I did ask him a question about his. I didn't want to offend him and say "Dude, are you going to be a Wing or what?" so I started to mention his injury and if that would be a factor. He said [As a recall my recorded answer] that it wasn't holding him back and he'll be back-- which then I asked I heard that was a reason he was done. He gave the same answer. Then I just said, are you coming back? He basically said yes. Well, upon this I look up some articles and Holland did say "he's got some hockey left in him". So I hope.

Rafalski Considered "top six signings since the 2005-06 season"
MissyLKS8 replied to cjm502's topic in General
About time this was mentioned. No one really had a stellar year but also keep in mind we expect a lot out of our team. Getting knocked "early" and not winning the President Trophy to many is lousy and down right heartbreaking. We really can't pin-point one player or aspect of the team that went wrong. There were many things. I don't feel we need to start from scratch because we have a hell of a team so far. In the end, we had a descent run-- wasn't amazing in our eyes but they still gave us reasons to be proud. -
Ah, we didn't hear any of the questions of hockey or on the cooking part. I arrived five minutes after the seats in front of the table filled.

Wait, he said what? I must have missed this.

Wait... now when did the Rafalski hating start? -
I enjoyed it. We were dying to ask him a proper way to peel an apricot.

Feel you. It's a little different but my mother has mentioned numerous times if I cheered on an other baseball team, she would disown me. And if I cheered on the Yankees, she would put a pillow over my face...

Yea, we had our share, no one is perfect and most of that is one person at a time and not a whole roster. This is all just my opinion. Plus I feel there's a place and a time to be a jerk on the ice. By the way, I still hate Bertuzzi. Also, yes, location. I feel with the Wings and Tigers since I grew up here. I do understand that blue-collar thing. In fact, the radio talk about how Draper fits that-- little rough around the edges but a hard worker who has something to prove. I think that's it. I like that about our team. We got guys who come to Detroit with a stereotype to prove wrong and I like that. They underestimate Detroit... okay, maybe not the Red Wings team but I hope you get what I'm saying. I like are rich history. An original six team with a "few" legends and then we became the "dead-Wings" to the generation(s) to now. We had to dig ourselves out of a hole which says a lot. Nothing was handed to us. Good, I can't stand Perry. Pronger's gone but I still want to punch Perry's ugly face when the camera goes over him.

Heck, I know 90s hockey and I sure miss it. What I would not like is if this was a cheap-shot-a-minute team. If some huge scandal like steroids (okay, I know it's hockey not baseball but I'm trying to make a point)... or they been secretly running a child-sweat shop in the tunnels of the Joe, I would not be pleased. I can cheer on a good player who can be aggressive but I'm not cheering on a ****.

What Nic said. 100% Unless are team becomes a bunch of jerks, I would never give up on the Wings changing but them changing cities and all that mess would be a joke-- and very unfunny joke I may say.

Hey, I will probably post this again when it's closer to the start of the season, but I am moving to Germany for a minimum of one year on September 29th. I will miss the whole 2010-2011 season. It's heartbreaking, I know. My question to everyone is how can I keep up with the team? I never done preseason games and I can catch a few in September, are they worth going to help the ease of the separation anxiety? Also, I was thinking of buying a small NHL package (maybe watch a few live games but mostly day old games), however, I have a MLB premium and I hate it. I'm always on blackout and it's pricey. I barely made it through the blackout in 2004-- hopefully Germany will keep me entertained but with results of the past season, I feel ripped. Any other ideas?

It all depends but if they moved, I would die. Detroit, born and raised-- as were my parents and I too would feel abandoned. I would be livid. Beyond what people can imagine. I would still hope for the best of the players because I get attached. I mean, I make friends based on stories whether it be where I was when which game happened or on the crazy games I've seen live... so if they left, I would tear a lot of the bind with the people of the city. I've seen both good and bad players go, so again, it depends if certain players leave. If everyone sucks and we had low class player who cheat, I'd be mad. If they end up in the bottom, I would still cheer them on. As someone who loves baseball in Detroit, I've seen terrible season and still stuck through it. It sucks, but I can do it.

Which is through JYM-- it's the studying abroad program at Wayne. Good luck. I've only heard good things from student who have gone or are currently there. I'm doing both semesters. Only 90 days! I'm guessing this is from experience... Ha, right. Only a bit. Don't think it over too much!

Small world. Going with JYM? Uh, thanks?

I thought he called it quits.

I think if I want to watch games consistently I'll buy... just need to decide what will be the best plan. I'll was until I get there and see what my schedule is. Hopefully I can find a few free feeds until. It would be awesome to get a German feed, haha... if only. ... school? I will have my own room (heck yes!). However, I can't promise my yelling, opposing team trash talking, and cheering won't be a problem for others in my apartment complex. Haha.

Thanks all for the replies. I had the worst year when my roommates used MY TV to watch their lame-arse reality shows and I was stuck searching the internet and had a few reliable sites but it was a 50/50 chance I would find a game. I just need a cheap and reliable source. Also, according to a few friends, most people go to bed around 4am since most bars open after midnight and I'm just so used to studying with the game on. I know I may be distracted with being in Europe but who knows...

Kris Draper said himself that red is the color of passion... Kris Draper TV Commercial However, this was from '07 and I like to do whatever I did during the seasons we won. Call me superstitious.

I feel you. I'm moving to Germany in a few months. I paid $120 for MLB.tv and I can't even watch all the games! I can see the Joe and Comerica from my apartment and they are blacking out the baseball game. I debating to buy a NHL game package if I can't even watch them all.

Yeah, so my cable is down... where can I stream?

After the game, you should people mover to Greek Town because if they win the chanting and high-fives are found there. But Chelis and Hockeytown are nice choices too. Also, check the Tiger at Comerica and see if it has a massive Wings jersey on. There is a GIANT picture on the side of Hockeytown facing the expressway if you want a picture with it. Check if there's anything Wings related next to Hockeytown Authentics at Troy Sports Center. Maybe you can open skate there and say you skating on the "office practice ice" at the "official training facility of the Detroit Red Wings". Ask anyone you see with a jersey on or anyone at these places for any further ideas. Finally, check the website and here to see if there are any placer appearances or signings or open practices.

Really, Journey is our thing. There is not a soul in the Joe not singing that when played. I also felt like "Living on a Prayer" since in the last playoff people were playing it and singing it when we literally were half-way there. Hey, Hey, Hockeytown is lame but I love it. And when it comes to comparing us to football overseas, we are getting there. The difference is they don't have 82 games a season and therefore it's not just the die-hards that attend. However, our playoff crowd is something to brag about.

Okay, from the many years of watching national sporting broadcasts, I've learned one thing: They don't really know the teams well. They state the most obvious facts, mix up players, mess up last names, etc... My question from watching the game on CBS, how the heck do you pronounce Franzen's last name? According to Wikipedia [which is always right (sarcasm)], it's Franzen with the "a" almost sounding like "on". This is how I and everyone I know have been saying it for the past five years. However, the play-by-play tonight kept saying Franzen as if the "a" sounded like "an". WHICH IS THE RIGHT WAY?!?! Also, I looked up that interview (Two for the Fun of it) where he introduces himself. I'm starting to second guess myself because I can't really hear if he says one or the other.
