I think this is spot on. Ilitch is trying to do a lot for the city and this arena project. From my understanding him and Dan Gilbert are just buying up plots of land in the Downtown area. Ilitch used the Red Wings to really get the ball moving on everything.

When I read this all I can think about is a scene from the movie Goon. When the guy has different women in and out of his apartment and the loud music playing in the middle of the night.

I think the Magic man will be back in less than 10 days. Esp if we want to make a strong push for the playoffs.

I think Cleary and Bert are gone after the season. Quincey is the one I am trying to figure out.

I can say I feel a lot better about our future. Is it 100% where we need to be? Not yet but a couple added pieces to this team we can be contenders in the near future. Not many people talk too much about how good the Wings were in the early 90's. Young core that was starting to jell and one trade for Shanny put this organization over the top for years. I would say 4 guys that are completely hands off for trades are Nyquist, Tatar, Dekeyser, and Jurco.

I think some people overreact about going to the east. We have done very well against teams in the east over the last 15 seasons. Boston will play us tough but I think we will still hold our own. By no means we will cake walk to the conference finals but I don't expect to be pushed around. I like the current roster going into next season. I wouldn't mind adding a defenseman but I don't see any reason going after some knuckle head who will run up penalty minutes.

The whole Sammy non buyout reminds me of our past experiences of Uwe Krupp. The good news we only signed the guy for 2 years.

Overall I am happy. I think Weiss is an upgrade over flip. Alfie is a low risk high reward contract. I still have faith in our young corps. I think with a preseason and a full season these 2 guys will help with the development of some our younger guys.

i just wish they let these guys play more. It was a tough hit and it looked bad. But everyone that has played hockey knows that you have to keep your head up at all times. The NFL is starting to do this crap and they put it in the hands of the refs. Most times calls like these can change the game. -

Why can't NBC take a page out of the book of CBS?? They can show the damn Olympics on 6 different channels but only show the NHL playoffs on 2 channels. NBC you SUCK!!!!!
