I've been playing goal for 14 years now (since I was 8 I'm now 22) so I will let you know what I think has been wrong with Dom. 1. Lack of confidence - Going into a hockey game as a goaltender without any confidence is about as scary as it can get in any sport. First off, the lights are on you, you know you're going to be analyzed for playing either great or poorly. You begin thinking bout how you are going to make the saves and this is a problem because goalies (and atheletes in general) play their best when they aren't thinking about the game perse, rather just playing in the zone. 2. Positioning - Dom has been playing WAY too deep in his net, and I mean WAY too deep. If he is only 165 lbs that's no excuse. All that means is that you need to play further out. I'm only 5'7" (150ish giver er take depending how many beers I suck down!) and I play on the top of blue when guys are in the hash marks. I need to do this to cut down the angle or I get beat on shots. However, a lot of the confidence factor plays into this because as a goalie is more confident you will see him coming out and being more agressive. So 1 & 2 sort of tie into one another. 3. Age and groins! - Dom is gettting old, and he's become some-what of a band-aid. Nagging groin injuries are particularily bad for goalies because of the lateral movement involved. THUS, I think this plays into why he's possibly playing so deep. That way if a shot does go from right to left (or vice versa) dom is still in the middle of the net giving himself a better chance to stop the biscuit, avoiding being caught out of position up high or on the other side of the ice completely. It could be that he's lost mobility from side to side and thus has to play deeper in his net to compensate. 4. Mind Games - Goalies are weird. I know! We skilled tradesmen can often get into psychological warfare with ourselves when things aren't going our way. In Ray Emery's case, he took it out on his teammates! None the less, you begin to question your own abilities and talent and that's a big time UH OH! Dom seemed to be fighting the puck and himself more than anything. Overall, Dom said it himself: "The last 2 games are the worst I've played in my career." (or something like that.) When a tendy says that and stops blaming bounces and what not, you know they're mentally beat and everyone knows goaltending is about 70% and 30% physical. (That's what they used to tell me in Goalie camps anyways.) DISCLAIMER: This isn't bashing Dom (as angry as I am with him!) You asked for a goalie's perspective so there mine is. Hope that helps.

I hate TooToo...one of the dirtiest players in the league. Even when he played for the Canada junior team he was cheap as sh*t. He started punching Iggy in the face when he wasn't even ready one game, then claimed to win a fight against him. Iginla would destroy Tootoo limb by limb if they were put into cage. Then again, I'm sure Iginla didn't care, he probably made in one game what Tootoo makes in half a season or something haha.

Now, I'm not blaming the guy or saying he sucks. He's my fav wing behind Datsyuk, but does anyone else notice how invisible he's been the last 3 games? Seems like he's trying to do too much himself. Last night I saw him skate into the middle of 3 Nashville defenders on 3 or 4 rushes! We definately need him to relax and use his team mates out there!

I think panicking early is better than panicking when it's 3-2...to me that's a little too late...now all your games are a must win to survive the series.

OH, one last thing. I noticed your 18, here's a hint: College is a little more in depth and harder than High School. If you make it there let me know how you find it. There is a lot more pieces to the brain than you learn in grade 10......it's actually the most fascinating organ of any species. IMO

BUT, we are on the road and that's somewhat expected, THUS you need your goalie to play solid. Hasek can't. If Hasek starts next game Holland, Babcock, anyone who has anything to do with him should be fired. The team hates him. Look at their reactions. Retire.

I live in Calgary. Wore it to the neighborhood pub for game one of '07 playoffs last year btwn Flames and Wings. I got a lot of stares, if it wasn't for my 9 other buddies wearing Flames jerseys my ass woulda been on the concrete the second I walked outta there, BTW, WINGS WON!!!! I hope the Wings do hold Hasek accountable somewhat for the loss. Part of Haseks problem is that he isn't held accountable enough in MoTown. So it changed direction halfway there. Woopdef***ingdo. If the goalie is playing off the goal line the puck still hits shoulder. Very true, Hasek plays WAY too deep since he's aged. He used to be hyper aggressive and muck it up outside the crease. He's lost most of his mobility side to side and thats why he plays on the goal line. It's sad cause, if he didn't play so deep a lot more pucks would hit him by accident like they do with Giggy and guys like Turco etc...

what a dont understand is that detroit went to the conference finals last year, and lost to two VERY hot teams in Calgary and Edmonton the years prior. so a team runs into two cinderela's and losses in a conference final and they've had poor playoff runs? More like unlucky
