don't receive nearly as professional coaching and instruction compared to the American players. Simply put, having a strong draft year is great and everything, but until the structure is changed from the ground up, the USA isn't going to start blossoming more players than Canada. -
No Pronger...No Neidermeyer, No Getzlaf, No Perry, No Ryan, No Giguere....Instead we get Mason, Nash, and Huselius (though i heard he's hurt). I'll take this matchup waaaaaaaaaaaaay before I take the Ducks. I think it's good Columbus spanked us one game too, hopefully Detroit will come out with the hammer down and show them the caliber they don't have to make a push like our red and white do. Wings in 6

Should we abandon the race for the President's trophy?

BAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA im sitting at school right now trying not laugh when i read that, good one! -
good thing osgood doesnt flip like this, he'd be in a straight jacket
-
Osgood's cage is actually a broomball style goal cage from what I've been told. I tried to get one for myself as I used to have the same problem in goal with pucks around my feet. The goalie pro at the store told me the only way to do it was to find an old cooper/bauer helmet and put on a broom ball cage. Needless to say, I like my eyes and wanna keep them as long as possible, so I stayed with the "modern" style!

Just wondering if the wings would have cap room if they dropped hossa, kept franzen, and tried to sign minny's tender Backstrom ( i think he read he's becoming a UFA next year, no?)

^^^^ ROTFLMAO ^^^^^

as of now, i think conk should start. cause i want to win this game more so than many others this year.
-
Straight up: During an economic recession people aren't going to buy crappy Pizza Hut pizza for $15 a pop, they're going to buy LITTLE CAESARS HOT N' READY for $5...this could actually put some money in Mike's pockets...
-
Osgood's play has been horrid. He was solid enough between the pipes behind this red Juggernaut in last years playoffs, if he can't do the job presently, he doesn't have my confidence, or the teams simple as that...and that's all that matters...Nobody can defend his poor save %, or GAA, when Conks are great.
-
Yeah...GAA is more related to team play than Save % is. Save % is pretty safe statistic to pin on tenders...Not to try and say the D has been great, and Osgood HASNT had a chance on a good number of shots, and that's the D problems not his. But Conk's stats were pretty good last time I checked...? So thats kinda where you have to draw the line. If one goalie is producing respectable stats and the other isn't while playing behing the same D it's somewhat concerning. This is what we saw last year just flipped with Hasek, he had poor numbers while Osgood had better, and it was pretty much safe to say it was due to his play.
-
Agreed, our D has been a joke. Osgood hasnt helped matters by having a save % below .900...
-
anyone else baffled by our wings slow decision making process. cleary looked like he was on valluim (sp) that shift. the ice looked horrible but not as bad as they played. they didnt deserve this game today
-
Probably has something to do with the fact that I think he sucks and can't stand him. Babcock knows this, thats why.
-
Anyone worried? I'm a little since the return of guys like Forsberg and Sakic. Hopefully our D can shut those top guys down on offence for them.
-
Yeah that is actually pretty old news. Partly cause I live in Calgary, but it started the year Kipper won the Vezina. Maybe Kipper slips him some coke - cause ps - those are the rumors in Calgary!!! YEAH!!! That he does coke. Apparently lots of locals have claimed seeing him do it at nightclubs, and my buddies saw him at a bar once, said he was chain smoking.
